I believe the reason this song is so moving to so many of us, when she sings it , it's because she's not singing it to us. She's singing it to the most high God, and you can feel the Spirit throughout the song. It looked like she was crying in the end, and got down on her knees to worship. This song is a fabulous prayer
Amen, you are right, that’s her song, composed brilliantly by Dr. Glen E. Burleigh at GMWA, 1991. What a powerful testimony it was. One of God’s greatest songs. Forever! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This was my Mother’s song! She lead this in our choir. She passed away on 2015 after a battle with cancer. She would be crying if she heard this playing.
This is so ironic I used to lead this song in the choir I was in, and this was the one she used to love to hear me sing too. And what is more ironic is that my mother passed away in 2015 too.
This is the Original Singer for the GMWA Women of Worship, they performed in San Antonio, Texas. I am not sure if she still is there but it was a big deal in San Antonio at the time. Her voice can not be duplicated..
atwdrivenman That range is ridiculous. She does sown to the pits of hell in that range. And I agree. If you can’t tell she’s the singer in the original then you need your ears checked
The original singer of this song is Barbara Johnson-Tucker. She was the first to record for the writer of the song alongside Bettye Ransom-Nelson. I believe that Mimi could be the singer in the most popular version that we hear today.
@@Mimi2Y2BYAZPHIL I totally agree. I wanted to simply give some credit where credit is due when it comes to Barbara Johnson-Tucker. You just said what you knew. I was simply informing. For Mimi's version is what I knew before I started studying the soprano voice and found out that it was actually written for Barbara Johnson-Tucker. No harm done man. I completely agree and love both versions and both singers.
God chose her for this personally! He used her where she could get that anointing to us! You can hear her soul filled with the Holy Ghost!! Than you Jesus!!
I absolutely adore Mimi Redd. She is so soft spoken and gentle and totally MURDERS that mic for the Lord. The words she sings are what I ask God for daily.

She did an interview and she revealed that she was surprised that she was asked to do the original album. She also didn't make any money at all on it. I was surprised.
She wasn't the first to record this song. The writer of the song had Barbara Johnson-Tucker sing it live at a church. She sang this song with Bettye Ransom-Nelson. Mimi is the singer of the most popular version of this song, however.
I have to come look up my favorite gospel songs and they get me every time ❤❤❤❤ I be in here trying to teach my girlfriend these songs dhe don't know any of them besides. Kirk Franklin lol
A real tear jerker. Nothing more inspiring then to hear someone sing from the heart, not attempting to replace the original singer, but able to put his/her own spin on a song. Very well done.
Mimi Redd, the anointed vessel of the Lord, singing lead in this video, is the original singer in the GMWA album. This song was performed by Barbara Johnson Tucker before Mimi performed it with the GMWA. I love both versions. But Mimi is the original on the GMWA album. If you are unsure because the tempo has been slowed down on this rendition, you can speed this up to 1.25 and it will sound just like it did when she performed this live with GMWA many years ago. Be blessed Mr. Jeffrey Harrison.
For all of you addressing the lead singer. she is Mimi Redd who is the ORIGINAL leader of this song when it was recorded with GMWA. Do your homework before you began criticizing. She is an AMAZING vocalist. And as for Tracci Quartermaine's comment, does your church choir sing ALL original music......or do they copy others?
L Anderson: She lost her flavor! Or, the reception is very bad. She's in poor health She was 20 years, years ago and mostly doesn't use her vocals nor take care of her voice box other than eat.

It is good to be excited in worship, but some songs are not just for worship; they carry profound messages and invoke the spirit of prayers in soberness. The effect of the music on the older woman is different.
