Jokic, MVP cooked Gobert with a masterclass in game 5 by shooting 8/9 against the DPOY. It is a fact.
In games 1/3/4/6 the Serbian shot at 11/30 so 36% FG when Gobert defended him in 1vs1. This is also a fact.
As a Wolves fan I much prefer that than the other way around.
That's one game. I'm sure youll give Rudy all the props if his team takes series. He is scapegoat. Rudy Gobert +/- so far in series is +39. Ant is +33 and he didn't sit in game 2. Rudy is all time RUNNING MATE. He can't be that dude.
If you actually watched the games not just the highlights you can see how Rudy changes every players approach. So many times dudes get right to the basket and dribble through or pass out without taking a shot. Tons of pull ups from short range or floaters that they normally wouldn’t take. I’m not even a huge Rudy fan but he changes whole teams game plan.
Did he deserve DPOY over WEMBY?

@@IsiahMonroe Wemby isn't close to Gobert in actual defensive impact yet. Amazing talent and numbers though. When he gets more experience and lower body strength he's going to be dominant defensively. Right now he's still more flashy than a full on shut down presence.

Rudy is a terrible on ball defender. I’ve been saying it for years. Jokic is not the only one that cooks him. Rudy is a great HELP defender on a great defensive teams

I mean its the NBA. Offensive players are gonna get theirs regardless of the era. And this is an era that is more offensively driven. So DPOY getting cooked doesn't really mean that much. I remember when Shaq cooked Dikembe Mutumbo. That doesn't mean Mutumbo wasn't the best defensive player that year. That's Shaq. That's Jokic. Shiiiit if we wanna go there AD cooked Jaren Jackson Jr last year.

I'm convinced they ain't watching the games. Gobert had best +/- on court in both losses. -2 gm 4 and +9 gm 3. Wolves went -13 in 8 min gm 4 without Rudy. -17 gm 3. The rim opens up for all when Rudy hits bench. Rudy can't be 2nd best player after Joker. Ant and KAT have to step up for Wolves. They playing like anyone stops the Joker 1v1. Hell is there even a team that lets a player guard him 1v1 outside of Rudy?

AD defended Jokic about as well as anyone I've seen, and that man still averaged 28 16 and 10 while shooting 59% from the field. Bam got the same treatment in the Finals last year. So is this mythical big man who isn't getting cooked by Jokic? That's all I'm asking.

Thank you somebody said it, Rudy can’t guard Jokic, he eat him up every time but they put someone athletic on Jokic, it speeds him up, once you put Kat n Naz on Jokic, he gets under 20 pts in the game, Rudy on him, he drops 35, Rudy too slow for Jokic n plays right into Jokic game, Put Rudy on Aaron Gordon, not consistent from 3 n most of his points is from the paint
Alright I’m seeing a lot of people defend Rudy because it’s joker.
1. Every other defensive player in the running has defended better than him
2. There is no excuse whatsoever for not even attempting to lower his center of gravity. It’s litterally the most fundamental defensive concept shared among basketball and wresting.
3. Although he may be a good defender at the rim, he is dogshit at on ball and off ball defense, dogshit with foot speed, can’t defend any guard, and is completely obsolete when barely outside the paint.
3. he doesn’t get enough rebounds or blocks
4. The only metrics that show he is a good defender are statistics heavily influence by team success. McDaniel, Edward’s, Conley, mcloughlin, Reid, and Warren make them an unbelievable defensive team.
5. With ball movement and shooting, spacing has changed. I personally don’t believe that centers are as defensively impactful as they used to be.
