Jari Mäenpää, the lead guitarist and singer, is for Wintersun, what is Tuomas for Nightwish. A great composer, a poet, the man behind everything, Fan Fact: He is missing a third of his right lung due to tuberculosis he suffered back in 1997 while he was in the army

Did you happen to recognize the drummer? I'm still watching so don't know if there's a call out, but that's Kai Hato who is also the Nightwish drummer. The bassist Jukka Koskinen has also been playing with Nightwish since Marko left, not sure what the long term on that is tho.

The Drummer is Hai Hahto, who is also drummer for Nightwish since 2015, The Bass player Jukka is playing for Nightwish on the current tour as well. I love Wintersun, the whole album describes the seasons so well both musically and lyrically.
Kai Hahto is also a drum teacher, especially the ergonomics of playing. He also played in the latest Darkwoods My Betrothed album w/ Tuomas from Nightwish. An old Finnish black metal band that released a new album after two decades.

And now you know why Kai Hahto the drummer joined Nightwish in 2014 and now the bassist, Jukka, is also playing with Nightwish on recent gigs.
That's why they call Kai the "Human Metronome". :D Jari is the primary composer, on the same level as Tuomas from Nightwish. Check out "Time" from the live rehearsal, I like that song even more than this one. 🤘 🤘
Jari just needs some more Time II get his compositions complete.

Wintersun is everything!
First we get Jinjer and now Wintersun. Both are truely bingeworthy and have high quality discographies.
You can see how the drummer found his way to Nightwish. And I think this bass player is also in Nightwish replaced Marko . Checkout the Nightwish virtual gig
"Land of snow and sorrow" and also "loneliness" has grown to my favourites. Finnish melancholic traditions are heard on these. Its in the blood.
Wintersun is more melodic death, folk, and black metal than pure death.
They recorded song Time first, this was second song in this session.
Hopefully they had breaks in between!!

Killermcknight. As you've said, Wintersun was requested since your Nightwish reactions, because Kai Hahto the drumer his nowadays also Nigthwish's drumer. Btw also Jukka Koskinen Wintersun's bassist, his the seession bassist for the next year live concerts.

If you want more impressive screaming voice performance by Jari, check Eternal Darkness (Autumn) (it's my all time favorite song since it gives me everything I ever wanted from a metal song) and if you want to hear more impressive clean vocals, check Loneliness (Winter). Both absolutely stellar songs, though they are both also very long songs, but in my opinion that's a great thing since they are exactly the length they needed to be. That's what I love about this band that there's no rush. They're the full musical journey experiences.

Sad that today Jari (the main composer, vocalist, lyricist and used to be one of Wintersun's guitarists) turned out to be such a lame guy that's more interested in selling Wintersun wallpapers and doing podcasts than releasing new music...
