    I have two Scoobas (have had a total of 5). There are some design flaws that probably account for IRobot's discontinuing this scrubbing floor mop but why they didn't just improve the design, I don't know. It does a good job of cleaning when it works (it's the only floor clearner that I've used that cleans the grout lines in tile floors). Scooba is "fussy" compared to Roomba and it requires alot more maintenance and on-going attention than Roomba. The non-OEM Lithium battery has completely transformed my experience of Scooba and that's something IRobot could have offered years ago.

    I wished I had purchased the Scooba before it was discontinued. I just bought the Braava 380t as an alternative. Hopefully, IRobot will bring back a Floor Scrubbing/Mopping robot soon.

      @@zortella I just bought one on Amazon and it barely releases any water. Only the middle of the rotating brush gets wet. I contacted the manufacturer and they said the very original model worked really well and got really wet and it ran out of water somewhat quickly and people complained so the newer models barely release any water at all and the water tank last forever but now he brush basically doesn't get wet at all and the floor doesn't really get clean so I'm returning it

    I have scoba 385 with diy lion battery. My clean flors make scooba every time to make wather black. The scooba is just amazing whater cleaner, and no other analog to him. I put 2-3 drops hands washing licuid 1-2 drops parfume and fill with clean water. Works OK and small freshnes my apartment. Cleaning to scooba is easy, only 2-3 minutes, not so hard like most people think.

    Braava is missing the scrub roller option. Scrub is always better than pads for rough tiles.

    My problem with the 1st gen was the water jets would get clogged. Trying to clean them ended up blowing up the hoses (my fault). I did get the gen 2 and though it does clean differently, it still does a great job. It sprays down water, lets it sit then seems to go back and trys to suck it up. IMO, iRobot only made floor mopping worse when they retired the orig style moppers.

    Scooba is way beter then another, even the Brava.
    With scooba you only have to fill the tank and I do not spill water.
    Scooba takes a little more time to clean. (I never rinsed the tank or removed the battery. Just clean the filters and brush. Put everything back and plug the charger in. Done.)
    P.s. our scooba was 15 years old before it died beyond repair. (Average 3 times per week in a very large house.) Never needed any new parts. Only thing we ever replaced was the battery.

    I have an allergy to fragrances and need to use unscented products. I use vinegar for my cleaning. Fragrances are not much regulated by the FDA and can cause cancers and other organ damage, They also are causing our water to become toxic. Was hoping the pads would not have a scent. Sure glad I watched this so I can move on and see what else is out there.

      @Mm Amazon, they basically always have a $50 coupon that brings the price to around $200. I don't think it truly cleans as well as a Scooba after testing it, but it's the closest thing around. It'll certainly out clean a Braava or similar.

    • @TravisJReed
      @TravisJReed 4 года назад

      I don't like the shine bot. Fair warning. It's such a great concept and a fair price, but the newer versions are junk. It barely releases any water onto the rotating brush. I called the company and the person in customer service was ridiculously honest and said the first iteration was fantastic and got the floor very clean and wet and people complain but the floor was still wet after it ran so the next version they made the robot release less water so the floor would be dry after it ran but now the brush basically doesn't get wet at all and therefore the floor doesn't get wet at all or clean at all. I bought mine with the $50 coupon a couple weeks ago from Amazon and I kid you not out of a brush that is probably seven or eight in Long only about 2 in in the middle gets decently wet and decently dirty. The water tank last forever easily from running it three times without needing to refill it which is insane that's like two thousand square feet of the house with a few cups of water. She told me to put candid feedback on Amazon and return it and hope that they reverted back to releasing more water for a future version.

    • @KevCentral
      @KevCentral  7 лет назад +8

      KimHeartsOrganizing Most likely they wanted an item that was an easier sell. I'm sure many people were curious about a $600 mopping robot, but wouldn't plunk down money for it. At $199, I imagine there is a much larger base of potential customers....even if it is an inferior mopped compared to the Scooba. My hope is that they'll release a more Scooba-like Braava (or another Scooba - though I suspect they've retired that name) as a high end mopping bot.

    The Scooba 450 was the best ever scrub robot. Not perfect but still clean like not other on the market. I have 4 of them and you still can get new factory spares parts on UK which I imported at one point but the lack of iRobot support and innovation made switch brands completely. It is sad they had years of advantage from any competitors but the the greedy and denial to listen customer request and suggestions are taking it down to the grave. I honestly think the new owner Google will probably ditch it in the future.

    I found that my Scooba did not put down enough liquid to clean effectively. I had improved results by using a hand pump spraying get the floor wet. Also, the terribly weak vinegar solutions is not very good for any kind of serious stains, food droppings, shoe mud, etc. The random motion is very inefficient. And finally, I have to laugh at the people using these robots, their floors are clean to begin with.

      Hoai Nam Nguyen I haven't tried the reusable pads. I don't know that trying to add detergent would get even detergent coverage as it cleans. The factory pads are layered so that the detergent is released as moisture wicks through the pads.
