It's why all the pros hate checking the waves from the Off The Wall angle bc of how scary it looks. Every Blak Bear Surf Club interview with Burger that he asks where they like to check, they all refuse this angle.
John John is set apart from all other surfers in his complete awareness. As he takes his feet, it’s as if each limb has a separate response to maximise the wave situation before him constantly. He never ceases to amaze me with his fluidity in the surf.
Some of the Backdoor roll-in takeoffs look deceptively easy, and for a second there a mere mortal can tend to think "I could do that"... :) Anyway, Mahalo for the amazing videos, always a joy to watch. And thank you for not ruining the videos with any other soundtracks than that of soothing Mother Nature herself. Blessings.

First time I ever saw this angle and location. I get a much clearer understanding of how the wave is working. Love it. Can you get any propriety rights for it knowing anyone can go there and claim it as their own (sadly). I saw no 6 second barrel in the video. I did see a solid 3 to maybe 4 second barrel which is still impressive on such a wind blown/not easy conditions day like this when the others are happy just to get a fast 1-2 second barrel.
You know your deep at Backdoor when it looks like you shoulda went left ........ JJF makes it look so easy to hook it up under that heaving lip ! It for sure is not !
WOTW is such a great concept. Today every break is covered by cameras, so a really good North Shore surfer can get it; depends on "The Wave"; right place right time.

Watching RUclips and WSL, I learn about how certain ones also know what to look for better than most, so that increases their odds... JJF, and JOB. That said, the better waves are not always the biggest, and it may come down to LUCK of a lesser rated specialist getting a big bomb that turns out to be very ridable.

Somehow, Dane and JBG pumping through backdoor, and often stalling when everyone else is on the gas, makes me feel like nobody's ever gonna take their Backdoor crowns 👑 away.... in my old mind.

Ya know, why do celeb surfers have to control the lineup and take so many waves? Does anyone have a sense of community and sharing? Its a crowded world and a state park in a public place created to be a common resource, not one controlled by a select few. The celebs can and do travel the world surfing the best waves, often all to themselves. How about respecting that not everyone has the skill or the logistics to do that, but they nevertheless value the experience of a great wave now and then. In fact one wave like the many these guys surf all the time would make someone's life. Give 'em some slack pros, you all get plenty of action.
No offense to boogie boarder, but I just wish they stay off to their corner and real surfers do their thing. No one wants to see you and you are taking space from professional surfers and great waves. Its like Bass player doing a solo while its the guitar player that everyone wants to hear...Again I think they should have a no body surfing or boogie surfing on pipeline if over 8 feet.
