I was drafted with Ricky in the 8th round, Treblehorn was our manager at that time in Rookie Ball, Ricky was a star from the very beginning one of my memorable memories of him was hitting a slug bunt for a line drive triple, he definitely was a beast on the paths, Oakland drafted a lot of fast runners and believe or not Ricky wasn’t the fastest, burst of speed from 1st to second and once he developed that head first slide, he own it, a stud all around ⚾️

I was always a Ricky fan but lost a lot when he gave the speech after breaking the stolen base record and going on about how great he is he did it all on his own just me me me. It showed what kind of teammate and person he truly was. I made it to D-1 golf and with my pathetic athletic accomplishments it took a whole lot more than me. My family parents brother and sister all sacrificed so much to enable me to travel play golf and live my dream. You can’t get to the top on your own. While you are doing what you love there are many behind the scenes putting their lives on back burner for you. Respect the sacrifices of others to get you where you are.
