My personal favourite conservation success story is the Madagascar pochard. Once thought extinct and subsequently rediscovered 200 miles from their last known location in unsuitable habitat in 2006. Since then a captive population has been established and is going strong at 100ish birds and they have been reintroduced to another lake, Lac Sofia. The reintroduced population has started breeding and the local community is getting onboard with the project. I love this for three reasons, 1) I love ducks; 2) I work for the conservation department at WWT who helped save them and 3) it's a great example of local and international collaboration.
Epic conclusion to The Wilds, Zach! My favorite conservation story is the grey wolf reintroduction in Yellowstone and surrounding lands. It gives me hope that America still has wild spaces left
My favorite conservation success story is the story of the Kirtlands Warbler. Kirtlands Warblers are one of my favorite animals and they live in my two favorite places, Michigan and Florida
One of my favorite conservation success stories is one I tell mostly because it's funny to think about. Canada Geese. They were one of the inspirations behind the migratory birds act in the 1950s, as their populations had been in decline for a while. To combat this, geese were raised in captivity and then released in hunter-free areas such as city parks and neighborhood ponds. These efforts were so successful however that nowadays those same city parks and ponds consider geese to be a nuisance, as these new populations weren't migratory and just hung out pooping everywhere. E: Also yes I am obsessed with Oryxs thank you for noticing XD
So happy that this zoo is conserving such endangered species and that they are being so well taken care of with this immense habitat. I loved the white rhinos in the rain, what a spectacular scene!
2:54 when your parents won’t take you to hot topic so you go sulk in the rain listening to My Chemical Romance 🦓 My favorite conservation success story would have to be the trumpeter swan I grew up literally a few miles from the Detroit Zoo where they took part in a program reestablishing a population in the Great Lakes region And maybe reading the Trumpet of the Swan by EB white had something to do with my love of birds
I don’t know if this was intentional (though I’m pretty sure it was) but I love how at 3:09, you started talking about “Africa’s most beloved hoofstock” and showed some wide shots of giraffes… only to start talking about scimitar-horned oryx. Cracked me up.
Favorite conservation story is California condor (even though they're still endangered). I remember when condor ridge was new at the SD wild animal park. The enclosure's Southwestern desert theme and the massive aviary that overlooked the paddocks was such a massive scale. It left a big impression on me and made me want to do more research on why animals become endangered (and why I love animals to this day.)
Yay! Which zoo are you going next for your next episode? And try visiting the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Woodland Park Zoo, & Oakland Zoo sooner or later! Also, 4 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend, Zak... 1) What is the name of the baby gorilla from the San Francisco Zoo that was crushed to death by the hydraulic door? 2) What is the name of the pot-bellied pig that passed away at the Oakland Zoo many weeks ago? 3) What are the names of the Oakland Zoo's 2 zebras that passed away so far? 4) How many spotted hyenas did the Oakland Zoo now have? Great galloping Iguanodon!🦓
My favourite conservation story is that of the Tasmanian devil. Australia has some of the worst extinction rates in the world, so a conservation success story does warm my heart. While not out of the woods yet in Tasmania; due to the threat of the facial tumour disease (a type of contagious cancer), the semi-wild insurance population is doing great on the Australia mainland, thanks in part to Aussie Ark. If all goes well, we might just see Tasmanian devils roaming all over the Australian mainland as their ancestors did.
Mmmmm, my favourite conservation storey huh. This is gonna be hard lol. Coming from Western Australia I’m obviously gonna have to talk about the Gilbert’s potoroos. So this storey oddly enough starts with prince Philip, a man who absolutely with out a 100% of a doubt needs recognition for what he has done in conservation for the past years of his life. From advocating for climate change action in the 1980s to his storey of saving this little marsupial. When prince Philip was visiting two peoples bay, a area with highly bio diverse plant communities and a rare bird species he learnt that it was going to be demolished for housing. Seeing this, prince Philip lobbied for the area to be protected, to which he succeeded in doing so. Little did he know, a small mammal that had not been seen since 1845 was clinging on in this small habitat, the Gilbert’s potoroo. I for one have always had dislike towards the royal family, I had seen them as nothing more then rich upper class snobs who cared nothing for anything around them. I could not be further from the truth.
My favourite conservation success story is of the red kite it was almost Hunted to extinction and there were only small populations in North Wales and due to conservation they can be found everywhere.
Mine favourite would be the story of Asian lions there were only 19 left in the wild the ruler of that particular region started their conservation. It's quiet impressive because kings back than were known for hunting not protecting
Zachary Handel, I've been watching your yours since 2020, and I'm telling you, go to John ball zoo! Go to Audubon zoo! Go to Dutch Creek animal farm! Suggestions!
5:17 speaking of the northern white rhino have you heard of the plans to rebuild the northern whites population by using artificial reproduction by putting their eggs into Sergent mothers of their southern cousins if I remember correctly those involve in this project are the San Diego zoo and a zoo in Europe

For the wilds, you also need to do the zipline tour...it gives you a bit more time at the different stops

Thank you for taking us through The Wilds!
Thanks for showing all of the Wilds in Ohio
Magnificent zoo, Buiding,😀, enclosures and VIDEO!!!
Great place to visit and support

Me too. I know the Oregon Zoo has a very successful condor breeding program there.
This is what some zoo experts believe to be the future direction of zoos; larger spaces with fewer species
My favorite conservation story is the Jaguar in Corrientes, Argentina. 🐆
Great video! I love this channel.

Truly Majestic, My favorite was the bald eagle comeback story beautifully represented through Houstons Texas Wetlands

My favorite conservation success story is the American bison.
I’ve been waiting for this all week lol
I wish there were elephants here but they would probably wreck the tour trucks
This zoo is the definition of quality over quantity
I really want a Kilimanjaro Safaris episode. It would be interesting to hear it being reviewed in this style.

My favourite conservation succes is th hainan gibbon. In 2000, there were only 9 individuals left, now their number climbed to 33
my personal favourite is the whopping cranes because it gives hope for another nearly extinct species
Favorite conservation story is the American alligator saved thanks to alligator farms!
Mine favourite would be the story of Asian lions there were only 19 left in the wild the ruler of that particular region started their conservation. It's quiet impressive because kings back than were known for hunting not protecting

I've been watching your videos since 2020
i’m hoping to go to the wilds for my birthday in august
2:55 😳
The mystery zoo will be episode 120, right?
More like 125. It won't be filmed for another month.
Will you ever finish the tour through the Lied jungle?
If I ever get word that the bottom floor opens.
I’m sorry Zachary Handel for forcing you to do Elephant Springs I didn’t mean to do it I’m really really sorry last September
Now that we’re almost in 2023, and this is a fairly popular meme, I shall be the one to say the three sacred words:
*only in Ohio*
Please make kingdom’s of the night the Omaha Henry dorly zoo an aquarium
5:17 speaking of the northern white rhino have you heard of the plans to rebuild the northern whites population by using artificial reproduction by putting their eggs into Sergent mothers of their southern cousins if I remember correctly those involve in this project are the San Diego zoo and a zoo in Europe
I could have swore the Wilds used to have Hippos
They have Asian Rhinos, which are big, grey, grumpy, and hang out in the water a lot. People sometimes get confused
Giraffes my favorite conservative animal.
Hello again I’m 1st
