My Mom told me that I met Lindsay Wagner at a park in the San Fernando Valley (where I was born and raised) when I was 2 or 3 years old. She was there with her son and apparently thought I was very cute! Too funny. Seeing Heather Langenkamp in the thumbnail brought me here. It’s always good to see anything with Lindsay (and Heather) in it! This is my first time seeing this great movie. Thank you for sharing!

I have yet to find that man. My ex boyfriend cheated on me. And I've been in the position of being the other woman which I have guilt over from decades ago. At some point we need to release the guilt and forgive ourselves and each other. Affairs leave scars for the ones being cheated on and the ones who are caught up in the cheating -particularly the women.

I’ve never done that but by all means forgive yourself, you’ve learned, and stopped, moved on and never did it again so you have the right to forgive yourself. It’s some ppl that do this and don’t ever change, grow or care about who they hurt. So I think you’re wonderful for realizing it was wrong and leaving that behind and changing, so good for you.

They did that on purpose to have that effect come across stronger: old guy cheating on his wife with a much younger mistress. In fact, the actress was younger than him... They let her grey hair grow out which instantly slaps 20 years onto everyone, no matter what their face looks like...Meanhwile they dyed his hair to make him look still vital. When this movie was made, Richard Crenna was 58, Joanne Woodward was 54, and Lindsay Wagner was only 35 - which is really disgusting somehow, pairing her up with an almost 60 year old dude at that age ...But I get they did that for the effect the story needed to get across. In real life - I would throw up 🤮🤭

This movie reminds me of all those feelings that are often unresolved with our fathers. We marry men who wind up making us feel the same way and make us explore our grief and disappointment anyway. We can't force our spouse to make up for what we don't yet take responsibility for. That is why I am in the field of counseling. I want to help others resolve the pain caused by parental abuse, abandonment, ignoring, or just plain not believing in us.

The Scripts, the Actors & the Locations were always Superior. It's a real shame that Nobody makes this kind of Movies anymore! I'm not even sure there's anyone in Hollywood who COULD make these any more, with the Rot they turn out now, no decent person with half a brain would watch anyway!

I have never seen anyone have that ability to fuse clothing, style, and figure into it's own stunning entity. Even if she started off as a model, of which I have no idea, that wouldn't fully explain how she manages to look so incredible and stylish. I'm impressed and inspired. SPOILER ALERT
This is one of the most poignant, sad and touching films I have ever seen. Contrary to some of the comments below, I don't feel the mistress was dumb; she truly believed that when the daughter was grown, he would leave his wife and marry her. Regarding the wife, she chose to turn away from the truth, as many people do; that is their own private business and I wouldn't judge. The daughter had a beautiful character in the way she cared for her little brother. The husband was a narcissist who didn't care who he hurt. It would have been more considerate had he made a clean break with his wife and married the other woman. Holding onto both of them simultaneously was selfish and cruel. I think they purposely made the wife look frumpy and old so the audience would understand (not sympathize) but understand that he sought the arms of a young and beautiful lover. However in the end, I feel that the three women were redeemed. As stated, it had a poignant, sad but touching ending. The aura of it is still with me

Joseph Glover - I've always thought same thing about her. I think she was and is happy with who she is. She's into a true holistic life style and not all the politics of Hollywood. I think it was probably her choice to stay where she was. She's an excellent actress.

Lindsay Wagner was/is not a big star movie of Hollywood. People mostly didn't know who she was until they recognized her when she got her first show 70's called "The Bionic Woman" and then she became a famous actress. And she was the first youngest actress at the age of 28 to win a Primetime Emmy Award for The Bionic Woman in 1977 and she won another award for The Bionic Woman, also she got nominated for The Bionic Woman. She didn't have many awards for her roles in movies because she was never a hugh star actress in 80's and 90's, and she had 0 awards for her roles in TV movies. I remember reading people said they mostly didn't seem to like watching her play different characters in her TV moves because her characters were boring and trash, expect for her best character Jaime from The Bionic Woman only, they loved her acting Jaime because the great things that was so great about her was that she was kind goofy and humor. That's all what they said about this. From what I read the person posts on Blog that he/she says today of kids still recognize Lindsay Wagner as The Bionic Woman when they see her outside at someplace and they ask her for an autograph and she says to them, "Sure." Wow, so glad for them. She is 70 years old now and she is still alive.

This movie romanticizes being a mistress and makes it look so attractive because she would be taken care of by a man, a rich man. Even if there is love, it does not justify the disruption of the marriage and how it marginalizes the other woman (legal wife).

What right would I have had to be with another lady's husband, even if he wanted me, which he did. What I felt for him would have turned to disrespect very quickly. So why jump through all those hoops and bring potential devastation to many.

I thought that too, the wife and daughter were way too generous at the end. I thought that because the poor kid got dragged into this because of his parents bad decisions he should not have to suffer by throwing them out of the beach house straight away so I figured giving the mistress a year of free rent and bills giving her enough time to figure something out should be more than fair all in all. Not giving them a ton of money . It felt like the message from the movie wasn't just to potential mistresses but to all those involved saying that this type of behavior is okay even though it hurts and traumatizes everyone . Not okay .

Plus he showered her with financial stability when she was a struggling artist and commercial model. He represented what she wanted from a man and her future so she settled in hopes that he would someday be all hers and no longer had to live a secret. I blame him before I blame her .he was older and should have been wiser. She was young inexperienced corruptible and age has alot to do with the decisions we make ..he was a married man and should have never put that ice pack on her neck......good movie though...

Two comments about the youngest characters, Beth (Heather Langenkamp) and Eric (R.J. Williams): When Beth is confronting her angry mom about cutting off the support to the mistress and the boy, exasperated with her mom AND feeling a bond and affection with her new found half-brother, she says, "That's okay, Mom. I'll take care of Eric out of my own inheritance and it won't cost you anything." Such a unselfish, loving gesture.
. . . Eric describes his dad's death as "he just rolled over and died, just like my turtle who roller over and died." The preceding is paraphrased.A surprising, matter-of-fact way of characterizing death.

This is the reason why you never stay with someone who cheat's on you in the first place.

I’ve been with my husband 27 years, married 24. I would be absolutely destroyed to find he had a whole separate life. Mourning his death and then mourning what life I thought we had. Very selfish.

Lindsay Wagoner is so beautiful and so was Joanne Woodward. I think they toned Joanne down because she looks well over 50.
