    Final Fantasy 1 truly is a tragic tale. There is a lot to love, but the technical limitations really cut into how much the plot could be elaborated. The story does feel like a D&D campaign, you had a spell casting system that was much closer to vancian magic and the character classes did feel like old D&D as well. The focus was much more on exploration than later games.
    That said... the combat system is clunky, the game requires too much grinding with no real alternatives and the exploration doesnt work with enemy levels acting as meatgates.

    You can still see snippets of Advamced Dungeons & Dragons peppered throughout the game. The red wizard is based off the ranger class which could cast divine and arcane spells, tiamat, bahamut and half of the monsters are taken directly from the monster manual, etc.

    8:25 people living in an airship and a guy named "Cid"
    Ff7 had a guy named Cid Highwind who helped Cloud in their adventures. And the family name of FF4's Kain Highwind is the same. Idk maybe they just reuse names alot but when u make the connections it makes it all plausible

    • @RadiantIncubus
      @RadiantIncubus 4 года назад +1

      Lu Xypher The names serve more of a homage to their original counterparts. Characters that share a name with another character from different game are only similar in the fact that they often share the same occupation. Cid for example has been in every Main title FF game since FF2 and all variants of him share the fact that he is some form of engineer or mechanic.

      The are connected by the Void. Gilgamesh, despite his appearance, has been confirmed to be the same man in every cameo. Some summons do that too. In Dissidia the file for Ramuh mentions that he travels between dimensions and tells the story of FF2 to Garnet of FF9. Dissidia is pretty much canon to me as it shows the alternate world for FF1. So even by that right I say they're connected.

    I really like basic, but very hauntingly beautiful music, but rather in a sense of cozy, soothing and warmy type. The later games in a series only improved in that regards.
    The game was basic, storyline based on quite common archetypes and established genre concepts. Nothing really new, nothing groundbreaking, just solid game in the genre at the time. Though I'm glad it succeeded to be the seed for one of the greatest RPG series of all times.

    • @ecarvalho17
      @ecarvalho17 4 года назад +2

      FFs are not story related. Do as you wish but dont force you in an old game if you are not up to. If i were you, I would start with the remasters versions. In that way, I would start with FFX and than keep the chronological releases: FFX/X-2(remaster) -> FFXII (remaster)-> FFXIII/2/LR -> FFXV ->FF7 (remake). There is a FFVIII remaster from 2019, but I would stick with that other.
      But,as I said, you can start from any of them. Start with FF7 remake or FFXV if you want. You will just lose some minor references

    • @ecarvalho17
      @ecarvalho17 4 года назад +1

      @@jackchojnacki3818 I don't quite like FFVIII and so I should not recommend it? I think that FFXV can keep more new player into the series than FFVI, for example. Not because its better, but because its a modern game with modern playability. I completed FFXV and I can say that it is far from bad despite being far from the best in the series either. That's my POV

    • @ecarvalho17
      @ecarvalho17 4 года назад +1

      Could you imagine a new comer going from FF1 to FF7 remake? It's much more feasible to go from FF7 remake to FF1 or just go through FFXV and play only the next games as SE releases new games in the series

    So let me get this straight, this game is basically fantasy Groundhog Day? If that's the case, I wonder how many loops the warriors went through before you finally killed chaos? And did the warriors have any memory of time starting over. Were there times where the warriors just wanted to commit a little chaos themselves as a day off for them?

    Adding on to my previous comment, and after hammering a very healthy amount of hours into that stranger of paradise demo, there's only one issue I have with the game, it's awesome that you can repeat levels and on higher difficulty for better loot, but it is a colossal mistake the story scenes can not be rewatched, I really hope this is addressed other than that, I literally can not stop playing this game, my massive games library is on pause while I play this fantastic game, I sincerely hope others will put aside 'not my final fantasy' thoughts, it has a dangerously addictive gameplay loop, and I'll patiently look very forward to final fantasy 16 and ff7 part 2, sorry to Square Enix tho, your other projects don't hold interest to me, just feed me to the wheel of more final fantasy, and a massive thankyou for putting this video together FF4EVA! ❤️👍

      You CAN rewatch the story scenes.
      A.) When you pause on the world map, there is an option called "Archive" and then there is a theater mode for all cutscenes.
      B.) If you wanted to see the cutscenes in the dungeons again, like your first time, I believe I found something in the options about "automatically skip cutscenes you have already seen." I believe this is turned on by default, but you can turn it off if you want.
