Fun fact: Here in Latin America, we don't call them "The Americas" as we take them as a single continent called "America". That's why each time someone call people from the United States "american" it causes both confusion and uncertainty.
Even in the US I always thought it was weird that the continents where called “North America” and “South America”. Like if they’re separate continents then why do they make the north/south distinction?
@@JJ-sq1fv North America could've been called Pariah (or something like that I kind of forgot), but they saw they were kind of connected so they just dropped it ig. Most continents are connected anyways so I think they should still be separate continents

And the Spanish conquerors had fought the Apaches, explored the plains of the central United States, discovered Vancouver, and the El Colorado canyon. The English never dominated more than 20% of today's United States. Spain dominated 60%, between Florida and Alaska. We also gave the United States independence (defeating England, with a naval blockade of England, in 1779-80, and the capture of 80 British warships, which sank the London Stock Exchange). Because people from Spanish-speaking countries are generally clueless about history. It's better for the Philippines to nurture its relationship with ASEAN (for the info of the Hispanics, ASEAN is a(n), more or less EU-version grouping in Asia) and Asian countries, regardless of its Hispanic culture and historical ties with Spain, which the Hispanics try to downplay and dismiss. The Hispanic world is rife with economic crisis and social/political turmoil i.e. Argentina and Venezuela are two best examples. Mexico is sliding into economic recession. Spain is also reeling, albeit recovering, from economic and socio-political crisis. Europe is in the state of decline, demographically, culturally and economically. In contrast, Asia is where you can find the most vibrant and dynamic economies, propelled by young and large populations. This is an Asian century - when Asia, led by China, Japan, India, South Korea and ASEAN, will drive and dominate the world economy and geopolitical sphere. So come on, Filipinos. The Philippines is better off with ASEAN and Asian brothers than trying to re-connect its long-gone historical and cultural ties with the estranged, remote Hispanic world.

Why are there too many Filipinos commenting in the comments section asking why the Philippines is not included? They should read the title as the reason is super clear: the Philippines doesn't belong to the "Spanish-speaking countries". Spanish is not spoken in the Philippines, Spanish is not the language used in official documents, Spanish is not taught in the Philippines, your average Filipino can't string words to make proper Spanish sentences, nor they can conjugate verbs like a native Spanish speaker. Just think about that. Combining the population of every single Spanish speaking country would still be 1 BILLION LESS in population than China and 1 billion less than in population than India.
China in 2018: 1,415,045,000 - 452,346,000 = 962,699,000 more which rounded up 1 billion. India in 2018: 1,352,930,000 - 452,346,000 = 900,584,000 more so 900+ million and India will overtake China in population before 2022. So yeah about a billion each more than all of the Spanish countries combined.

The video is about Spanish Speaking countries, not about ex-colonies of the Spanish Empire. The Philippines doesn't speak Spanish. Using Spanish loanwords doesn't mean your average Filipino can follow Mexican telenovelas in their original tongue nor watch Spanish language news from CNN Español and understand what the reporters are even saying. Your average Filipino doesn't speak ACTUAL SPANISH. Your average Filipino doesn't learn Spanish in schools. When speaking with ACTUAL Spanish speakers, what language do you think will an average Juan de la Cruz of the Philippines will speak? It will be in ENGLISH. Almost no one speaks Spanish here. Meanwhile English is everywhere and the Philippine languages like Tagalog are alive and kicking. No one forgot the Philippines. Philippines was ignored because the "Spanish" it can only speak is only limited to lamesa kutsara tinidor kumusta etc. while writing RUclips comments in English or occasionally Tagalog. Your average Pinoy can't even conjugate verbs like SER and ESTAR for Christ's sake.
Chavacano speakers are a minority and should not be used as an argument that the Philippines is a Spanish-speaking country. Most of the Chavacano speakers are in Zamboanga City. And please stop calling Chavacano as Spanish, it is a Spanish-based creole. It is its own language with its own grammar. Grammatically speaking, Chavacano is very different from Spanish. It's more similar to the Austronesian languages like Tagalog and Hiligaynon. It even uses word like AMO GAYOT and AMO GANE, particles like BA, PA, LANG, some Spanish words like FIRME have changed their meaning from the original Spanish, I can go and on about the differences between those two languages. Spanish is just a donor of lexicon of Chavacano, while the grammar of Chavacano is similar to many Philippine languages.
There are many cultural traits of the Philippines that are Hispanic, but the video is not about the union of Hispanic/Hispanicized nations. The title of the video is clear: SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES. No, the Philippines doesn't speak Spanish, plain and simple.

Spanish Empire in many ways took the torch of Rome. They expanded their culture, religion, language and way of life to natives across the globe, mixing and marry with them, incorporating them to the Empire. @@olakasen8140 The original people from the Iberian Peninsula did not ask for a new civilization when Rome conquered it either. It is interesting to remind Spain also has a kind of motherland, and it is Rome.
I beg to differ, when Spain was in the Philippines they pretty much destroyed a lot of the ancient culture since a lot of the history was lost during their occupation, that is why a lot of history of the country available is about the occupation of the country, they also pretty much implemented some type of caste system that pretty much labeled natives as “indios” which roughly means uneducated.
That's a weird way to say "massacred them, enslaved them, put in place a caste system with them at the bottom, tortured them into accepting Christianity, and attempted to erase their entire cultures and histories".

You forgot the Philippines , there is a place called Zamboanga City in the Philippines who speaks 70% spanish language and it's called Chavacano language . And one thing , the languages of the Philippines has so many spanish words used in our mother tounge. Also the names of the Filipinos are most likely like spanish names. Filipino names are not like Asian names but Filipino names had a similarity of latin american and spanish.

They didn´t exterminated or wipe out entire peoples but on the contrary tried to gave them a new civilization, a shared one with the Motherland
They don't ask for a new civilization but they got it. Cool.
The primary motivation of conquistadores was always personal enrichment. It's part of history and can't be changed, but it definitely was not good or morally ok
@@connormurphy683 that is totally historically inaccurate. Don't forget it was the British who started that diffamation campaign later called "the black legend".

And then he died.
He's just jealous that we had a bigger empire lmao
@@cam4234 The english empire didn't exist in his time, and the Spanish empire was alive more time than the english one
@J - LB Hahhahaa
@J - LB Yeah hahaaaa
Spain colonized Philippines for 333 years so we Filipinos know a bit of word of spanish
......,,,,,like kusina?
Literally many words.
Joshua Parrocha we also have words from Sanskrit in everyday use tbh :v (Bansa, bagyo, mukha, mahal)
Also, English is influencing our language more nowadays
A lot of Word in Tagalog was Originate In Different Countries like Chinese, Indonesia, Malay, Viet, India and Español, the Reason Why Filipino's Didnt know on how to Speak Spanish is Because Spaniards Didnt Want Filipino's Understand Their Language because Filipino's Will may Know their Plan
Big deal
Spanish for the win, putangina niyo papauto kayo sa gobyerno ng amerika e di naman kayo tinutulungan sinakop pa tayo. Ginawang battleground bansa natin tuwang tuwa pa kayo mga ulol

Will be funny see the new communist empire
@@raptortube757 how would it be communist
Yeah no kidding, Gran Colombia tried it and didn't go so well
@@maximipe Gran Colombia collapsed because of American intervention and because Bolivar wanted a state owned bank not a private sector, you would be brainwashed to believed it separated itself for no reason
@@reddyforlenny9389 you're forgetting how bolivar wanted to remain as a head of state instead of allowing elections, and also how he wasted a lot of time kicking royalists out instead of creating stable government institutions, Santander and Miranda were right
My country could be one of them we speak spanish a little bit
We were colonized by spanish longer than mexico
Im from Philippines
Not true the Spanish conquered Mexico for 528 years even to this day we got those motherfuckers in Mexico and they’re children walking around the wealthy Mexicans aren’t even native blood mixed they are Spaniards who go to Spain and come to Mexico to pick up they’re money and leave
When I went there I tried speaking Spanish with people and absolutely no one understood, they did understand English tho
joshua martinez we were colonized for 333 years lol
MaveriX 42 it was 528 years and still going on we have no wealth nor voice that’s real problem no one sees because they don’t understand us.
