i learned the choreo but when the song plays i'm too slow
heyy i suggest you dance at a lower speed then slowly work your way up to the normal speed!! :))
What you could do is slow down the music at first and when your are confident with that then work your way up to the faster pace. Its what I normally do!

If it helps anyone I practiced getting the groove first and watching myself on video compared to the other dancers in the original vid. And when doing this don’t get discouraged remember they are very talented and well practiced as well as lucky enough to have Matt as their
Choreographer. So if you can feel the groove and get some of the moves down at all GOOD JOB. Anyways after that I practiced just feeling it and doing them on my own recording myself then I went back to this and relearned it but it was easier this time cause I already kind of knew it but I was able to add in some more of the moves I been skipping cause they went by too fast or too hard at first. So remember that too when finding your groove don’t think you need to do the choreo perfectly cause if it’s difficult it can be overwhelming, so pick up the moves you can the easiest and practice to the music with those moves that you can remember and do with the Music. After a while it will become muscle memory and you can go back and add some more intricate moves and details. I realized myself I was doing two moves slightly wrong and some of the moves I had completely left out so It was easier this time to add them in and remember. THEN I put beats of the music to certain moves and also added my own counts Becasue it’s how I remember it best. If you are like me and need counts to help learn and retain I temcommend adding some in. He’s right that it’s easier to go with the music for most of it but if your like me you need to have counts to the moves to remember each move or you’ll mush them together or forget entirely. So I added 1&2&3& counts instead of just 1 2 3 and used the whole whole counts in certain areas where the moves slow down like the circle swoop with the arms before the chorus. I always timed it wrong and couldn’t feel it to the music very good. Until I added some counts and was able to judge how long I had to execute it. I hope this helps those who love to dance but have no experience learning from Choreography or at all or even if you have some basic dance experience like me but it was nothing like this. And learning it through a video is a bit harder and more intimitading then learning at your higshcool dance camp where they go slow and add counts to evey move and they are quite basic.
Also I LOVE tutting and have always danced in a tutting style when I’m just freestyling so learning the tutting here was so helpful with my confidence for the rest of my dance I focused on it and matching It to the music. And I feel so confident now doing it and that is really the best sort of feeling is making it your own dance. Knowing the moves at heart and executing them in your own style while nailing it and you know it cause you feel it. And when you dance like that and feel the confident badass inside and know you nailed the choreography for yourself it doesn’t then matter if other dancers look better you danced like a dancer with the energy of a brown dancer and not everyone can do that only a dancer can ❤cause it’s something you have to have within you. It has to come from you to want to learn the dance be able to dance to the music. You have to love it to put in that work. So go you 😉
