+Richard Ojeda what happens if I had a little screw in one of my back tires? tire is not punctured because the screw was too small I removed it and nothing happened But what if i'm 1mm away from a exploding tire???
outspolsis To be honest, im not sure what to do in that situation, but for sure, you should not go on the freeway/interstate in that case. City driving is fine, but you should get your tire patched or, more recommended, have it replaced.
This man has a very engaging energy while presenting information. Very helpful for an education video like this one. Well done, and thanks for the information.
Broham, nice vid, but I can't believe you didn't mention the need for proper tire pressure, which affect all the other performance characteristics you mention, bro....
Expel water out the sides ? Many years ago I drove around on Yokahama A509's which had a chunky open tread. Best and safest tires I've even had, then they stopped making them. Have a look at the tread on most tires these days. They have three or four deep groves along the axis while the side channels are blocked. These deep grooves are fine when the tires are new, but 10 to 20 k's later they can't expel enough water and you hydroplane. Throughout the video and in the animations you're showing tires which have water exit channels both along the axis and laterally. But it's tough to find a tire now with an open groove pattern along BOTH the axis and to the sides. I'm no tire expert and I don't want to sound like a smart arse but in my mind it seems that the more ways water has to get out from under the tire the safer it is. Just look at F1 wet weather tires. I get the impression that tire manufacturers are making tires that become useless sooner so you have to buy more tires. I understand the business strategy but even if you do the right thing and check your tire wear regularly and see plenty of tread, you may not realize how unsafe your tires are until you find out the hard way. And it's my opinion, just my opinion, that tire manufacturers are playing a dangerous game with safety to sell more tires.
Ellesmere Wildwood Every block tread tire i owned has been excellent. I have owned a lot of the other style tires, never had good luck with them. They are great as highway eco tires, but they are terrible in rain, snow, mud, etc. My go to tire now is the Douglas Xtra Trac II/All Season.
A great video sir. Just a little doubt, in tire profile the height gestured by you and the one shown in diagram do not match, so can you clarify which one is actually used for tire profile?
I don't even know if the patterns in each of my SUV's tires are the same... would that change anything o~o This high tech tires really do grip to rocks under the snow and in off road for the best traction possible, the bad part is when your car is really heavy and the rocks just stay stuck in any space they can find between the ridges.
I'm trying to tell my mom that slick tires works better on asphalt than treaded tire does, but she basically thinking that i'am an idiot for telling her that. Sadge
Your engine or transmission have no idea of the speed you're going, and spin the same way at all speeds. A highway guy puts 200K miles on his car going an average of 60mph. A city person going with the average speed of 20mph(3 times slower) put exactly same motor hours and stress on car components at 200K/3 = 63K miles.
Unfortunately tires are one of the biggest polluters. It has so less rubber and all other kinds of crap that they can't deteriorate naturally and in a friendly way.
Brian, If you made a 30 minute video on tires..I'd still watch it.
Henry Hsiao yup, me too!
+Henry Hsiao yup Me three! For the last 6 months, I've been a tire nerd/junkie and doing extensive tire research. What have I become?

your tire will not 'explode' due to a small puncture or even a big puncture (depending what part of the tyre has been screwed)

Love how this guy presents, his way of talking, expressions and emphasis on certain words - perfect!
OMG, so helpful. Exactly the kind of thing I want to know. Is it possible to do a 30-60 mins long video of this? :)
This tire video is of the most informative I've found on utoob. Thanks!
wow! man you are one of the best, clear precise and easy to understand. thanks and Congrats
CNET on Cars should really have its own RUclips channel.
I have more respect for tires now. no wonder some are very expensive

Thank you Mr. Cooley!
We want more of these educational videos please!
been looking for content on tyres like this for a long time!
Great piece! I love your enthusiasm and knowledge.
Brian Cooley: You are my Walter Cronkite for automotive reviews. Thanks for doing such a remarkable job
I don't know why I watched this.
Recommendations are reaching new level😅
Wow, never knew how much movement the feet on the tread has. Amazing.
Me at 2am who need sleep : I'm interested...
yoooooooo same and im baked af
Only Cooley could make me watch a video on tires..
good explanation, good music
As cool as low profile tires are you gotta be careful so it does not bend the rim when you go over a hole.

Kumhos
I have a low rolling resistance tire. Does that effect the car's traction?
Great video as always.

Hey I heard that the first two numbers can be a lil different right ? I’m looking to get 205 55 R 16 and original is 215 60 R 16 . Should be alright?
I wish he made a really in depth video covering the points
Great information sharing.....
Brilliant, Cooley
A low profile tire isn't always the best way to go!
***** could you guys do a topic on car wheels or rims. talk about what sizes of the diameter and the width are recommended. offset and such. please?
MEETS THE ASS FAULT.
205/65-15 to upgarde 215/75-15 can u tell me..its incress the millgeg or not
dont ask how, but this helped me for science (friction with tire example LOL)
So all this time it wasn't some cool random illuminati designs on tires
the racing tyre lookin so sick or is it just me
I don't even know if the patterns in each of my SUV's tires are the same... would that change anything o~o

That first tire looks a lot like Sumitomos that were OEM on my car.
0:40 why does a tyre change shape what's the science behind it please explain
Tires are very important
halo i am blizz i would love to use your footage in a video i am editing about tires can i please use your video as cut in's
Lose the American style dramatic background animations and music, go more in depth and you've got a gem of a teaching video. Excellent teaching!
Why Car tires doesn't slip on rims? Why do they have such good grip on rims?
cant find the link
in the description
@@fargeeks No it's not - it takes you to the same video we already watched lol
Brilliant!
Sipes. It's all about the sipes. :)
Intresting
3:13 wow what is that infiniti doing? its wheels are not even spinning!
acche2 shutter speed on camera is equal to the rpm of the wheels
turn up your rendering distance
It’s gliding 😂
Got it we should all have slicks
I'm trying to tell my mom that slick tires works better on asphalt than treaded tire does, but she basically thinking that i'am an idiot for telling her that. Sadge
Nice info :D
SUPERRRRRRRBBBBBBB!!!!!
Nice😁
did I watch this video before or just a big deja vu?

0:37 wait what?? How does that happen??

me : they spin
forgot material or type of rubber used...
I like it :)
Re-upload?
No it is not a re upload stupid.
Jayden Thompson Pretty sure it is. I'm not the only one that believe they've already seen this video. Probably just needed to edit something out.
Who watching in 1124 BC?
Unfortunately tires are one of the biggest polluters. It has so less rubber and all other kinds of crap that they can't deteriorate naturally and in a friendly way.
3:13 Suv not functioning
I think tires work by spinning around?
There's a lot more to it than that lol
Dude makes any video awesome! Props man, you got it!
If you will
Vanessa trim
you look like the white Gus Fring

How do tires work? Well, they roll on the ground.
Low profile is a silly trend or fashion.
