I was there in the front row, Miedema is the most talented player in the league without a doubt. I’m an Arsenal fan but cheered for Viv and always will do. Katie was outstanding. Great review as ever girls, keep them coming. xx
Yeah this was a great game. I wore my Viv Arsenal jersey while watching lol. I wanted Arsenal to win or draw while also Viv to do well personally, so her getting a goal and it ending a draw was really a perfect outcome. And then Beth getting a goal too- you really can't write a better story. I still think Jonas needs to go and that City will finish higher than Arsenal overall (unless Jonas is sacked and someone competent replaces him quickly and effectively), but for this game anyways, I was happy with the scoreline and storyline (Beth/Viv).
Arsenal vs. Manchester City was definitely the top match of the WSL opening round. Great goals in a very exciting match. Stangedecision by Jonas to leave both Alessia Russo and Beth Mead on the bench. Foords disallowed goal was a very close call. VAR technollogy would have been needed to resolve this scene. Katie Mcabe absolutely kicked the ball, so it wasn't a foul. Also Kim little's incident with Chloe Kelly also wasn't a foul, so it was correct to let the match go on. Mylie must have been very happy to see both of her moms score.
I really can't stand Jonas Eidevall and you are right, he is easy to hate. I don't hate him I just don't think he is the coach for Arsenal. I was not impressed that Man City got 5 yellow cards either.
I'm an Arsenal fan but, Foord was offside, her arm was definitely sticking out. And the ref definitely should've called a foul for the Katie McCabe tackle on Chloe Kelly. Just the way it is. In these kinds of games they should definitely have a VAR. In the mens game even smaller clubs in less popular games they have VAR, so why don't the women.
On Kelly-McCabe it was actually a foul on Katie, the other two referees confirmed it, it was stated by Man City head coach after the refs told him, it was just the main ref declined that ruling idk why, it was already a missed call
Like how? Katie is the one going in for the tackle. Kelly is just running with the ball at her feet. While Katie tackles her from behind. So how is Kelly the one to blame?
"Even if the ref is cute." lol, at least I wasn't the only one to notice 😅 the var is imminent in the wsl. And sorry, but f you, Jonas... I've been a gooner for a while, and I don't like him at all. He give me the same vibes as Vlatko, with so much talent by his side but doesn't know what to do with all these great players.
nothing against Arsenal but that was a foul but also the ref had an handball decline for Arsenal i think she knew she had to pay them back for that that is why she let it go. Happy arsenal fans still cheer for Viv nice to see.
@stephencrewes5773 I never said she was offside read properly she wasn't, I'm talking about handball if u watched u would've known the was a handball decline .
Please no VAR in the WSL, it's ruined men's football IMO (among other things). It looked like a foul on Kelly but then City should have defended way better and not let Kafaji get away like that. I can see what Jonas was trying to do by playing Foord on the right and Stina in the middle, because they are the quickest players and City play a high line. Pleased for Viv and loved her absolute non-celebration.
Trumpesque whingeing and whining after the result is how the _men's game_ has gone ...down the toilet. I admire women's football, because generally all the players seem to enjoy _playing_ and aren't out to simulate being maimed for life after every challenge. Speculation afterwards about 'whether this..' or 'shouldn't that...' is the start of a slippery slope ...imho. IN CONTRAST: it's always great to see players from both teams enjoying a hug and a chat on the pitch after the final whistle. You won't see THAT in a men's match - the massive egos wouldn't ever allow it!
I think you missed the real dream story of the first weekend of the WSL. Japanese player, Kiko Seike made her debut for Brighton. Bear in mind that this was not only Kiko's first time in the WSL but also the first time playing for a club anywhere outside of Japan. She marked her debut with a stunning hat trick in Brighton's 4-0 win. The other goal scorer? None other than former Chelsea player, Fran Kirby making HER debut for the club too!
It seems Jonas purposely dint put Beth to play alongside with Viv,let it not be a Rivalry btw two partners. But am happy both scored and it was a DRAW.Moreover you all know the … btw Katie McCabe and Chloe Kelly anytime they meet.😀😀.i think Katie kicked C.K purposely as she’s always fond of.And they took Advantage of it.
Hello Sarah and Sara. All friends in the end of the beginning? Just wait 'til next time? P.S. See also Park goal v Paris FC. Imagine if she got chance to do this v USA at Wembley.

@@blueghost3648 what I mean is that the foul is on Katie not kelly
🎶 that magic moment 🎶😂
Sometimes a wild game is just what you want.

The decision making on the lead up to arsenal’s second goal was disgraceful xxx
have i mentioned jess park ...yeah
you're right, that assistant ref is cute, but her call was wrong, Foord was onside, so things evened themselves out eventually
Kim fell however she wasn’t in a hurry to get to get up.
It didn't look like getting up was that easy. It was a tangle.
No one talking about how Laia Condina shut down Bunny Shaw.

Jonas 👍💪😁🇸🇪
katie ( for once!!) was ok little was extremely dubious
❤
i think man city will finish higher
Beth and Alexia didn't start because they had a Champions League game later in the week. They will start then most probably! Managing Minutes.

Looked offside to me.
