Thank you for this video I am a disabled man on a fixed income who loves Disney and I have just started collecting/trading. This pin collecting on a budget is great for me especially as I am brand new to trading.
buy collections! once bought over 100 pins PLUS a giant pin binder on ebay for only 60 dollars. not sure why no one else bid on it, i got a lot of cool vintage traders from it!!
Such great tips & advice. I've gone a little pin-crazy the last couple of weeks, so I've decided to put myself in pin jail for the next month. (only trading, no buying) TFS, Emily!
Awesome tips Emily! I try to stay to a pin budget buuuut sometimes I just don’t stick to it 😬 really good call on the DSSH Pins sometimes they get driven up super high because of the hype but trickle back down.
An additional tip is decide what TYPE of pins you want to collect. When I started collecting I wanted any kind of pin, usually rack pins so that I could have a LOT of pins ( Quantity was most important to me). Now that I’ve been collecting for a while, I’m transitioning my collection to be only LE pins, or event pins, and so I have a lot of pins I no longer want in my collection. I wish I had just started collecting fewer, more limited edition pins rather than a large amount of rack and mystery pins. But you may feel the opposite!! For some people, LE pins aren’t worth chasing. Decide what’s best for you, and use your budget to reach your goals
Yes, that’s a huge component in deciding what to collect! I think a lot of people find themselves start in large amounts of low end pins, then transition to higher end collecting
This is such a great video. I have definitely been in trouble because I buy every neat pin I see. Then I go to the park and see I've bought an OE for twice the price! Pins will always be in the market.
Loving the budget idea. I really really want profile pins but they range from $100 to $500+ and that is ridiculous. Waiting for a low price is kind of hard!!
Such wise words and great advice. Fab video. Thanks for the tips. Will definitely be taking these on board. I've fallen in to the trap of buying everything I like!
Thanks for this video! I bought my first pin a few weeks ago, I'm not sure what direction I'm heading with this, so I appreciate this kind of "background" info a lot.
I really enjoy your videos, I don't even collect pins😁 yet I watched the whole thing, great info and advice for any type of collections. Love the galaxy ears
This is such a great video! So much perspective and good advice on pin trading. Patience is a priority, it is so easy to get caught up in the frenzy and regret it later.
No but seriously great video. My wife and I are new to this (she is a HUGE Disney fan as am I but new to pins). And we are finding hard because... financially... I can get any pin I want too. BUT, I know that isn’t smart. I’ve gotten a few booster sets and grab bags, and I love the Disney ducks so have gotten some cool individuals from sellers on Facebook. But, I want to collect more so than trade (if I do trade it will be with cast members only). I now know, thanks to this video, how to go about that. I wrote down a few themes/movies that I really like. Now I know how to target my searches. Thanks!
Btw, are you obsessed with completing sets? Like, I have several Princess nesting dolls from the series but not all of them. Should I complete the set? What about hidden mickeys?
Are you still collecting? I just got into the hobby and can afford to spend some money but I’m also not sure it’s the wisest choice for my funds. I can’t really find a reason to collect other than that it makes me happy but it also makes me anxious thinking about how there will always be a desire to get a few more and it’s an endless money pit. I’ve purchased around 150 pins so far myself. My goal is to get 3-5 pins for each of the movies Ive seen and then maybe grow 3-5 medium to larger collections of 10-25 pins.
This is some great advice...I’ve been wanting to start collecting but have to watch a budget, this really helps! Who do you use to pick up LEs in the parks? Also, can you share our next time the online store has some deals?
I use a variety of different people from the pin trading/selling groups on FB. I’ve also been using mydisneyshop.com a lot for WDW releases. Disneypinsblog.com should always post whenever there’s a sale going on!
What’s the best way or place for someone that lives in Canada to get pins I’ve tried everything Instagram, Facebook Disney pins shop etc but everything is just so expensive the shipping is usually $20 or more and thats not including the price of the actual pin. I live in Canada and I find it extremely hard to get pins. if anyone knows of a authentic Disney pin seller in Canada I would be really great full if you could suggest some Thanks
I'm a collector on a budget, unfortunately I don't feel like I have a specific collection as I love everything!! I did want to as how you feel about all the Boxlunch pins. They just released princess dresses and i love them (but I'm in Canada so I may never get them). However they do sell some nice ones online. I know they are Disney Licenced but, I wonder what your feelings are on them.
I’m kind of conflicted with BoxLunch, I like they’re designs but I don’t like the quality (ie soft enamel). I’ve gotten ones where you don’t see those type of designs on any other Disney pins
When I trade I take the pins that I like maybe more then others off my land yard so that way they don’t ask for them also I like your ears 😮 where did you get them?! I have sally ears
Do you have any tips on how to pick your main collections? I’m very new to Disney pins and there are so many movies I love I’m struggling to not buy all the pins 😅
If you can, go for things that aren’t as crazy popular (like Ariel, Maleficent, Marie, etc) since the super popular are always going to be the most expensive
Thank you for the tips!! You mentioned an outlet by you. I know you do Disneyland Resorts and I have been really trying to find an outlet close to the parks. Do you mind if you provide the name of the outlet as I would love to check it out!
If you go to conventions, check the sellers there, I got a few that are very pretty for $5 each (one is a BatB stained glass rose pin, one is a Shanghai park opening pin; both pins are sold for about $15 in the parks). Also, you mentioned different eBay stores, but are there any amazon sellers that you trust?
Hi Emily. Great video. You always have such wonderful advice. I would love to support your Etsy business and am in the market for new ears. Who isn't, ha ha. May I know your store or how to order from you? Feel free to private message me if you prefer. 😀
Ballin' on a budget! Great tips, Emily.
I may not have money, but I’ll still be collecting pins, haha
Great idea for a video!! And I loooooove those ears!
DisneyKittee hi disneykittee!!!!!
Thanks, Becka! I’ve been on a real big DIY ear kick if you can tell, lol

This is a great subject to touch on!! Pins are a black hole one can fall into for sure! ☀️
Awesome tips Emily! I try to stay to a pin budget buuuut sometimes I just don’t stick to it 😬 really good call on the DSSH Pins sometimes they get driven up super high because of the hype but trickle back down.
Sometimes it’s so hard to be patient, but it almost always ends up being worth it!

Awesome video, you deserve more subs!
This is such a great video. I have definitely been in trouble because I buy every neat pin I see. Then I go to the park and see I've bought an OE for twice the price! Pins will always be in the market.
Great advice. When I order off of eBay I try to find a seller who has more than one pin I’d like that way I am saving on the shipping 😀
Yes, shipping can add so much hidden costs!
Loving the budget idea. I really really want profile pins but they range from $100 to $500+ and that is ridiculous. Waiting for a low price is kind of hard!!
I've been waiting for a video like this!! Definitely needed some of these tips haha!
Agreed I’m building my collection up now and ever le I get it’s for collection only. And it’s specific to like 3 things I want to Collect x
Such wise words and great advice. Fab video. Thanks for the tips. Will definitely be taking these on board. I've fallen in to the trap of buying everything I like!
I buy Disney gift cards when Kroger is giving 4x fuel points; then I wait for a good deal on Shop Disney.
That’s a great way to help save!
Zip-a-Dee-Doo Disney Thanks! It also helps me set my budget.
Really good advice! Thanks.
Thanks for this video! I bought my first pin a few weeks ago, I'm not sure what direction I'm heading with this, so I appreciate this kind of "background" info a lot.
Great tips. I find myself trying to budget myself, because I collect more than just Disney pins.
I really enjoy your videos, I don't even collect pins😁 yet I watched the whole thing, great info and advice for any type of collections. Love the galaxy ears
I always value your informative and thoughtful videos!
This is such a great video! So much perspective and good advice on pin trading. Patience is a priority, it is so easy to get caught up in the frenzy and regret it later.
I’ve only been impatient one time and I definitely regretted it later!
Definitely needed this video. When I went to Disneyland, I blew through $300 on pins in two days...
Thanks for the Disney shop tip. I have just bought my first pins from them.
I received my first order from Disney shop today. OMG. packaged so well that the backer cards were not bent. I wish there was a shop for Disneyland
This is an awesome video.

@@kristin89 yes. My advice would for sure be to narrow your collection focus down.
Hello Emily! I love those ears that you're wearing! Thanks for all the great advice! :)
Thank you! I’ve been trying to make more ears and diversify my collection, haha
Nice ideas ❤️👍😎 and awesome information ❤️🧜♀️
Nice purse girl 💅🏻
Sadly I slept on getting the first Latte pin, Cheshire Cat, but have the rest. It is definitely too high for me right now so I wait. Great advice!

Great tips!! I also love to take advantage of eBay 15%-20% off any item promotions from time to time for grails
Those eBay coupons have been super awesome as of late!

Pinpics hasn't been working lately, but very good advice as usual.
I know, PinPics being down has been killing me!
Where did you get those ears
I need those ears where did you get them 💜💜

I live in Arizona and always go to the Arizona Mills outlet! I believe the outlet closest to Disneyland is at the Citadel mall, but I've never been.
Thank you! That was very helpful!! New subscriber in your channel :-)

Yes, that’s a good tip too! I actually never buy pins from Amazon, it’s less safe than eBay in terms of pins
I’d purposely get splash mountain pins just to trade them off because splash mountain scared the shizzle out of me.
