OMG! That is SO flipping ADORABLE! I just recently started playing animal crossing, so I don't know much about it's lore... (If it has any) But cannon or not, I just felt something towards Tom Nook. The only thing I've ever seen or heard about him is how much of a demon he is. But other than him charging me for breathing, he really doesn't seem to be that bad. I'm kinda growing to like him. And this animation just assisted in growing that attachment. It really is pure and adorable.
The previous games had quite a bit of lore in them, all the way up to Happy Home Designer, which divulged that Nook donates the majority of his earnings to an orphanage. He also said in that game that, despite not actually being the devil, he'll let people keep thinking that way about him as long as it helps motivate them. That's not even half of his backstory; almost every non-neighbor (the Able Sisters, Kapp'n, Crazy Redd, etc.) has a lot of history that spanned the series. It's almost disappointing that New Horizons has so much less lore to explore between the characters.
I LOVED THIS!! All the animations I've seen about T&T wanted to show Nook as a heartless and cruel businessman who only cares about himself, there's only a few wholesome animations of Tom Nook and this one's so cute!
