I’m not so sure Idalia will be retired. The bar has been raised pretty high for gulf storms. Look at hurricane Sally for comparison. Despite being weaker at landfall, the death and damage numbers were nearly identical to Idalia, yet Sally wasn’t retired. If Idalia gets retired, then Sally was 100% snubbed in 2020.
Idalia should’ve done more damage first it was stronger than Ida and New Orleans got the western but of the eyeball which meant the surge went into the city instead of out in ida
