Thank you! This answers my question, and isn't just an ad for your products (no offense intended, I just need to know what winch I need for lifting, and you answered that perfectly without just telling me about a product. Though they do look good!)
I like that they start off by saying the answer to the question is right there in the manual. "What is the correct application and use for my product?" "It's a puzzler. Maybe consult the included-for-free-in-the-box-with-your-product documentation?"
Thanks for the video. I need a winch for a simple tilt welding table and got a two way one thinking it was right. I think I need a break winch. I believe they are the same ones used on construction lights that you can pull behind a truck.
Thanks for your question! Many people would use a pulling winch in that scenario. One of our models with a hand brake (such as the DL2000AB- www.dutton-lainson.com/proddetail.php?prod=14730) is designed for applications like you described. However, you could also use a brake winch if you wanted the additional safety factor of the automatic friction brake in that type of winch.
Thanks for your question, Darius! Our chain drive brake winches are intended to be used on boat lifts and operated with a large boat lift wheel instead of a handle.
Thanks for your question! Both D-L brake and worm gear winches are suitable for lifting applications, and there are pros and cons to using either type. We offer a much wider variety of weight capacities in our brake winch lines and they offer a much faster operation than worm gear winches, but they require a minimum load to function properly. Worm gear winches do not require an minimum load to function properly, but they are much slower to operate than brake winches and are only available in two weight capacities.
@@DuttonLainson i just purchased 3 of your worm gear winches with the hex drive for my jack system to lift my truck camper on and off my truck. the previous jacks had regular pulling winches which looks like a disaster waiting to happen. i almost went cheap and bought china winches but i like supporting USA manufacturing.
Thanks for your question! The only mounting bracket we offer that might work in this application is the 6565 universal mounting bracket. You can learn more about it here- www.dutton-lainson.com/proddetail.php?prod=24110
@@DuttonLainson Thanks for taking the time to reply, this would be perfect for what I want. Can you tell me the dimensions for the hole centres please?

I don't think I would try it, if you think a winch is not holding a load, even if your truck is stuck it's not holding the weight it's only pulling it the weight is on the ground, Now I installed one on a farm disc I built but it's pu about 12 inches and nobody is under it and not really holding the load very long as I installed stops on the rod So just use common sense, I wouldn't advise using it to hold a engine or something

If they are unsafe to lift, they are only safe to pull on level ground - and unsafe to pull vehicle out of a ditch or up the side of a ravine.
Another dream shattered...it's a good thing.
Better your dreams than your head LOL
@@woodworkerroyer8497 hahaha so true!!
How did you mount it to the pole?
Dang. Been using the wrong type wench for hoisting deer to skin, for 45 years! Lol
lol dang 45 years?!
...automatic brake or worm gear won't help you one bit if the cable breaks.
Hello what type of winch would you recommend for pulling a trailer up and lowering down a steepish driveway? Thanks

Hi, I just wanted clarification on what your chain drive break winches are meant for?
Thanks for your question, Darius! Our chain drive brake winches are intended to be used on boat lifts and operated with a large boat lift wheel instead of a handle.
There is a small brake winch for lifting
Where I can buy this winch in Dubai
Is a brake winch or a worm gear better for lifting? I fear a brake winch has more parts that could fail.

Great job 👍👍👍
Make different types of winch video
Ok, so you can use an electric winch as a hoist ?
They said so. Just as long as it has an auto brake without the lever thing.
I had an accident this way and died
