We discovered the next step in #PharmaMarScience from María Jesús Martín, head of the chemical processes department.
Her mission is clear: to produce a crucial compound for pharmaceutical development, but obtaining it from its natural source would mean taking more samples from invertebrates, which is neither sustainable nor reflects our values.
The solution? Synthesise it / "copy it in the lab"😁.
