@@ethanwong1189 Yep. The shiny ground items respawn every 10 minutes and have a low chance of finding a master ball. I actually found this out accidently and only my first spot found a master ball.

@@DeviousKitten27 After you beat the elite four, it'll guide you into the cerulion cave. Just make your way through and you'll run into mewtwo. moltres is within the cave that is right before the elite four. articuno is within a cave on the water to the east of that city on the bottom left of the map (that you need surf to get to)

I was with my friend when he catched Rayquaza with a poke ball in pokemon emerald back when we were kids, that didn't stop me from carrying a crapton of ultraballs when i had to catch it myself. It's just basic pokemon common sense since red and blue.

My dude, this isn't your first time doing this. You should know that the premier ball is a glorified pokeball, and just because RNG does something once, it doesn't mean it'll be easy other times. Stepping to a shiny legendary with anything less than 100 ultra balls or a master ball is insanity. Lol
Tried it twice on stream today, again, and caught it twice with ~10 or so Ultra Ball attempts. I had shitty luck, 100 balls will catch it 90% of the time lol.
@@SUK This is shiny hunting, where you're gaming the RNG. Better to have 100+ ultra balls and be fine 99.9% of the time. Because RNG cuts both ways. ;P
Also, in Let's Go specifically, there's no reason not to only bother with ultra balls at this point. That sweet sweet x3 multiplier is too hard to ignore anymore.
I know right as soon as I finish the Elite Four I maxed out my Pokeballs and you can only hold 999 and that's what I have on all my balls except for premium ball at master ball of course

I can’t feel bad. You were super underprepared for this fight, and went based on one occurrence of good RNG. You need like 200+ ultras and as many golden razz as you can farm before attempting something like this.

The fact that he failed this Mewtwo doesn't really have to do with the fact that he didn't have a masterball. Given that legendaries in this game don't use struggle or run, if you have even a halfway decent amount of Ultra Balls, (which isn't exactly hard because in the postgame you can just farm the Gym Leaders daily and score a few hundred ultra balls.)
You should be more than fine, especially if you use dual joycons and berries.
Pokemon such as Mr. Mime, Lapras, Tauros, ect. have fairly low catch rates. Nowhere near as low as legendaries, but still very low. However, these guys are far more likely to be Masterball material because, while their catch rate is significantly higher, they also run fairly quickly, making for a fairly large margin of failure, ironically far higher than the legendaries.
That's why you don't ever use the master ball on anything except Mewtwo
True once I used over 300 ultra balls + random amount of other balls in soulsilver, ended up having to use master ball anyway. Mewtwo don't play fair lmao
I mean, legendaries don't use Struggle in this game, nor do they run, so if you have even a halfway decent amount of ultra balls and berries, you should be fine without a masterball, as you have an essentially infinite amount of time to catch them.
Other Pokemon, such as Lapras, Kangaskhan, Tauros, etc, have very low catch rates, but run after only a few balls thrown, so they are statistically more likely to be masterball residents than the legendaries are.
Maelstromof Chaos legendaries don’t even run,but if it’s the birds in the wild,then they can run,but mewtwo never runs.

Bruh, he doesn't even need the masterball for legendaries in this game. A halfway respectable amount of ultra balls would have sufficed, especially when paired with sync bonus and berries.

I mean, you're not wrong. It's just that even a copious amount of ultra balls and berries has such an incredibly low margin of failure, that the master ball is more of a precaution than anything.
Which is why I did my legendaries fairly early on in my Let's Go living dex. That way, I could further justify using a master ball when a rare shiny inevitably fixes to run.
It's literally the Mewtwo ball, with a big fat M on it for Mewtwo.
Sorry, bro. That's a damn shame. I expected Mewtwo to be difficult, but I caught it on the first throw in an ultra ball with a golden razz berry. I was shocked that I got so lucky. Hopefully the next one isn't such a pain for you!

Bummer, the Master Ball is what it is, but 1700 resets with 15 Ultras is where you went wrong, you should have like 200 of them for any shiny hunt in my opinion. Live and learn though GL on the next round.
The thing is, I’ve never struggled to catch it before. If I had, I would have grinded to get more supplies to catch it 😩

Fyi Chuck you can get a master ball in cerulean cave in one of the glowing spots... Obviously low odds for that but I did get one myself so it is possible

I feel your pain. I hunted for a shiny Zekrom in Alpha Sapphire a while back, like maybe 2015. I remember I lost track after about 2000+ resets, and over 2 months of on again off again hunting. I eventually found it while dozing off while watching the Wreck-it-Ralph movie, and that woke me up instantly. I'd like to say I was pretty prepared, but I didn't have my master ball for this, but had a sleeper, and kept it in low yellow health. Around 40 turns in, I get my first critical capture fail on a timer ball. After about 90 total turns, and many timer and ultra balls later, it struggle killed itself. I will always remember how sad I was that day.

At least I redeemed myself with Latios about a year later. Just felt like sharing my story, cuz I know how much this feeling hurts

If you ever decide to pick it back up again, I wish you luck. Latios was way easier to find and catch for me. Just, make triple sure you're well (over)prepared if you used your masterball already.

Man, that's tragic. The legendaries vary so much. When I caught my Mewtwo, it took 3 ultra balls... Same with Moltres & Articuno - just a couple of ultra balls. Zapdos probably took like 50 ultra balls for no reason

I don’t blame you. I also labbed catching non-shiny mewtwos and he ate 20-30 premier balls per try before getting caught so I assumed that the hundred I had was enough. On the plus side I did have my Master-ball but originally had no plans to use it.

@@PlayerZelda this isn't entirely true. I believe that none of the legendaries can run, however the snorlax's can. I tried to catch the snorlax below lavender town with a pokeball, and it ran from me. Luckily for me it was just through the story and not for a shiny hunt.

I caught shiny Mewtwo in a premier ball but i Have 900 pokeballs 300 premier balls and a few hundred great balls at my disposal. However I used the double controller trick where one controller holds the master ball so that the first controller has a green circle

I always stack up for Mewtwo & save the Masterball for that moment. I try to use all other balls & use the Masterball for a backup plan. Gotta be smart on ur feet & have a plan A & plan B
