This is one of the best examples of "looks harder than it actually is." I remember learning this at university in 2012 and once I had dissected the music and looked at how each of the chromatic runs were structured it was memorized in about 2 weeks. It's so comfortable in the hands and I recommend every pianist take a crack at it. You'll be amazed at how nice it is to play.
i know. every one is scared. i remember my teacher saying me that i have crazy courage in learning new pieces. i start them whit no pullback even they are incredibly hard. i was never scared of a hard piece. i just was figuring out what a long time i have to practice. in this way i mastered crazy pieces like op 25 no 11 chopin, fantaise impromtu, hungarian rhapsody no 6 and much more.
How hard would this be in comparison to a liszt piece like un sospiro?
@@nackle_k this would be harder than un sospiro, generally speaking of course because theyre 2 very different pieces
My piano teacher says it is around LTCL level
Haven't learnt it ofc, cause I just started it this morning, but I've spent 1.5 hours on it disecting it and taking it into chunks, and I've memorized the first 21 bars (moving onto the bit where it goes to downward thirds) and as you said, it fits perfectly into the hands thus far, and further on it looks like it will as well! and in regards to the guy further down saying he jumps into pieces without fear, I jumped into Ballade no.1 and multiple Rach preludes without hesitation (mind you the Rach part came after learning the Ballade) and my hardest piece before this was Clair de lune. I learnt so much through 1 incredibly hard piece and now can use all that skill and knowledge to learn, somewhat equally yet less hard pieces. Rachmaninoff and Chopin are just gods in my opinion, followed directly by Liszt and Scriabin!
This is unbelievably clean for such a difficult piece, really well done. Would love to see more Russian music in the future.
Thank you! I will play lots of Russian music.:)💕

For real, your skills are incredible! Also, playing like that on an electrical piano is really hard. I guess you‘re studying in a music conservatory, right?
Thanks much :) 😍 You have already made a good channel. I'm honored! :)
Yes, I am a professional pianist. You also look professional pianist. I like your music. 🎹👍👍
@Kassia Thank you! Are you still a student or do you already have a degree?
I have a BA degree. 🤩 Now I am taking a year off form my graduate program in a music conservatory. Thanks much for your interest :)
I think Rachmaninoff was very pissed at the world and wrote this as revenge.
"Let's see if you can play this, bastards HAHAHAHA"
Can relate.
Well he did get rob before composing this...
He actually was pissed lol
Probably Because he try étude no 4 by Liszt vers. 1818
then him, chopin, and liszt were probably very grumpy..
This is honestly my favourite Rachmaninoff piece

Excellent performance, nearly as good as Lugansky's (which is the best in my opinion) It's a really difficult piece and not many people can achieve this level of clarity, even among famous concert pianists
Valou Dems Thank you🙏💖
Yeah Lugansky is the gold standard IMO for 4th Moment Musicaux and s/he even had almost the same pedalling and clarity. Excellent job.
@@arlandeetagaytayan4154 I totally agree, I think Lugansky is the gold standard for Rachmaninov in general
Theres no way kassia isnt a concert pianist him/herself lol
@@valoulenstein9020 He's good, but have you heard Sofronitsky and Horowitz? They seem to capture more of a spirit of the original works.
Apparently Rousseau has competition. Jejejeje

Nostalgic. Rachmaniof is one of the best classic player all time and also one of the hardest player ever. Thanks! Greting from germany!
Jano Piano and he never hesitates to make use of his awful big hands
Your interpretation of this piece is incredible, remembers me a bit of Luganky's interpretation and like his interpretation of this piece is legendary and yours is too.
Perdí la cuenta hace mucho de las veces que he vuelto a este vídeo para escuchar esta interpretación. Gracias🙏🏻
This is one of my favorite piano pieces by Rachmaninoff. Your performance is beautiful and inspiring. Perfection.
Rachmaninoff was the craziest composer ever. His pieces are real "tours de force"! Extraordinarily complex.
I'm very picky professional classical musician/teacher (pianist) and I'd like to say that you are an extremely rare case when NOTHING irritates me in your performance but inspires! Great idea with lights.
Great interpretation! Im sure this channel will blow up if u play some more pieces like this like, for example, chopins etudes! Keep up the gr8 work!
Amazing!! I got goosebumps and a bit teary eyed at the end. Never before....👏👏👏
I love Rachmaninoff. This is so satisfying to listen and watch. Thank you.
I knew that Rachmaninoff composed really hard songs... but this one is out of what I would call insane... honestly one of the best performances Ive ever heard of this piece
This is, without a doubt, one of the best things I've ever heard. Thank you!
I have been listening this non--stop from past 2 days...this is totally golden...
Your way of playing this piece is my absolute favourite. You hands strike like thunder

ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY.....SO GLAD I DISCOVERED THIS. thank you.
Прекрасно изпълнение,Касия.Благодаря.❤
I'm convinced Rachmaninoff was on some hardcore amphetamines.
Plot twist: he was a stoner and this is him "chill".
And Angerrrr, he was robbed before writing this pieve

good interpretation, very well played lol hopefully ill be able to play this one day
Wonderful rendition! Thanks for sharing.
Finally finished this piece after nearly a year, playing it for my recital. This is such an amazing and fun piece!!!
I literally watched all the pianists who played this phenomenal art piece. No one played it as you can. Some would say that there is some exaggeration, but for me, it is exactly how Rachmaninoff played and expressed it. I guess you can still do better))) Keep it up. You really inspired me to take piano lessons again which I gave up 10 years ago. I will update you soon with my progress.
@@Eryx.Muadib wow, I wrote that two years ago, already forgot I wrote this comment. I'm still practicing, constantly. I started by myself then have been going to piano course for a year and half. I guess I improved a lot, I hope I will be in a level to be able to play this piece in the upcoming fall.
even Lugansky?
@@gotosgotos7879 Lugansky's better, I had bias opinion about this video, the reason for it is that I listened to this piece for the first time from Kassia, therefore her version seemed best even though I listened to other too.

Imo Rachmaninoff IS the human definition of exaggeration lol. If you get the feeling a pianist is being extra when playing his pieces then it's probably being played correctly XD
