The form is pretty extreme! Love it Chris, thanks for the video. Looks like an amazing watch. I actually like the green version of this but for something more standard, it looks fabulous.
That’s a really nice watch, love both watch bands, specially the rubber strap with dual deployment clasp. I like your idea of taking one watch with other straps, better than taking two or three watches. Thank you for the great video.
It’s a good looking watch. It seems like micros are more quickly adopting quick-adjust clasps. It’s practically a Must Have for me. But I must disagree on the 60 click bezel. 120 click bezels are for GMTs so that it can be evenly situated between indices. 60 click bezels are great for divers. It’s all you need.
No, it is 48-click bezels that are for GMTs. 120 is for dive watches.
@@johnanth 120 is for spec sheet buyers. as JJH says, 60 is all you need. you won't really be timing 30s intervals with a bezel.
Great looking watch. I liked your category choices, and it does seem that Formex is on the rise. This is very tempting… great job on the video, as always! Keep up the good work 👊
Formex makes a clasp with micro-adjustments as well. Is that the same clasp that you showed in this video? You didn't mention 'micro-adjust'.
No this one didn't have it although I'm aware of the one you're talking about
Hey Chris, great review. I'm a big fan of Formex, recently just got an Omega Seamaster 300m, so I'm not currently in the market for another diver right now. The Essence though is near the top of my list. I have a 6.75in wrist and can't decide if the 39" or the 43" Essence is the way to go. What is your wrist size and what would be your recommendation? I live in Toronto Canada but don't think any stores here have them for sale, so can't try it on to make my decision.
I purchased the essence 39, I have a 7 1/2 wrist size and it wears fantastic.perfect size.
@@joseperez3885 thank you Jose. Appreciate the feedback
I like this brand very much. I have thick 7.75 wrists. However, my wrist is more rounded rather than flat. How comfortably do you think it would wear?
I've had my eyes on the Reef for a long time. I really like the design, features, fit and finish, but when I get ready to spend the $$ it never seems win. I picked up an Anordain for 2x and a Ball for nearly 3X and then several micros for less than a grand.
I guess once I get to a thousand bucks, I figure I'll spend a bit more and get a nicer mainstream watch. If I'm spending less, I target sub $600, which are far and fewer these days for me (and has been concentrated on Signum lately..incredible dials and value). The only $1000 watch I nearly pulled the trigger on recently was a Seiko MM200 (green dial)..but then you know Seiko with their alignment and other quality issues, which is why I passed.
I guess Formex is in the watch taint for my budget. I see CW as nearly a peer brand, but again, I'd rather spend $2k on a CW than $1k on a Formex.
I think I need a therapist...Why can't I commit to a Formex?
I understand you (to some extent). I have that feeling with Christoper Ward. I like the C63 Sealander GMT but spending 1115€ for it seems to be spending 2x more but I was really close (not 100% the model I want) to buy a Longines HydroConquest today when it was proposed to me for 1200€.
Prefer the look of the 39 to be honest. I agree its a great omega alternative
Boring as hell.
I like the Reef and it’s definitely on my short list. The Essence looks nice too, but I’m a dive watch fan, so …. Great review. Thank you.
Very Nice diver!!! Case shape reminds me a little of the Alpina Seastrong 300.
I have the same watch with both the quick release bracelet and adjustable rubber strap from Marc at Long Island Watches. There is nothing out there for the price range that comes anywhere close!
Formex makes nice looking watches but their name sucks. Formex sounds like a type of plastic from DuPont or a chemical insecticide from Monsanto. They are made in Biel Switzerland so they should name their company Biel Watch Company. I am superficial enough to not buy that watch just because of the name. Yes, I can be superficial but we buy watches as jewelry don't we.
Biel?
@@davidwarburton8890 Yes, it is pronounced Bee-el, a major watch making center in Switzerland and where Formex is located.
Is a good new, that new brands from Switzerland are born and putting over the table its traditional savoir faire/legacy and at the same time implementing new solutions. This is Formex to me. Thank you!.
Saludos!!
Stunning watch! Another watch that is my wish list. The only thing that bothers me and its a small annoyance. I wish Formex would either put their logo or put the name on the dial because putting both on the dial is unnecessary. Great brand nonetheless.
Great review!
Cheers!
Obviously well made , but not a fan of the case design. The case "protector " is a bit ungainly to my eye . I breaks up what would otherwise be clean lines for really no reason . Just my opinion.
this watch reminds me of Vostok Komandirskie somehow.
Love your videos dude. Always keeping us up to date.
"Swiss made"... you said...🤔🤔🤔
I had a hard time after you showed the “case butt”.
I love the look of this watch kind of reminds me of the Zelos Swordfish. I will pick up the green or blue dial when I can get one at a discount.
The pretty daughter auf Mr. Nautilus…
It’s stunning..I‘m close to purchase ….
Very good job, with this video…👍
Greetings from Hamburg 😉
Not good to start a review seeing only glare on the dial from the room light. Imagine what the sun would do. Must not have AR coating. That's a big NO for me to consider it.
A lot to like with these watches and I keep looking at the Reef. After the logo change I can live with the brand name. I would really like to see something in between the Reef and the Essence. A diver with a more refined design, a bit less tooly look and a tapering bracelet.
wow looks nice
I liked the Essence for its unique suspension system. The Reef doesn't provide anything special or different, it's just another dive watch. Damn hard for me to spend $1000 on a watch made by a concrete installation company. They gotta change that name.
