Great review. Bizarrely yours has the same mileage as mine. Who ever designed this car knew what a luxury was all about as it all makes great sense. Oh and the centre glove box can chill a bottle of champagne in 50 miles. I drove to a friends house and had forgotten to put the bottle in the fridge before hand and I was surprised how effective it was.
Awesome video! very detailed and in depth review. The car is absolutely stunning, and great choice of wheels that makes even more aggressive and sporty!
thank you for the video which of the CL 550/500 /63 IS more reliable in maintenance, I am still thinking of CL 55 2006 with Acur-air suspension , but I then bumped into your video here, great video bru PLEASE share your take on this please
The CL55's (W215) suspension system is notoriously unreliable and goes out early - They made the system less complicated and more efficient in the CL63 (W216) After owning both and putting a lot of miles on them the CL63 has been more reliable.
Thanks for the great feedback everyone! I will have a lot more content coming soon - I am in the process of compiling content for more videos so i can start uploading regularly. I will have more overviews of different cars as well as other automotive content coming soon.
Alen Akopyan Depends on your preferences. Personally I like the headlights and grille on the 2008-2010 CLs. Also I like the naturally aspirated sound better. The 2008-2010 also are less expensive on the market than the 2011-2014. Advantage of the 2011-2014 are the bump in horsepower, no worries about head bolt failures and some newer tech.
I drove both the NA and BiTurbo before buying this car - I personally prefer the BiTurbo's styling, extra power, turbo whistle, exhaust note and better reliability. I recommend driving both and picking what you prefer.
It more comfortable than the s coupe but the value and repair and maintenance would just make it zero sense... I will lose a lot half of resale value since nobody want this thing after 2020... The new one just got face-lift and the interior and media tech is way much better.... If people look for one of these I would suggest to get it after 2020.. since it will be so undervalue so after next one for 2023-2025 i won't lose so much value after than.
I agree - I actually had an S63 coupe when they first came out. I owned it before i had the CL63 along with my CL55. I prefer the CL63 in just about every way - The S coupe had newer infotainment and tech as well as some areas of the interior which were better but overall the CL feels more special.
Thanks a lot Fred! I am going to post more content soon i'm just building a little back log before i start posting so i can post more often as i just do this as a hobby.
Brother you seriously detailed this ride perfectly. Just know that I’ve already watched this video about 20 times and I’m sure I’ll watch it much more. Question What brand wheel did you go with and if you remember what are the tire size dimensions. Thank you.
It more comfortable than the s coupe but the value and repair and maintenance would just make it zero sense... I will lose a lot half of resale value since nobody want this thing after 2020...
Yes, i drove the NA 6.2 CL63 and the CL65 as well as this car. After driving all of those i chose the BiTurbo CL63. All-around it was just a better car in my opinion. The exhaust sounds better, it's more powerful and the turbos add a unique sound to the car. The styling is a bit more aggressive and fits the car better and the overall package just feels more polished. The comfort level was the same with a slight advantage in comfort going to the CL65 due to it's less aggressive nature.
Hi my Friend i have the same car i have question if i m in the manuell Mode is this modus Sport too? Or going to s Mode and shift with padels like d1 d2 d3 ? Thank you
So when your in M you have full manual control, when you're in D and hit one of the paddles it will let you manually shift but go back into auto after not using the paddles for a bit or getting close to the redline
I had a 03' W215 CL55 and had to replace the ABC pump and two main lines for the suspension a around 58K miles. On the W216 CL63 Mercedes made the ABC system much less complex and more reliable so I'm guessing it will last at least 100K miles whiteout issue if the car is properly maintained.
Thanks - They are Savini BM12's. I originally wanted HRE or Brixton as I've had them on some of my other cars but heard good things about the Savinis and they were a quarter of the price plus the styling was slightly better imo. I also knew that i'd inevitably bend/crack the wheels every once in a while with the crappy roads around LA so i didn't want to spend $7-10K every year on a replacements.
how is the servicing of this? In the market for the very same car and as expected, hesitant about the service issues. Whats your experience been so far?
I've had the car for just over two years and put around 34K miles on it - Overall it has been great. The biggest ongoing expense to prepare for is the brake rotors. They actually last a while but are a bit pricey when they need replacing. Other than that normal services (about twice a year) are usually between $500 and $900. If the car ever does need work done though, unless it's under warranty, i don't recommend taking it to the dealer as they will gouge you as soon as they see the car since, other than the CL65, this was their top of the line car when it came out. I do recommend getting an extended warranty just in case, you can always bundle it into your loan if you finance the car.
Thanks! I know, i was shooting with a DSLR tha wasn't really meant for video, all of my other videos (which are coming soon) will be using a new camera setup.
I'm not entirely sure but based on what i could find it was a bit over 3,000 units for the 11-14 model years and even fewer with the performance package and even fewer with the Designo options
It has bluetooth for phone but in order to get audio for music, etc. you need to either use an AUX cable or you can buy a $40 bluetooth puck that plugs into the multi-connector in the glovebox which is what i had in this car.
This is a lovely car and if it weren't for the maintenance cost, I would get one. The tech seems pretty amazing. But please keep in mind all of that is available in any Benz these days. I drive a 2016 C45 and it has all of the same tech features except for the night vision.
Yep, that's usually how Mercedes does things. They add technology into the high-end cars and trickle down into the rest of the models over the generations. Now a days though the A class received the highest end entertainment system before the other models and the tech is trickling up.
Missing options: Fridge, Headlight Washers, Ventilated Brake Discs, Pre-Heat Interior Button on Climate Buttons, SPLITVIEW (I think you do have it), TV Tuner, Designo interior, Upgraded audio system (with speaker on the roof lining),
Actually the car has all of these features sans the fridge which I'm glad it does not have as it looks out of place and gives you an extra storage area without it - Some of the items you listed weren't an option on the CL but the S63 Coupe which I also owned - Designo had multiple interior options, the only one this does not have is the extended designo nappa on the dash which only came on the Designo branded cars but this has the Designo paint, Headliner, steering wheel and carbon fiber - The only thing I wish it did have was the extended Nappa but you couldn't option that without the Design branding and color combos which I don't like but I may have it added at some point as I don't plan on selling this car
@@thedailycruise2930 Firstly, i agree you deff should keep it, i think its one of the best looking and luxurios Mercedes out there...Id prefer the 65 cause its just rare and love the diamond stitch. Want to ask, how well does the nightview assist work with animals (on this version of it) 1. The pre heater (icon is a fan with three arrows pointing up, so you can pre heat the car before hand), option came in certain teritories, replaces the REST button.. but its super super rare... only seen it once - im a merc mechanic 2. as with the upgraded speaker system (ul notice it by the speaker just behind the sunroof) 3. i noticed iv never seen an american version of the CL with the headlight washers, much more common in car here (South Africa), 4. Again the South African version had extended leather on all AMG cars dash, the 65 had leather headliner standard 5. I think the fridge is the coolest option but to each and their own. Never understood why different countries had different options as standard or on offer
this car is a masterpiece, actually, this is the car that I'm thinking to buy next. I'm looking to buy in a silver colour and paint in black all the chrome and then put some nice 21" wheels from a G wagon
Currently: Rear - Pilot Sport 4S 295/25/22 Front - Pilot Sport 4S 255/30/22 but I'm going down to 21" wheels soon to add more sidewall but keep the overall radius of the tires the same
When something goes wrong it's usually expensive even compared to newer cars of the same class - If the car is well maintained though it's pretty reliable.
Yes. I actually drove both before deciding on this car. The 65 has more pull on the high-end but is slower to 60, doesn't sound as good and has an older transmission.
The facelift W216 CL63 are relatively reliable if taken care of properly - They don't have the ABC issues of the W215 or the headbolt issues from the N/A W216. It all depends on how the previous owners cared for the car. I've got around 70K miles on it and the only non-expendables I've really had to replace were the starter and alternator.
I recently hit over 113K miles on mine and it's been very reliable considering what it is - Most expensive things that were replaced were turbo lines, radiator and oil pump
Yep and I'm glad that the driver's assist package wasn't optioned. I don't like the grille star with the plastic cover for the radar system. Only part of the assist package I wish it had was the blind spot markers in the mirrors.
The legendary and last of the greats its replacement might have been more high tech but it was shorter uglier trying too hard and didn't have the timeless lines this had this car will still look good in 20 years' time because of the design principles
I had the S63 Coupe when it came out and it was a phenomenal car but this generation CL63 was just better in almost every way other than some more advanced tech - I kept the CL and sold the S63 Coupe after 8-9 months so that should say something
pre facelift in my opinion will be legend more than this version. this is just too agresive for its look, that doesnt fit the class. old one was agresvie but in stylish way.
The pre-facelift wasn't my cup o' tea especially since i already owned the CL55 which i thought was too subdued, i also wasn't a huge fan of the NA 6.2 other than in the SLS.
Yes they are. The rotors on these cars aren't cross-drilled, they are ballseat drilled so once you wear down around 30% you don't see the ballseat drill marks anymore and they just look flat.
watching this video in 2024 and still dreaming about this CAR!

My dream - CL63/C63 W 204/CLS63.. Maybe next year ⭐🙋 Greetings from Poland 🤝
I would LOVE to drive one of those. I sat in one at Mercedes Benz World a few years back now. Beautiful.

i love this car
So dope! It was even (63) Degrees while filming
😆 i actually didn't even notice that until you pointed it out.
I like this car sooooooooo much.
Awesome video
Thank you!
Beautiful ‘ AMG
Great video! I have a 2008 CL63. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you on this car.
I want to buy one, would you guys reccommend the 2008 engine models or the twin turbo ones that I believe started from 2011 to 2014.
Alen Akopyan Depends on your preferences. Personally I like the headlights and grille on the 2008-2010 CLs. Also I like the naturally aspirated sound better. No more videos on the CL? I have an '09 I've had sine 2013. All stock except for forged AMG wheels off the S Coupe brethren.
I sold the car to a friend a little over a year ago but I'm buying it back in the next few months.
Great job!!!!!!
Great informative overview. It was a pleasure to watch. Looks better than the new S coupe.

@@thedailycruise2930thank you for the reply. Last question what tire dimensions are the front/rear
im seriously considering getting one of these soon.
You won't regret it.
Those rims look good but not enough sidewall on those tires!

Getting this car, thanks for the infoo

dream car
Stunning car, would look better on stock wheels though
You drove the Na older cl63 aswell, so which one was more comfortable to drive? Also have you driven the cl65 also? How did it compare?

When something goes wrong it's usually expensive even compared to newer cars of the same class - If the car is well maintained though it's pretty reliable.
Where have you bought seat belt covers?
I actually bought those on eBay for like $50 per pair - They have actually been very good for how inexpensive they are.

Great car but maybe filming next to the new neighborhood development wasn’t the best spot
I had limited time as I just did the video for fun and it was the only spot I knew of with space but yeah the new construction was annoying
Does anybody have experience with reliability of this car? (amg s of that generation with some Miles on it)
The facelift W216 CL63 are relatively reliable if taken care of properly - They don't have the ABC issues of the W215 or the headbolt issues from the N/A W216. It all depends on how the previous owners cared for the car. I've got around 70K miles on it and the only non-expendables I've really had to replace were the starter and alternator.
How reliable is ? I want to buy one with 23.000€ and it have 170.000km...what should i expect...the worst
I recently hit over 113K miles on mine and it's been very reliable considering what it is - Most expensive things that were replaced were turbo lines, radiator and oil pump
Flex in the paint.lol
$20k options on a $150k base CL is actually not that much. The owner basically left out all the assistances, and these can pile up quickly.
Yep and I'm glad that the driver's assist package wasn't optioned. I don't like the grille star with the plastic cover for the radar system. Only part of the assist package I wish it had was the blind spot markers in the mirrors.

Diana Adrianna no denial about styling, CL is beating everything in its class. After all, i say it all comes about our opinion and taste :)
The pre-facelift wasn't my cup o' tea especially since i already owned the CL55 which i thought was too subdued, i also wasn't a huge fan of the NA 6.2 other than in the SLS.
“ I see many flat tires 🛞 “
No driver aid so not fully equipped. Pretty important and expensive package
Yeah, but it adds that cheap looking plastic front grill star cover for the radar which I don't like - Wish it had the blind spot assist though...
it will go 200mph
Yep. If it's completely delimited AMG says it's theoretically capable of around 217mph
Great review but your autofocus on the camera is so annoying.
this car needs light interior
This ain‘t the Original Rotors👀
Yes they are. The rotors on these cars aren't cross-drilled, they are ballseat drilled so once you wear down around 30% you don't see the ballseat drill marks anymore and they just look flat.
Nice car, great review, horrid and too big wheels!!
You literally picked the ugliest rims possible? You turned a very beautiful car into a spikmobile. 👏
Based on your videos, comments and the fact that you make brass and turquoise rings I will take that as an absolute compliment - Thank you kind sir
