Having tried this kit twice now it is very nice, the only thing I don't like seems to be the high hat! I don't know why, it just doesn't feel right! Although, the one on the TD 9 is alright! I quite like it!
@elHellzebob Look into the Roland TD20 and Pintech heads if you want something smaller and less expensive. I have been using Roland and Pintech for years now and it works great.
considering the features on the TD20 brain, I don't think the price is too steep, though I have never had the chance to try the feel of the heads so I can't say if it would be a proper replacement for an acoustic set, but I wouldn't mind an option to get the TD20 brain with a smaller kit, since I use a small three head two cymbal set
I saw this guy playing for countyline (southern rockers) he was damn good, have a look at myspace/countylineuk he is on the video there or type in on youtube 'send my baby home'.
@7000Drummerboy7000 All Roland heads and cymbals are interchangeable. The TD20 is really just the brain. So, if you wanted to know if the kit that this TD20 is hooked up with would work with a TD12 brain, then your answer is yes. Just plug the heads in. But good luck buying each kit piece separately.
can you hit it the same manner/ or as hard as the standard drum kit? i saw one here at tom lee but the snare seems like a fabric.. great soundcheck and playing by the way:D
he said can i put the module on a td6 kit... you could but your pads and cymbals and HH wouldnt be the same... i dunno if theres a card for the td6 but dat would be better
@uncleben03 Don't waste your time or money. I got a TD4s with all mesh heads and bought a midi interface controller to attach it to my laptop, with BFD2 drums, I get tons of kits and configurability for a total of $1,800.
@steffiX003 so you think 5,500 is too much for a td20? it's cuz you don't live in Brazil... here, it costs 23,000 reais (more than 10,000 us dollars). With 5,500 dollars here, maybe you can buy a Td-12... maybe! =/
Does the tdw 20 work for Td 12? because i really want new sounds on my td 12 and to make it sound more realistic. but it seems like its only for td 20. THAT SUCKS THEN!.. :(
Compare the expressiveness off 2box Drumit 5: watch?v=YpjZWujoTDY&feature=related With Roland TD-20 snaredrum Expressiveness: watch?v=ORY_Uf1kU0E&feature=related It speaks for itself.... 2box rules . Which isnt strange, 2BOX DRUMIT 5 is from the guy who invented the e-Drum pioneering DDRUM (2, 3 and 4) The LATEST version of ddrum, ddrum 4 was releast TEN years ago, listen to them here... watch?v=TwoMMMhxOA4&feature=related Already then they were better than Roland....

It's great for studio work but I wouldn't play live since it's a smaller version of the TD20
Is there melodius on there?

I'd say that the brain is the best thing about the TD-20k. But I do know that it is possible.

5 grand for this one 7 grand for the new kx version. go take out a loan :D
Well you dont have to be rich to have it I saved up for 2 years to get a td 12 :D
Wow, not worth $4k.. listen to how digital that drum roll still sounds
They're much cheaper than a "soundproof" room and microphones, preamps, etc. Knockin the dust off mine, hope you're doing well.
