I have seen characters like insha in real life too. There's a friend of mine whose father used to beat her mother up while her mother was pregnant because he didn't want it to be a girl. Her father left her even before she was born. And after her birth, her mother took khula. She's never seen her father in her entire life. She doesn't know who her father is. And she's just as strong and as mature as insha. Very headstrong. And because this friend of mine is very close to me, so I can relate to insha on a personal level and understand her complexities very well.

In Reaqeeb se, "mein tumhari izzat nahin karti ab", is the dialogue of the history of the drama industry in the subcontinent. This single sentence has the power to change the culture and tradition of the society we are living in. This conversation needs to be written in golden words. This drama should be part of the mandatory syllabus in any drama school in south Asia. Hats off to the writer, director, the whole cast and crew of this masterpiece. Standing ovation from every thinking parent of girl child for only this above-mentioned dialogue....

I've been binging Wahaj's dramas since ishq jalebi ended and I think he is a super duper romantic hero. He romances the heroine soooo effortlessly. Mah e tamam was such a pleasant surprise. His character, the story...his chemistry with ramsha. You guys have to check it out

    • @mehreenmisbah9556
      @mehreenmisbah9556 3 года назад +17

Hai na?!?! The chemistry between Ramsha and Wahaj is such a treat to watch, both in Mah e Tamaam and Ghisi Piti Mohabbat....Mah e Tamaam's Taqi was not an easy character to play and Wahaj nailed it with absolute perfection....his comic timing was outstanding. And then his scenes with Ramsha......ufff ufff ufff........people are raving about Wahaj and Madiha's couple.....I love them too but the thing is Ishq Jalebi was a tailormade romance with amazing scenes written for the lead couple....the jealousy, the passion, the bachpan-ka-taluq, the intimacy was given a lot of coverage so naturally they got a lot of scope and henceforth their chemistry emerged out like that.......on the other hand, Mah e Tamaam did not have that strong of a romantic flavor as Ishq Jalebi.....YET Ramsha and Wahaj's chemistry was ON FIRE in the meagre scope of romance they were given (case in point: Taqi expresses his love for Shifa in the last episode and before that he was going gaga for Mehek......on the other hand, Basim never felt anything romantic for any other girl and once he realized his love for Bela, his passion was unstoppable....that jealousy, those emotions were given a lot of coverage...so naturally Madiha and Wahaj emerged out as that perfect romantic couple but I am more than certain that if Ramsha and Wahaj are given a proper romantic story, they are going to SIZZLE.......much more than they have with any other hero or heroine......). Check them out in Nida Yasir's show together (where they came to promote Ghisi Piti Mohabbat) and the comfort they have between them is so adorable.....that ease translates so beautifully on screen.....i SO wish that they come together in many more super duper romantic projects.......

Raqeeb Se is winding up so beautifully. The stories, delicately interwoven, are now reaching their conclusion. Sakina had to come back to Maqsood Saab for everyone to get closure. For the couple to see how they felt about each other 20 years later. For Maqsood Saab to deal with his bitterness and to realise how he felt about Hajra. For Hajra to deal with her own past and her real feelings towards Sakina. For Ameera to re-live her mother’s love story and to get it out of her system. For Insha, to mend her relationship with Maqsood Saab by making mistakes of her own. For Rafiq Ali to realise what Sakina means to him. For Sakina to go through the journey of self-discovery.The suicide scene was impactful. Hats off to the director for directing it the way he did - without showing how Ameera did it, without the melodrama; just the background music and the performances in slow motion. Only Kashif Nisar could have directed it that way. Beegul did not make the suicide a highlight but gave it just the right amount of attention. The scene with Maqsood Saab and Ameera was beautiful as were the ones with Hajra and Sakina. Only Maqsood Saab could have helped Ameera get over her obsession with him and he did so without making a fuss about it. Alas! Maqsood Saab and Sakina’s love story was not as lovely as we’d thought. To be fair to them, Maqsood Saab and Sakina kept re-iterating that people change, circumstances change and so do feelings, but we didn’t listen to them. We were on a journey of our own, reliving their past with them, hoping that their love for each other was still alive. Just as quietly as Sakina and Ameera re-entered Maqsood Saab’s life, they look to go their separate ways just as silently. This has to be one of the best episodes of the play. Every scene was beautifully written, directed and acted. Not a single false note. Not a dry eye. What a masterpiece!

And one thing too, there is NO NO comparison between ishq jalebi and chupke chupke, viewers should understand this, they are both different genres, written in different style, one has subtle comedy and one has deliberate comedy and everyone has a different taste, people watch what they like and cam digest , so stop comparing. Watching Raqeeb se this week, I was reminded of what Bee Gul said - that this story is about these four women and their journey to self empowerment. I couldn't see how that will play out until now, especially with Ameera. Each character arc so different yet together their story is pure symphony. In the end Maqsood Saab's character and the complicated relationship each one shared with him simply served as a catalyst for them to realise their true self-worth. I am in awe of Bee Gul's writing. And the supporting background music is like the chef's 😘!

I also noticed when Ameera saw a blurry image of knife. Then the way everyone was running to rescue her. Rafiq Ali delivered intense dialogues without looking at Sakeena and the way she was looking at him crying. Each n every detailing is amazing to watch. Yes, I agree with hassan about the timeline, even I was thinking of the same thing.
Also 20 years pehle agar mansoor Ahmed ka qatal hua tha tou, jail k baad tou 20 saal se bhi kam ka waqt hua.
Also, to clarify regarding whether the term '20 saal' is used loosely, it's not. The scene in which Insha reads from Maqsood Sahabs diary to Ameerah, it's dated as a 2009 entry, and says something like, "aaj 9 saal hogayay sakeena ko dekhay huay," so assuming that the story is set in 2020-2021, it has been 20-21 years max.
Also Maqsood Sahab was deeply flawed, and I admired that Insha didn't get intimidated after learning the truth, instead called Maqsood Sahab out for neglecting hajra so much. With that being said, Maqsood Sahab is a flawed character ofc, but nevertheless a great one!

    • @guljanasyed

From the very first scene of Raqeeb Se, we along with Hajra, Sakina, Insha and Ameera thought that Maqsood Sahib was the savior and the hero. It took us the journey along with these four ladies to see that Maqsood Sahib was not so. He was only human just like the ladies with both strengths and weaknesses. The four ladies eventually found strength in each other. They had never really needed this man. A man who didn’t find the strength and courage to love his wife and her daughter, man who didn’t have the faith to lead a joyous life, a man who was just as insecure as Hajra and Sakina!

One thing I would like to highlight in DNUTN (and somewhat compare it to raqse bismil) : DNUTN shows yumna as a strong character since she's faced tough times. She knows how to defend herself against predators because halaat aur uske profession ne usko aisa banadia. Aur yehi sachai Hai.
On the other hand, we see zohra, who also apparently has the same profession and comes from a somewhat similar background, but she has no common sense, needed Musa to save her from that perv (forgetting his name), and is definitely not clever enough to survive on her own.

So its not only her Halaat which made her steomg it is also her father who told her she was a special girl. And that is the main thing that gives her motivation

Ishq Jalebi: has set new standards of rom-com. Brilliant performance, what a great finale - tied all knots pretty well (Basim trusting his father for his case, bela's confession, property distribution, basim being sorry about his rude behavior, vicky and esha not being sticky third angles). The show also highlighted many mind blowing realities of our society - consent, teaching women to be confident n courageous, elders making wrong decisions at times, damage n insecurities by being unappreciated, living abroad, covid etc. The writer moved whole story in a full circle. Characters were flawed individuals but relatable with subtle comedy. Love it! I ll recommend more people to watch it.
    P. S: Aamna ur point of English accent -I think that's ok bcz otherwise audience might struggle to understand it. It uses Punjabi already which some of us already don't understand completely but enjoy n laugh on as its a fun language, has great variety of words.

Saniya Shaukat even though I assent that the loose ends were tied quite smartly in the end by the writer but still I would love to have a season 2 where there should be character evolutions, especially of Basim and Bela. Basim, despite what went wrong with him and the injustices he faced, had no right to take Bela for granted. Yes I have been screaming from the rooftops from day one about how my heart goes out to Basim but still that does not give him the right to jeopardize Bela's reputation. So now when Bela is his wife, I would love to see his character evolving and him cherishing Bela like a priceless treasure unlike the past....also how receiving unconditional love from Bela kind of tones down his anger to an extent (agar completely soft-spoken hojaega tou unbelievable lagega).....
As for Bela, I would love to see her becoming stronger after marriage. After receiving Basim's endless support and love that she has always yearned for, I want her to take stands for Basim whenever and whoever treats him wrong. Yes the audience would like to believe that bauji compensated for his injustices when he gave the Saddar branch to Basim and got him married to Bela but I still can't digest how he was so loving to Bela, Vicky and Esha and so mean to Basim. So after their marriage whenever bauji is unfair to Basim, I would love to see Bela taking a stand for her husband, not just in front of bauji but also in front of his parents and others. Also I want her to play a role in making Basim's parents realize that how they were unfair to him especially Basim's mother. Don't get me wrong. I am a huge Hina Bayat fan but the character of Iffat was such a disappointment for me. The only time she was shown to be a caring mother for Basim was when he was sick in the second last episode. Or else she had reserved that love, care and pampering for Bela while for Basim, she had reserved lectures. All through the 33 episodes, how many times did you see Iffat being a loving and caring mother to Basim? At least his father fought for him whenever he could in front of bauji but his mother had shades of Bela-the-bheegi-billi. Also I would love to see Bela managing her own business and Basim helping her in it and takes her out of her naive shell and with his love and care, toughens her up to face the world on her own (career wise of course).
Also I would like to see Vicky messing up in the business (not out of some evil feelings but simply because he had expressed in the past episodes that business is not his cup of tea as he is more into computer engineering or something like that) and realizing that even though it was a good thing for him to stay back but to change his career path just to please bauji was a wrong decision. Being the level-headed and mature individual that Vicky is, it would be awesome if he admits his lack of skills in handling the business and hands over the business to Basim.
Last but by no means the least, I would like to see bauji admitting his mistakes of treating sons better than daughters. Being an elder does NOT discount this grave mistake of his. This mindset of his did a lot of damage and i would love to see him making amends and also admitting. Because the normalizing of elders' mistakes is not healthy at all.
All in all, there SHOULD be an Ishq Jalebi Season 2. Yes we need more cute lovey dovey scenes between Basim and Bela but more than that we need what I mentioned above.

    • @saniyashaukat9486
      @saniyashaukat9486 3 года назад +2

@@mehreenmisbah9556 heyy, thank you for ur comment. I love how you are as invested in this show as much as I am. Yes, I agree that loose ends have been tied pretty well overall (from Bela selling her deceased mother's bangles to Basim selling his Cinderella to get those back and many more) there is so much more that can be done in S2. I am in all favor of its S2 to learn grow and understand human evolution in better ways as S1 gave us. Though these lessons can be learnt via other stories but We are already connected with these characters and hooked with Belsim (but we also have risk that story characters might go in wrong direction so I want writer to take time and write it)
Defo, like ur idea about characters evolution in s2. I think Basim has grown pretty well in this Season. The damage basim has got by being unappreciated is still left. He wanted to settle abroad to be praised for his hardwork and get his recognition. Though Bela will provide that, he needs it from fam too. He used to be angry as a result of that frustration. But with Bela's unconditional love, it can be reduced to a great extent. As far as jeopardizing Bela's reputation is concerned, I think he had enough punishment for it. Everyone knows the truth, he was citized about it severly, Bela stopped talking to him in those episodes, and Bela couldn't trust him regardless of his confession initially and used to say, "tuhme tu bahi jana hai, tuhmare khuwaab pure ho rae". He used to stand for her respect even at Esha's gift time, Bela calling off engagement, and when Vicky was sort of inquiring Bela when BBC phupho started telling about Belsim. (Moreover I think Basim told about his feelings to his dad, and didn't give much detail about Bela's emotions. The video revealed that).
Bela becoming stronger individual, courageous and confident entrepreneur should be focus of S2. Bela needs to learn to voice out n speak up for her wishes, desires, love etc. Yes, she should now speak and defend her spouse of any thing wrong is said about him. Even when Bauji asked Baso to leave n Bauji was wrong, she didn't say anything. So I don't want that in s2. She believes she gets love as a result of being obedient n respectful. She needs to know Bauji won't love her any less if she'd speak for anything. Bela running business successfully will be a treat to watch. Basim is street smart. He has learnt business tactics over years and can helo Bela. He already in S1 guided her to overcome her weaknesses to run business when car got snatched n last epi scene.
Bauji treatment to Baism is not bcz he loves him less but bcz he enjoys annoying him as Baso gets tempered (my brother also used to do this with ny sis). Elders need to understand that it might be fun for you, but it damages others' in various ways. It should be done sometimes only, and love should also be expressed verbally not only emotionally. I wish the hospital Vicky Bauji conversation had happened witj Baism n Bauji. They needed a heart to heart Convo. Or Basim should have heard getting Saddar branch and yhere could have been exchange of some dialouges bw them to express their love to each other. However we need to appreciate Baism's trust over his relation with Bauji regardless of all this unintentional biased treatment that he was continuously convincing Bela to go to Bauji to settle their love issue. Bauji also needs to realize his wrong decisions. Such as getting Bela engaged to Hasan. That aspect wasn't shown in S1 much. So some highlight about it wil be imp along with realizing how daughters should be respected n loved similar as sons. He also needs to show gratitude towards his daughter Iffat just as he had to ashiq hussain.
Yes, Iffat Ashiq Hussain showed women of oir society how think that men are emotionally strong n tantrums etc don't affect their sons. She has given love to Bela more as she has been concerned about her not being loved enough after her sister's death but it has had affects on Basim. Having that character arc will be great.
I think Esha is more mature than Vicky in several ways. I like how she didn't stick to Basim and called off the relation by knowing his interest into someone else. She senses if Anyone is emotionally down. She's strong n need attention. I think Ghulfam and her story should be used to show how to bend a little and get along in a relationship with different personalities.
Ohh, I don't like Vicky's character n didn't think much about him. But your point abt his character development is really good. I dislike him for having sense of ownership of Bauji's business n property without even working one day onto it, just bcz of inheritance :/ he needs to learn emotional intelligence n sense if people are happy with him or not. He doesn't wait for anyone to express their feelings and assumes what he has planned is perfect. Your idea about Vicky's realization n understanding how his skill is not suitable for business will actually be great.
Apart from these individuals characters development, I also want to see Belsim post marriage portion. Them helping eo to overcome their insecurities like ZGH did (apart from one part all was pretty good) Resolving their post marriage conflicts n differences sensibly. There are less dramas on such subject n if they try, they bring abuse, divorce etc in it. I don't want Belsim to loose their trust, friendship and comfort from one another yet there will be differences as two people start living together. So sensible dealing of that can actually serve S2 well.

Am sure all the new dramas mentioned here are nice but am only going to write about the episodes of Raqeeb se this week .....what a power packed performance by all of them ..... I cried with Sakina and Hajra as they unraveled Sakinas moment of truth ..... her introspection .... so beautifully penned by Bee Gul ♥️ The women came out much stronger in these two episodes , giving strength to each other and the Men exposed their weak , fickle sides be it Maqsood Saab, Rafiq Ali or Abdullah. Rafiq Ali’s dialogues so beautifully exposed how incomplete these men are without the women in their lives contrary to what society says and believes ..... beauuuutiful♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Raqeeb Se was a treat to watch.. I've no words to describe how much I'm in love with this❤️ I cried with them, I'll miss it when it goes off air and will watch it again definitely ❤️❤️❤️❤️.... Now, Amna's right k Insaan ka Insaan hona flaw nahi hai.... Lekin Hassan is pointing out on drama point of view... Then, Amna time period of 20 years will include the 2 years of Maqsood sahab's jail time + 2 years after marrying Hajra when he didn't meet his brother.... So Hassan is right 👍
Ishq Jalebi is my favourite drama now, a complete package of all the emotions with good messages❤️❤️ and would love to watch the sequel 😉

Madiha Imam did a telefilm with Hina Dilpazeer and Marina Khan named Chale Aye. She did not cry in that one at all and it was really good. She was a career women and the story was pretty different and refreshing.

I binge watched chupke chupke and ishq jalebi after Ramadan. Really enjoyed chupke chupke but ishq jalebi was definitely better! It reminded me of the old classics like tanhaiyan. Simply beautiful!

Another fab review episode by you guys - loved the banter at the start... way too many drama's on... & after the light-hearted fun of Chupke Chupke & Ishq Jalebi, I don't have the heart to get into rona-dhona drama's... but will finish watching DNUTN and Raqeeb Se and some of the others - then might just re-watch the fun ones ;)

After watching the teasers of new dramas, I've felt that the quality of these new dramas doesn't match the ones they are replacing. tbh, none of the teasers impressed me that much that I feel like watching it regularly. As yet, I've only decided to watch Neeli Zinda Hai because I love Sonia Mishal while Urwa's looks are interesting too. Other than that I'll just watch your reviews and if you suggest any then perhaps I'll change my mind. Right now, I'm hooked on DNUTN, Pehli Si Mohabbat, Phaans, and Raqeeb Se's ending. Stopped watching Qayamat and Fitoor. Watching KAM in bits and pieces just for the grand wedding.
