80 hours a week as a nurse in this pandemic isn't unusual. Getting 8 hours of sleep is. Took a look at my sleep tracker: averages 4 hours and 20 minutes of sleep per night. And when you're tired, you can't be bothered cooking or mealprepping. Time to break the cycle. Goodnight.
I’m a health care worker and I’ve just newly started working out more seriously as I am prediabetic from eating fast food and not having time to Cook so now even though I can’t cook meals because of time I’ve decided I’ll just make simple pack lunches like 2-3 sandwiches, wraps and stuff or something simple to take to work so I don’t have to cook for bare hours. I don’t like meal prepping unless it’s food that can be eaten cold idk why just my taste buds don’t like overnight food.
Thank you for posting this. Very useful info, covers many things you don't typically think about when working long hours. Food, sleep, environment....these are the basics but are commonly overlooked. Thanks for sharing.
I started a business and am now realizing it’s costing me more money than it’s bringing in. It also costs me time that I could be making money in other ways.
This is such an awesome video. Definitely needed a video like this two years ago when I was working overtime to save for my wedding. This is even more relevant since this year I’m pushing for that RUclipsr life instead of that overtime at my full-time job. Great work Matt! Thank you!
You advocating working 80 hours a week is dangerous and unadvisable. That’s like me making a video saying, you can drink as much alcohol as you want and never get cirrhosis of the liver, if you sip your whiskey instead of gulping it down.
It's a bit like saying you can drink alcohol, in moderation, as long as you drink plenty of water, stay hydrated and also have a balanced diet if you're trying to compare points in the video about sleep, mindset and work/life balance.
How many hours do you work in a week? My main week consists of the 9-5, property deal analysis, freelance work and then of course my favourite - RUclips! PS - SUBSCRIBE ► go.mattbrighton.co.uk/subscribe
Humans evolved to be their best when they have not had food and they are hungry. When humans were hunter gatherers and they had not had food for a day or more, they became better, more focussed and productive hunters because they had to get food to survive. Being well fed made them lazy.
Not everything you eat is converted to glucose. Fats and Protein for instance usually are not. Also intermediate fasting or skipping breakfast is not necessarily unhealthy. Also you didnt include exercise in your video.
Great video, +1 I can't wait to get a standing desk (right now I don't even have a desk lol, I edit on the sofa or on the floor haha). Don't know how you do it all but it's so good that you enjoy it, thats the main thing :)
I think the main thing is that it's enjoyable and doesn't feel like work work, I end up finding myself excited to finish the 9-5 to get onto my own projects :D I look gofrward
Hey! Thanks for the video. Could you offer more details about how you manage your productivity and focus time throughout the day/week? Do you work on weekends?
I do procrastinate a lot and allow it to happen. If I’m doing anything on the weekend it’s usually on a passion project or hobby so feels more like ‘doing something’ rather than ‘working’ as such
Working 80 hours per week is terrible for you. I know, because I did it for 4 years, with Christmas and Thanksgiving off (yes, 7 days a week). It ruins your memory from lack of sleep, and your body from increased physical stresses. It's okay if you need to do it for a month, but I highly recommend limiting work to 60 hours per week or less. And try to organize your schedule so that you have a whole day off every week.
I've enjoyed / got along well with it so far. With plenty of sleep each night and lots of downtime, walks etc it feels very healthy at the moment. Still have time to do my hobbies which is great and get 9 hours sleep,
I'm working 80 hours a week and can still get 8 hours of sleep each night. It's all about working the schedule and understanding you won't have time for hobbies or really anything outside of work. There's 168 hours in a week and I sleep for 56 of them 1 hour to get to bed and 7 asleep then there is 80 hours working with 6 hours for commute and 10 hours for bathroom and showers. It takes me already another 10 hours to cook for the week and I'll use the rest of my hours reading or learning or hanging out with my dad since he's the only family member I spend my time with. It's very much possible. 6am-9pm then sleep 9pm-6am.
@@WaqarDepp You can make it work! It just depends on commute time and how many days you want to spend working. I now do 13 hours and try and have one day off. Create a base template of 168 hours and keep removing hours as you create a schedule.
I was with him until he got to talking about how skipping breakfast is a mistake and how are you go for hours without feeding your brain, do you think as complex as the brain is that it would not have a system in place to ensure that it got nutrients no matter if you ate for days at a time,? If that were the case every time our ancestors were hungry because they hadn't eaten according to this guy we wouldn't have been able to think and search for food and then they would have died. I think they really need to debunk this myth scientifically because it just doesn't make any sense for long-term evolution of the human species
Idk I just enjoy my 32h European work week, I have time to have fun, participate in culture, take care of my plants, see my friends and cook all I want

Ouch! Yep definitely an area to optimise and get in a few more hours of sleep! Intrigued to see how it makes a difference for you!

Thats it! I enjoy working and for the most part (RUclips) it's pretty creative work so a good creative output from a true busy working week
Great stuff dude! Love the mention about power hours!
Wish I had footage to pop into the video but didn't have any to hand! Almost at the big 1k by the way! It'll happen so fast! Congrats
I’m working 70 hours a week so I get out of debt my business caused
How is it going now brother?

Had a quieter week this week, so it's also just knowing when to take your foot off the gas!
11.6 hrs of work everyday 9 (7days) , or 16 hrs. for 5 days. Then 8 hours min. of sleep. 😵
Thanks for checking out my videos brother! Just dropping by to show some love and subscribe, i'll be watching :)
80 hours a week! you people need to get a life.

ive never heard anyone be a bigger puss than when i read this comment. "dangerous and unadvisable" No, this isn't like drinking alcohol. Dumbass
Flow state has nothing to do with enjoying it.
🗿 let's go
Yea its easy sitting at a desk. Try physical labor. You dont have a flex here.
faake+gaye...
Who is this guy kidding? He looks exhausted. Just look at the bags under his eyes. Working 80 hours a week is not healthy.

Great video Matt 👍🏻 I would love to get that much sleep. We get around 5 hours broken sleep max with 2 kids under 3 🙄
Thanks Glen! Give it a few years and you might enjoy a full night's sleep again!
As a Dr in the NHS, 80 hour weeks isn't unusual
I'm not surprised - all hours of the day & night as well!

On my way to work 52-56 hours a week

Underrated Content...
Sleep is always underestimated. If you are tired, stress is also harder to deal with.
i would rather be working than not have no work at all.
