Bland is the only part that ever bothers me with Xiao... his character story and friendship information give him plenty of justification for being the way he is. It also tells about how he's literally going through eons of pain for everything he's done, does, and will only rack up more pain in the future. And all of this after being forced to be an evil god's hitman/dream-eater
i only called him bland because he is a man of few words, his story is amazing

That's essentially it.
It's an English dub only thing (but honestly I kind of appreciate that a bit more unlike most people because contrary to popular belief it actually would still make some sense for someone who has gone through _THAT_ much trauma to act like this just because trauma can turn you bitter like that. Yeah, that might not be the intended direction for his character but it still makes sense)
Essentially (English) Xiao is really a softy (a good amount of his voice lines show this and let's just say his teapot lines are _FREAKING ADORABLE_ ) but he's gone through so much pain and suffering and knows that wherever he goes he tends to bring destruction and bad luck with him due to his Karmic Debt. He doesn't want to hurt anyone so he tries to keep his distance so as to protect them from himself and the dangers that he brings simply by existing. He can and _HAS_ killed people on accident just because they've gotten too close to him and he _REALLY_ doesn't want that so he does everything he can to turn them away. Not because he doesn't like people (one could argue that he does like people it's just that he knows mortals are too fragile hence why he tries so hard to keep his distance but he's shown on several occasions that he's actually very kind and caring towards humans, some dialogue even references him showing a softer side) but because he doesn't want them to get hurt because of him.
So he's less of a misanthropic edge lord and more of a lonely and depressed Yaksha trying to protect everyone else from himself even if it means hurting himself in the process. Seriously, some of his voice lines when he starts opening up to you are kind of depressing because it shows _JUST HOW ISOLATED HE IS_ like, the guy (again, in English) kind of sounds like he's trying to figure out what it is that he's feeling and you could possibly even make an argument saying that he sounds like he's about to cry out of frustration compared to his usual tone. Seriously, I wanted to give Xiao therapy ever since I heard about his backstory...but it's his voice lines that made me want to start putting him into crisis therapy.

I actually really disagree with Xiao's section. He's not for edgy people. He's for people who love soft bois. Xiao is such a puppy dog for the traveler and it's adorable. Have your HEARD his voice lines? He also has an adorable relationship with Verr Goldet, and a lot to unpack with Zhongli saving him and basically being his dad. He truly cares about other people, but he's just not okay with crowds. He's so much deeper than just being edgy, and the people who simp for him would know.

Chongyun's drip is FIERCE. I like his design more than most other characters including five stars. Him and Bennett were the first characters I ever pulled.

- talents.... still working on it 🥲 but he has the highest upgrade so far
- the only one I trust to use my only 5* weapon (Wolf's Gravestone)
- replayed his hangout a lot and even played it in different languages
Chongyun was the very first gacha character I pulled. On the Noelle banner. Sadly, I got Keqing on permanent banner and Zhongli on Character banner. So cor lapis scarcity occurred. Now that both of those are built, I'm building Chongyun again.

I rolled Chongyun recently and fell in love with his design and very cute voice almost immediately, I once chose him over Kaeya (who is one of my husbandos and objectively my best cryo character) because I love playing as him.

Around AR 25-ish, I remember wanting Chongyun really bad because of how much I resonated with his character and just couldn’t seem to pull him on Zhongli’s first banner. Can’t imagine my elation finally pulling him 25 ranks later and even getting C5 on Hu Tao’s banner

Well without his c1 where his last auto attack does cryo he is basically support. It is also that shatter mechanic terrible before 1.6 patch and when he has enough constellations he is amazing, but I find that his cooldown takes to long without proper set up. Characters like chongyun and keqing are better off with attk cups since an elemental cup might be a mistake imo

First glance at Chongyun, I was sold. Got him the same day I learned of him an was absolutely happy beyond belief. Learned his backstory and his personality, fell even harder for him. Chongyun is my absolute favorite and I'd protect him with everything I've got. ❄️
