It’s notable that North Korea and Russia have entered into a treaty, signaling shifts in global dynamics as U.S. influence appears to be waning. Let’s not forget, these are the outcomes shaped by collective decisions...
The Chosun Ilbo is a newspaper that supports President Yoon, and most of its articles are currently distorted. As a result, the majority of the Korean public does not trust this newspaper’s reporting. Most informed citizens do not believe the country is unstable because of the elements Choi mentioned in this interview. As an American who lived in South Korea during the 1980s, I have vivid memories of what martial law felt like. When President Chun Doo-hwan declared it, the atmosphere in the country turned instantly colder. A nationwide curfew was reimposed, and the faces of ordinary citizens betrayed a deep, unspoken fear. Now, four decades later, South Korea finds itself again confronting the specter of martial law. In 2024, President Yoon Suk-yeol made the unexpected decision to impose it around 10 p.m. Reports indicate that his approval ratings had sunk to the low teens, and with impeachment looming, he turned to this extreme measure. Echoing the rhetoric of the 1980s, Yoon justified the move as necessary to combat "anti-state forces." Former President Park Geun-hye, too, had reportedly considered martial law during her presidency, but was unable to implement it due to her impeachment. In these uncertain times, one can only hope that South Korea’s hard-won democracy will endure this latest trial.
Yoon Suk Yeol is a stupid idiot should not be elected in the first place. If Lee Jae-myung was elected in 2022, we definitely will not see this kind of BS.

Hello, I am a Korean living in Korea. There is currently some incorrect information from abroad. First of all, declaring martial law in the 21st century is ridiculous. President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law at 10:30 last night. The justification, or reason for declaring martial law, is to eradicate North Korean spies and protect the free Republic of Korea. However, this is not right. South Korea is a country that is in great political turmoil. Naturally, the people are criticizing the reason for declaring martial law as being wrong. I am leaving this post so that there is no misunderstanding due to incorrect information. Thank you.

Quick update from South Korea: when martial law was declared, President Yoon sent five troops to the Central Election Office, which oversees general and presidential elections. This unit operates independently; even the Attorney General cannot interfere with this part of the government. The only way the president can intervene is under martial law. This explains why martial law was rescinded just 6 hours after it was declared. Yoon sent only one troop to the parliament (which many people believe was just for show), but five times more were dispatched to the Central Election Office. Sources report that they secured the server and ransacked the place. It’s important to note that a significant majority of the Korean parliament are members of liberal parties, who oppose President Yoon (a conservative president). They have been planning to impeach Yoon, especially since the general election was held in April. We'll soon find out whether the members of the parliament were legally or illegally elected last April. Mainstream media is only showing one side of the story. To be continued...
They need to get enough members into the national assembly so they can revoke the Martial Law declared by the President. He's trying to pull a Donald Trump.

As a citizen of the Republic of Korea, I strongly condemn President Yoon Suk-yeol's unconstitutional martial law and will defend the freedom and peace of Korea.
And as a korean who holds dual citizenship of American and South Korea, this is what happens when the Korean government and any government across the world removes the power of the people. Here in America we have the right to bear arms to fight against any tyrannical government, and if any president or governor, mayor, etc tried to declare a martial law here in the US all of us armed American citizens would fight back.
Two hours after martial law was declared, the lifting of martial law was unanimously passed by the National Assembly, and it is highly likely that President Yoon will soon be impeached by the people of the Republic of Korea.
The situation already conclude, so all should be fine I guess we could expect another impeachment, because as far as I'm aware the public is outraged haha
President Yoon declared the lifting of martial law and said, "However, I ask the National Assembly to immediately stop ruthless acts that paralyze the nation's functions due to repeated impeachment, legislative manipulation, and budget manipulation." It has become clear that this martial law is not a matter of divided countries, North Korea and South Korea, but a martial law toward the people of the Republic of Korea and the National Assembly stemming from numerous issues surrounding First Lady Kim and President Yoon's own foolishness.

The Chosun Ilbo is a newspaper that supports President Yoon, and most of its articles are currently distorted. As a result, the majority of the Korean public does not trust this newspaper’s reporting. As an American who lived in South Korea during the 1980s, I have vivid memories of what martial law
felt like.
Echoing the rhetoric of the 1980s, Yoon justified the move as necessary to combat "anti-state forces."
Former President Park Geun-hye, too, had reportedly considered martial law during her presidency, but was unable to implement it due to her impeachment.
In these uncertain times, one can only hope that South Korea’s hard-won democracy will endure this latest trial.

Just a suggestion: if you want, you can request Indian govt to send some elite special forces, for dismantling this coup like situation with a targeted quick operation, if there're any human rights violations happening. Time is crucial, the more you wait, the more it'll be hard to infiltrate and conduct operation and then exit safely.
Take your decision asap.
I think you guys have US military bases in your country. So, if you'll waste time, the US will settle into the situation properly and we wouldn't be able to do anything afterwards. So, take quick decision.
Take care.

Hello, global citizens,
I am a young Korean living in South Korea.
I feel deeply ashamed that our country has drawn global attention due to the recent misconduct of Yoon Suk-yeol and his associates.
However, the people of South Korea are determined to take action once again to uphold democracy and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Please support us as we strive to reclaim our status as a leading global nation.
Thank you.
USA Military industrial complex love this 😬
I support your opinion
May God help you
Do you think it may be possible your President has intelligence regarding a national security threat from North Korea?
This doesn’t seem like democracy
Two hours after martial law was declared, the lifting of martial law was unanimously passed by the National Assembly, and it is highly likely that President Yoon will soon be impeached by the people of the Republic of Korea.
America you are next.
Omg South Korea stay safe
Next trump will declare that 😅

So where can we get truthful reporting?
President Yoon declared the lifting of martial law and said, "However, I ask the National Assembly to immediately stop ruthless acts that paralyze the nation's functions due to repeated impeachment, legislative manipulation, and budget manipulation." It has become clear that this martial law is not a matter of divided countries, North Korea and South Korea, but a martial law toward the people of the Republic of Korea and the National Assembly stemming from numerous issues surrounding First Lady Kim and President Yoon's own foolishness.
