This is an absolutely beautiful song, I'm so glad it's on RUclips. Her voice is so soulful and elegant, and the background instrumentals further aid in the sensations of my heartstrings being tug when I listen to this. It conjures up thoughts of staring out at a vast ocean from afar, gazing upon the ripples and waves that the ocean spawns, whilst simultaneously pondering about thoughts irrelevant to the scenery. The visuals of the ocean, the alluring flicks of its motion, the sound of it washing upon a metaphorical shore, act as white noise and a medium for interspersed thoughts. If I could somehow describe this almost indescribable thing into an analogy, it would be as if you were reading an extensive, voluble book that described every emotion - no matter how trivial or seemingly insignificant - that you ever had throughout your life. And with each emotion, vague memory is attached to it. Whilst subtle, feelings of bliss, of sadness, of anger, and mostly of love, are reinstated. This is just one of those songs that are hauntingly beautiful, it seeps with magic and gets better with each listen. So much so, that you could listen to it on loop and never get tired of it. It doesn't turn monotonous, nor awful, and it never putrefies. It's timeless. Takako, with her beautiful singing, is the one to thank here I reckon. She had made my day, made my year really, during a particular time that was... ...Uncertain, to say the least. Regardless, revisiting this song has proven to work its same magic on me that it had done 2 years ago when I first wrote this comment (...And now edited it because there were SO many grammatical errors. My bad.) and it's made me reflect. Breathing life into a distant memory, a period of my life, it brings me the same sadness, the same love, that I had felt during then. Anyways, sorry for turning an old, brief comment into a long one. But, I really wanted to drive the nail into the coffin as to the sensations that this song gives me. This song, as like the few rare instances like it where other songs capture the same essence, will always bask in the sunlight of my mind. Never shall it lay in darkness or in misery. I reckon I'll always look fondly upon this song and the memories attached to it for many years to come. Maybe this'll be a bi-annual, or annual, song I'll revisit. Thanks for your supportive replies by the way. I hope that you mutually feel the same or a similar sort of way (minus the needless wordiness) that I feel about this song
a heartbreak story hidden between high rise buildings and the hustle and bustle of 80s japanese economic boom. this is one of the essential city pop track.
I remember the first time went on a date with my girlfriend back in high school she was surprised that I was listening to this and I was surprised that she even here of takako it is and always will be one of the best moments in my life because just when I thought me and her couldn’t be more connected to each other fate came and proved me wrong. Where ever Mamiya may be I thank you for this one album I wish there could’ve been more I’m sure it would’ve been great.
Listened to the song high in my thoughts for two years.. went to Japan twice and was depressed after coming back, decided to fully indulge into my creative realm and made a song honoring this.
I just want to add that according to a korean youtuber she retired from music due to really poor sales in japan. This album is some kind of mistery in japan since is not even ranked on Oricon 1982. Kitty records representatives said she is ok and maried (or somethinf like that)
You look out the window. You ponder, that all those days ago, who was that person you met, while eating at a Chinese restaurant by yourself? Why did they intrigue you so much? And just why is it that, after so long, I can't forget about them? Where are they now? Are they long gone? Are they in a relationship? Was it all just a dream? But it dosen't matter now. You can't think of them anymore. But they linger. The memories of that day, the sunset, the vivid image in your mind of them... as you drift to sleep
On my 7~ish minute bus ride to school I always look forward to this song and “I’m in Love” by Tomoko Aran coming up in my playlist! It always brings me so much joy during my early morning commute and helps me forget my problems for just a little while 🤞🤞
