- Kulashekara Azhwar [844-870 AD], one of the twelve Azhwars of Sri Vaishnava Sampradhayam was a royal saint born in Thiruvanjikkalam in Kerela. He has composed Mukundamala in Sanskrit in the praise of Lord Krishna. In Mukundamala, Azhwar describes Lord Mukunda as the sole giver of Moksham (freedom from samsara). Mukundamala describes the misery of the Jeevathma trapped in this samsara and exhorts that Lord Krishna is the only means of Salvation.
On this auspicious occasion of Gokulashtami, Mukundamala, in the musical form, is presented as ragamalika. The following are the ragams:
