This is how boats are hauled up at a boat yard, so they can be inspected by a boat surveyor. A boat surveyvor is an expert who can determine whether a boat is structurally sound. The boat is hauled out to the dry dock, and then powered washed clean. Then the boat surveyor does his science / magic thing, banging the hull / rudder with his hammer, and looking and listening. I wanted to buy La Ballentina but needed to make sure that she was structurally sound, so I hired Andy Schwenk, a local surveyor. Andy said the boat was good to go, so I went ahead and bought the boat! You need a boat survey for insurance purposes, and to get your boat docked at a local marina.
