The road has not been easy for “Dance Mom’s” star Abby Lee Miller. After completing her prison sentence last year, the famed dance instructor was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. But if anything, Abby has proven she is a fighter and is not ready to hang up the dance shoes. The new season of Dance Moms follows Abby as she rebuilds her dance company while battling the after-effects of cancer that has left her confined to a wheelchair. Abby is ready to get back to her life and do what she loves most…teaching students to dance! With the goal of putting her life, health and dance studio back together, Abby returns to where it all began - the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh.

Judges clearly looked at both, Abby sometimes seems very sweet...but then moments like that. It just makes me think of her as a highly toxic person. Only Abby seems to actually look at Maddie most of the time it seems. Which is no surprise.

Apparently that exchange between Melissa and Abby in the store was heavily edited. You can tell because because they don’t form complete sentences.
This was my favorite Maddie/Kendall duet, and Mellissa lying and getting caught was sooooo funny.

Hey! Just letting you know that this was actually edited, and Melissa was upset that Maddie was downgraded from doing a solo to a duet. Melissa wasn’t upset she was doing a duet with KENDALL, but not doing a solo.
That’s still ungrateful and quite entitled but it’s not as harmful as what the editors made it out to be
She never said she wasn’t happy it was WITH KENDALL!! She wasn’t happy about having Maddie do a duet and NOT a solo! Abby’s the one that put the “with Kendall” part in Mellisas mouth. Mellisa specified that and was called a liar. Probably why she was crying in the episode.

As a dancer myself, when a teacher gives one girl a critique, you take that critique and apply it to yourself whether it was directed to yourself or not

@@metanoia4773 Maddie actually got a Joffrey scholarship too! the producers made it seem that she was upset about not getting one when she was upset with something her mom had said to her. I agree the first few episodes she was really confident but i think in reality the show’s producers just wanted it to seem like abby’s favorite was entitled, disrespectful and a brat when in reality both Maddie and Kenzie are very sweet and super polite

This is the one thing I hate about the show. Yes Abby is very terrible but a lot of the moments the moms get angriest are the times when Abby is doing her job as a dance teacher. I mean honestly, the teacher is supposed to give feedback. They should be more worried if Abby stops addressing them at all. Getting feedback was always my favorite part of dance and swim (and neither my coach or teacher were particularly sweet people) but I knew if they’re giving me feedback, that means they’ve invested time in me for a reason-they knew I’d improve. And i did. Every time

The producers probably told her to say that. There’s a lot of behind the scenes they don’t show. And I think melisma meant she wasn’t happy with Maddie not having a solo. They wouldn’t have a show of everyone got along.
Maddie was dealing with emotional abuse from Abby. She was always expected to be perfect. She also held a solo from Maddie as a form of manipulation for her mom choosing to protest for Kelly. If you think about it, Abby and Maddie’s relationship was so toxic.
The fact the Maddie always tells people the the are amazing and she loves them before every performance is so nice 🥰

Exactly! It’s what non confrontational people do. They’d rather not have anyone mad at them so they agree with whatever they think the other person wants. And why would Mellisa disagree with Abby when she knows Abby would take it out on her daughter? I think Mellisa played it safe with Abby.

I completely agree! Honestly, Melissa was one of the smartest moms.
She purposefully stayed quiet and obedient, knowing that Abby would take the anger on her out on her children.
She saw what happened with Christi and Chloe - how badly Chloe was mistreated because Christi kept arguing, so she took the safe route out to benefit her kids.

I honestly feel bad for all of the girls. Especially Maddie, you don’t tell a kid for their whole childhood they have to be win and if their not perfect it’s unacceptable. And the mums always say how unfair it is that Maddie gets all the opportunities which is basically saying she doesn’t deserve everything she works towards.

I really think Maddie got everything and she deserved it. The mothers always made it about how she had better choreo, always got solos, etc. the fact is that Maddie is the best dancer on that team. That’s not to say the other students are bad dancers; they’re also very good. However Maddie literally spent her whole day at that studio; I mean Melissa literally homeschooled just for dance. Ofc Maddie is going to be better; she spent more time on it. If all the other kids quit school and spent their life practicing and getting privates , then they would’ve done just as well. They had other priorities though, which is fine, but then it’s not surprising Maddie improved more. It’s pretty clear from the beginning Melissa had one goal-to make Maddie a star

Maddie’s line was obviously scripted. If you pay attention to anything she said you would know when she’s being forced to say something. She messes up her wording when she is forced to say one specific thing.

This is Abby, she saw too kids happy they had a duet together and wanted to manipulate the situation in making it seem a bad thing, so now everyone procrastinating and distant. It’s unfair how abby did these things sometimes, they were best friends just let them be happy dancing together

When seeing the duet even I as a non-dancer can see that Maddie is clearly the superior dancer. Kendall's movements were stiff and simplified, Maddie's were complex and flowing. Also Maddie has better facial expressions and makes it look way easier than Kendall, it was a nice duet, though

Yeah! I've been told to apply a correction in a high tone because that's what it takes to get the attention, plus if you say really softly point that foot it may get across but its more likely to get it across with a higher tone of voice
sometimes abby does go overboard but in this clip she was actually being constructive
We didn't fully see what happened but i don't think she was yelling just getting frustrated. I think Jill was mad at Abby for nagging and nit-picking her daughter before she goes on stage especially when Kendall already has really bad anxiety.

I think what Mellisa meant by “not happy about that” when Abby mentioned the duet was that she didn’t like that Maddie was doing a duet INSTEAD OF a solo. Abby was honestly so abusive in this episode to both maddie and kendall. You don't tell kendall that maddie has been downgraded to her duet partner that's gonna make kendall feel worthless and you don't tell maddie her whole life she's only good enough if she wins and is in top then replace her and Shatter her confidence.

All of the girls are good kids on the inside, they were crushed by the environment and influence around them when they were young. If all of them were spoiled brats I wouldn’t be surprised, it’s just because they weren’t raised well..🤷♀️
She was always very kind and welcoming. Producers and editors just completely screwed her over as a kid to fit a certain “character”/narrative for reality tv.
