      Not really the sultans of the Ottoman Empire can claim the title by rights of conquest
      But the titular heir would be the kings of Spain since Andres Paleologos, successor of the last emperor Paleologos IX, gave the title to the Catholic kings of Castile and Aragon.

      The Ottoman Empire was the only state in the CP to have a frontline and a functional standing army (the German army by 1918 had essentially collapsed). The Ottomans were indeed the best state after the Germans in the CP as they had caused many defeats to the British - causing the British to send more forces to the ME, meaning Germany had to fight less men. The Ottoman army was indeed a competent force that was in some scenarios was hindered by German advisors.

      I agree, the germans definitely have won with giant land grabs in Asia and Africa, a bunch of client states in Europe and with military and economic dominance to enforce it’s will. While the Habsburg and ottoman empire were just wrecks.
      And also Bulgaria, who also have won a lot but is overstretched.

    a) how on Earth Ottomans would claim hostlile Shia Arab Huzestan from Persia, but not brotherly Azerbaijan?
    b) what Georgia, who holds almost all of its ethnic territory and overall is irrelevant, would possibly want from the Empire?
    c) Which pilgrims were travelling via Jabal Shammar (except maybe Iraqis) to Hajj before railways? Majority of pilgrims went by sea via Egypt anyway;

      A) The Ottoman Empire doesn't actually claim Khuzestan. It's just the last remnant of the Qajar Dynasty that's under Ottoman "protection". Azerbaijan is friendly with the Ottomans, but otherwise aligned with Germany, thanks to the Caucasus Conference where they got all their territorial claims and were guaranteed independence.
      B) I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at here.
      C) The pilgrims coming from Iraq and Iran.
      D) I'm pretty sure that was more for cinematic effect, but the point is Egypt and Nejd are looking to sponsor domestic uprisings in the Ottoman Empire so they can carve up its territory.

      @@rustemzholdybalin6210, oh. What about Iranian Azerbaijan? I'm sure Iran wouldn't be in the mood to give it up, considering one of their more important historical cities is there, and Azerbaijan already has its hands full dealing with Armenian insurgents in its western territories.
      As for Georgia, they want the region of Ajaria, the part where one of their bigger cities, Batumi, is located. It's part of the Vilayet of Ardahan the Ottomans took back in 1918.

    • @rustemzholdybalin6210
      @rustemzholdybalin6210 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@occam7382 I mean, Turks would want Iranian Azerbaijan more than Khuzestan, assuming that they would take anything from crumbling Iran. And that region was already occupied particularyl by Russia in early 20th century. Speaking of Ajaria, it's still multicultural region back then, when most of Ajarians and Lazes were not imagining thselves as part of Georgian nation; moreover, Georgia became as homocultural as today during Soviet era, especially after deportation of Mtskheta Turks. Therefore, I doubt that smaller Georgian nation would gamble on expansion instead of trying to keep their stuff together

    In alternative historiography, you should also include facts, you have mistakes that will affect the outcome; If you take into account the following historical facts, you can form a different assumption.
    1) Sultan Reşat died of the Spanish flu in 1918. Unlike the previous sultans, he was the first sultan to tour his country and mix with the people. He was mild-mannered and very loved.
    2) The Caucasian Islamic Army is not an independent army, it is a corps of 3 divisions affiliated with the Eastern armies group. Likewise, later on, the divisions of this army would be among the effective divisions of the War of Independence during the Sakarya and Great Offensive.
    3) The Ottoman Empire was not a colonialist state in the truest sense. The most important feature of colonialist states is that they unfairly channeled resources to themselves from the countries they exploited. The Arabian peninsula, on the other hand, was a source of expense and manpower for the Ottoman Empire (except for the Levantine region).
    4) Cemal Pasha and Talat Pasha, members of the tripartite government, were pro-British, only Enver Pasha was pro-German. If the British had agreed, they would have entered the war on the side of the British, but since Russia and the British were determined to share the Ottoman Empire, they were forced to fall into the arms of Germany.
    5) Mustafa Kemal and his friends did not want the Arabian Peninsula because they saw it as a hole that hindered them on the way to westernization, naturally they did not want that region. I think his simple words are enough to explain this: "But there is no national consent for a single Turkish young man's nose to bleed, not for the deserts of Yemen, not for the ruthlessly idealist caliphate institution, but even for the whole world. And there will not be a national consent for a single Turkish young man's nose to bleed." It's not worth it.“
    6) Mustafa Kemal had very close relations with Azerbaijani patriots, in such a future scenario, a territorial integrity with Azerbaijan instead of Arab lands would be more correct.
    7) Mustafa Kemal was a person who was greatly influenced by the French revolutionary thinkers and the French revolution. It would be wrong to think of him as grand vizier during a period when the sultanate continued. The idea of establishing a republic dates back to the years before the war, and he told his friends about it.
    8) Enver would not leave power unless the war was lost, so Mustafa Kemal would not have a chance unless Mustafa Kemal's biggest rival left power. Fans of Enver Pasha were everywhere, even to the point of threatening Mustafa Kemal with death.
    9) It would be a bit ridiculous if the Arabs, who were repeatedly beaten by tiny Israel despite having Soviet Russia behind them, could defeat the Ottomans in such a scenario.

      In the case of #3, Colonialism rarely bore profits. Only if you are wide enough that colonialist powers could turn a profit but its well-known that colonies are nothing but an expensive toy to keep around if you dont have enough. Spain, in her dying years, barely cared about her colonies in Cuba and the Philippines solely because, it wouldve made better sense to sell them rather than try to keep them. The original thirteen colonies were expensive to Britain, especially to protect hence why they wanted to tax them in the first place. The USA's independence had a rather positive impact to the overall British economy. Japan's colonial experiment to Siberia during the Russian Civil War resulted similarly with the state paying more than what they could ever profit from the colony so was eager to retreat from it, the moment a justifiable reason presented itself. French Indochina was famously a money sink for the economically devasted postwar France. Britain's entire reason for decolonialization was because colonies were expensive to maintain and Britain had exhausted all her capital.
      The Ottoman Empire was a colonialist state through and through and while it did not necessarily profit from its empire, the resources of its colonies only benefitted Istanbul.

    The Empire needs a Murad IV persona here. The last of his line to led a military campaign and won in Baghdad and Yerevan. Died so young.. because you know, the endless court conspiracies, malfunctioning economy, and helplessly incapable officials. His life is a testament both to everything fearsome and grand in the Ottoman realm and to the inevitability of the empire’s fall. Modern Turkey has immense potential. Funny enough, its sole problem (that no one is talking about) is being a successor to a Balkan-first empire that does not exist anymore in the Balkans. The first century of the republic had passed as we tried to figure out what to make of Asia Minor, a vast open terrain that honestly no one cared about for a millennium..

So there is a Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Royal Tank Corps but no “Royal” army just the British Army

Seeing weakness, the various princes consolidated power in the south, with the Viceroy of India and his forces retreating west to the more loyal princes of Jammu and Kashmir.
