Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis that develops in some people with the skin condition psoriasis. It typically causes affected joints to become inflamed (swollen), stiff and painful.
Like psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis is a long-term condition that can get progressively worse. In severe cases, there's a risk of the joints becoming permanently damaged or deformed, which may require surgical treatment.
However, with an early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, it's possible to slow down the progression of the condition and minimise or prevent permanent damage to the joints.
    Symptoms of psoriatic arthritis
The pain, swelling and stiffness associated with psoriatic arthritis can affect any joint in the body, but the condition often affects the hands, feet, knees, neck, spine and elbows.
The severity of the condition can vary considerably from person to person. Some people may have severe problems affecting many joints, whereas others may only notice mild symptoms in 1 or 2 joints.
There may be times when your symptoms improve (known as remission) and periods when they get worse (known as flare-ups or relapses).
Relapses can be very difficult to predict, but can often be managed with medication when they do occur.

I have psoriatic arthritis with spine involvement and no skin condition. It took 7 years and 3 doctors and 2 rheumatologist to get a diagnosis in the US. That's sickening. But what's worse is its considered OK.

I feel you on that one. I started my arthritis journey at 15. First mri "neck" was aprox 1 year later. First CT scan was summer of 17 failed a physical examination for college football. Low back pain at 22, First hip pain at 26ish. Had an umbilical hernia that insurance wouldn't cover the surgery for 6 years. After the surgery at 36. I wasn't able to recover my energy "fatigue" and developed more psoriasis issues, planter facilities, tendinitis etc... and I finally got to see a rheumatoid Doctor. Took one little exam and one x-ray "sacroiliitis". 22 years of slow degradation multiple mri hell I've had a full body mri, ,x-rays, CT scans, 6 doctors or so. All I had to do was get to the point I couldn't walk without excruciating pain to get a diagnosis. Currently on max dose of cosentyx highly recommended I'm able to pretend I'm normal sometimes 🙂.

Ohh I forgot, one more thing if you have elevated liver levels get checked for fatty liver. The inflammation from psa can increase your risk. I'm almost ready to stop getting tested for things I have way too high of a success rate. 😑

I have heard that Moringa helps with rheumatoid arthritis. Does it help with PSA? I have also hears that psychedelic mushrooms taken in microdoses can help with arthritis. Any recommendations? I try to eat a mostly meat diet. But I also love watermelon and pineapple. It is difficult to stay away from baked potatoes and watermelon lol. But I wouldn't think they would hurt? I can barely walk most days and I used to walk 10K steps a day before this recent murderous flare. My big toe is HUGE and I have gotten some relief by applying castor oil. HELP.

I have a relative who has schzophrenia and psoris arthritis. Are these issues linked at a genetic level?

From my research, yes they can be. In that autoimmune disorders and schizophrenia have both been linked to Neanderthal DNA acquired when Homo Sapians and Neanderthals interbred. Other things include red hair and inflammatory disorders.

And you dont have to have psoriasis to have psoaratic arthritis, even reumatologists seem to get thrown by this and leads to decades of delays in treatment & diagnosis.

Psoriatic arthritis is seronegative it won’t show up on blood test or other test. Educate yourself about the disease. Be persistent with your doctor.

I have very little patch of eczema on my head/scalp and after that I started to get fungal toe nails and now I am getting arthritis. GP, Hospital took ages to find out what was wrong with my problem and I was told I've got psoriatic arthritis. I have pain all over my body. I took Methotrixcate, Sulphasalazine, Folic Acid, Pdenisolone then Naproxen. I was pain free only with Pdenisolone. I even tried Moringa and didn't work at all. Now I am trying Apple Cider Vinegar and nearly third week and slightly pain free but I don't know. It's horrible to have these pain everyday. I don't know what can cure me.
