I can’t begin to relate how much this guy and his music have meant to me since I was swept away by the Koln concert back in the 70s. There are no words.
Never looked but were there ever lyrics added to this? Maybe Keith could find a vocalist to give another view of his to this piece. Of course imagining, and hearing his emotional cries to his music always made me think of my first lost love.
Keith: one of the most sublime extensions of Creator, creating. Thank you for all you've given us here on Earth and the multi dimensions. The Angels must weep when they hear your music. I certainly have for my whole life.
went to a master class w herbie Hancock and herbie said quote" chick n himself play a great jazz piano but keith is the maestro " does anyone need to say any more..
Each new version has a couple of 'naughty' disonances to delight the senses. A master at work. Happy birthday to you. Victory in Europe to Victory of the soul.
The word "genius" has been thrown around so indiscriminately that one tires of hearing it. But not in reference to this man. The depth of his talent is so sublime and extraordinary that to call him a true genius is no exaggeration. None at all. Like many others, I have been profoundly moved by his gifts many times. There is no-one like him.
So incredibly beautiful... touches your heart so deeply in the simplest parts at the start as well as in the more virtuosic improvisation. I can't stop listening to it!
He is the Master of the intros, the Genius of the outros (pls, find "Still Live" 2LP, with Trio)... and, let me to be completely honest, the GOD of everything between.
DavidJazzP The intros are always from the heart. Intros Awken the true feelings, the body and hands express the music, and the ending closes the heart again - Jarrett does it so beautifully. 💖 Django
This was the song that captured me as a fan way back in the latter part of the 70’s. Hearing it still brings back summer memories of a love found, and lost, but never forgotten. I’ve heard it played by Keith a hundred times and it still moves me as if hearing it for the first time.
Such a true genius... I love how the intro pre-figures the motive of the melody when it appears. And in the this version , he even adds new changes to the 'expected' harmonization.
Ms. San, first, I love your comments, but more importantly, your passion for Jarrett's music is greatly appreciated by those others of us who share that passion. I remember the first time I heard him do a solo piano standard -- Old Man River -- at a solo recital. I was unaware that he played such things. It was one of the most stunningly beautiful things I had ever heard. More power to us all that he lives in this world, and shares it with us. Be well.
Chris Horton thanks for that unhelpful comment. It is really the best song in Harry’s opinion. What would really interest me: What’s the best one in your opinion?
When Jarrett plays like this, one should cherish every note; his playing is breathtaking.

There are no words. Wait, yes, it just came to me. Brilliant.
Were you really at that magical Kôln in 1970?? You are so damn lucky..
The word is heavenly
How ... is this even possible? Beyond inspired. Pure love finds pure awareness at a piano.
Never has the sound of the piano moved me so much..
So stunning. Listening again after reading in the New York Times about his strokes and I’m overwhelmed with tears. I’m so thankful for this music.
I second that! He’s blown me away so often I can’t put it in numbers.
One of my favourite song ever , and favourite interpretation . This song touch the angels ..... thanks Keith 🙏
Find it hard ro listen to this without a tear forming.. so beautiful..x
Poetry that rips the heart out as it unfolds.
Beautifully put!

Chick and Herbie are in the Olympus, but Keith is the God
My absolute favorite Keith tune since I first heard it on the My Song album. Cool to hear how he plays it as a solo.
Trailblazing adventure into a delicious musical world with wild innocence and reverance
This is one of the best songs ever!

one of the best intros, absolutely touching. reassures my devoted love for Keith Jarrett's playing.
Exactly how I feel.
it feels infinitely good to find someone who shares this love for Keith's playing. thanks, Peter Oberg.
Say it, Sister San !! ;)
Maybe the best introducing of him. Certainly one of them who come from nowhere. This is why we love this guy.
Wonderful piece. His dynamics are fabulous. The notes sound like bells pealing into the night. Thanks for putting this up.

Great song, great version. Saw him close a solo concert with this once. Unforgettable
absolutely. Sometimes the intros are the best thing.

The same is true for me!
The most beautiful intro for this magnificient piece 🫶🏻
Grande Jarret. Impariamo!
Intro incroyable pour "My song", thème pourtant bien connu. On ne le voit pas venir !
i like him to play a music with piano. so romantic..
The jewel box of sound!
