Gotta love how cool Dogma is. My favorite boss. Dungeon after dungeon of blood and shit, and we get a static monster who turns into biblically accurate angles. And the crazy sounding lines from the bible. . . Actually pretty scary tbh!
i think like many others that dogma should have been the final boss, i know im saying the same thing 287 people said but its just how it is for me, the beast is really cool but this is more appropriate for the game in my opinion

All of Dogma's attacks are designed to make the player panic and look overwhelming whilst remaining completely fair and avoidable if you're focused. In a way that sorta ties into what the Dogma creature is trying to do, it's trying to overwhelm Isaac with all the doctrine and his own self-hatred and trauma, but if Isaac is strong enough, he can ignore it, refuse to listen to this creature that has ruined his entire life, and fight back against his inner turmoil.

I cry every time I see this. Dogma hands down is worth the entire price of the DLC: it's full of meanings and lore, it's awesomely designed, the boss battle is fun and challenging, the music is super bangers... Dogma is the best thing TBoI has ever had.
man I just fought the boss today after a year of dodging spoilers, and the beast fight after was honestly just the cherry on top, this is probably one of the best dlcs in all of history
That's why I like Hush, with all of its patterns being consistent and most of them being bullet hell attacks you really get to appreciate the fun of just dodging things.
I think people who say Dogma should have been the final boss are missing the point. The Beast is Isaac's mother. If you Ascend, you only defeat Mom, not Mom's Heart, which means you haven't killed her. If you defeat Mom's Heart and carry on, Isaac becomes consumed by guilt and dies. But if you Ascend, he faces Dogma and then becomes _blinded by it._ Consumed by indoctrination, he fully believes his mother is the Antichrist and the bringer of the Apocalypse, so he feels fully justified and can kill her without regret, seeing it as the will of God. Just like Delirium, Dogma is the final boss you don't win against even if you defeat them. The Beast is just the result of that.
I agree, but I think it would also work if Dogma was a final boss. Maybe something about Isaac realizing its terrifying nature and defying its ways to stop all the guilt for being "satanic" and "impure", seeing how this side of religion, that indoctrinated his mother, even more corrupt. Not complaining tho, I'm happy with what we got as well, just a thought.
I‘m assuming everyone wants Dogma to be the final boss because The Beast is so underwhelming and pathetic. It’s just another fight with a corrupted version of Isaac’s mother, but now she’s mixed with Big Horn and has harder versions of the Harbingers that steal 4/5ths of her theme and fight. While that is true, I think that, despite it, Dogma and The Beast go hand on hand and truly create a masterpiece. The way Isaac faces the exact broadcasts that turned his mom into the psychopathic zealot she is, after going through the ascension and listening into all of the familial struggles Isaac’s parents had, mainly with his mom being obsessed with the dogma she heard and shunning Isaac and his father for not “living in the light”, until he can’t take it anymore. And then at the end of the route, you finally face what started it all. The corrupt TV programming. But the fight doesn’t end there. Because while you may have defeated the dogma that corrupted her, the damage it caused to his family will never be undone. And The Beast, as a final reflection of his mother, appearing right after that fight, is thematic gold. You destroyed the source of the problem. And as you see immediately after its fight, that will never change the immense damage it caused to his family, to Isaac and his mother. That’s my interpretation of Dogma and Beast, even though yours is really good and makes more sense tbh

Isaac killing himself as a fetus wouldn’t kill his Mom. I think the only route where she actually “dies“ aside from the Beast path is the alt path where you kill Mom, and then something that actually seems to be her heart, turning her womb into her corpse.

I never see anyone talk about this, but the victory transition (6:30) is so damn cool. The static turning up as the screen goes wild and then shuts off in such an overdramatic way. Love it. Great way to end a fight. Gets me pumped to fight Ultra Beast when nothing else does.
One other detail that not many people noticed. Dogma has voice lines (he's reciting the bible with a deep voice, you can find it on youtube), and he (it?) Only says them right before attacking you. I would assume it is a metaphor for words from impure people like corrupt priests twisting the original meaning of religion and hurting you in the process
you can see that even once you defeat dogma, it remains. it's already tainted isaac's mind, and his mom's. it will never really die. if it can't affect isaac, it'll just reach someone else.
Everything about this boss is so good, but one thing that i especially love about it is the sound design of both dogma and the soundtrack that plays, it sounds so alien and haunting. One of the best bosses in isaac for sure

My favorite boss will always be Delerium, he's just so damn cool and is very importnant to the games lore, but Dogma is an extremely close second, I can't help but love charachters with a staticy theme.

The fact that this game and all it's dlc is a reflection of Edmund Mcmillen's own mental psyche and past tramas, really lets you know how religion can be used for both evil purposes as well as for good.
While I do love the beast, Dogma, in what he represents thematically for Isaac, SERIOUSLY should’ve been the final boss. I wish that the Beast was scrapped, and Dogma was given a larger and more expansive fight instead.
Imho I think Dogma deserves to be the final final boss instead of beast, it fits better with the overall story as the source of isaacs mothers insanity, and the reason the game starts in the first place (if we discount the lost not influencing his mother as well lol) I just think Dogma is such a cool and interesting boss

The lore is mom becomes a Christian fanatic, dad leaves the family, mom becomes abusive to Isaac, Isaac locks himself in a chest to cope and eventually suffocates. The entire game happens in his head while he is in the chest
the dogma boss fight is isaacs interpretation of the dogmatic christian propaganda isaacs mum consumes constantly and the beast is how isaac sees his mother after fighting dogma (the beast is wearing her dress but im not exactly sure what the beast is meant to represent)

The Bible instantly kills mom if you use it during her bossfight, do that once and you'll unlock it. It also instantly kills Mom's heart but it doesn't really do much.

In the instance of this boss, Dogma is the representation of the principles and such preached by TV evangelists, and if you recall, Isaac's mom was always watching "Christian broadcasts". It's why Doma is static-y (like TV static) and then takes on the form of a biblical angel during its second phase. The 'amgod' part is just a neat coincidence lol.

I think the reason i love this boss is because static scared me as a kid, it just felt creepy in my opinion.

While I do love the beast, Dogma, in what he represents thematically for Isaac, SERIOUSLY should’ve been the final boss.
I wish that the Beast was scrapped, and Dogma was given a larger and more expansive fight instead.

Imho I think Dogma deserves to be the final final boss instead of beast, it fits better with the overall story as the source of isaacs mothers insanity, and the reason the game starts in the first place (if we discount the lost not influencing his mother as well lol) I just think Dogma is such a cool and interesting boss

I dont get issac lore at all. Its confusing. But what i do know is that this is one of the coolest bosses ive ever seen.
The lore is mom becomes a Christian fanatic, dad leaves the family, mom becomes abusive to Isaac, Isaac locks himself in a chest to cope and eventually suffocates. The entire game happens in his head while he is in the chest

the dogma boss fight is isaacs interpretation of the dogmatic christian propaganda isaacs mum consumes constantly and the beast is how isaac sees his mother after fighting dogma (the beast is wearing her dress but im not exactly sure what the beast is meant to represent)

The Bible instantly kills mom if you use it during her bossfight, do that once and you'll unlock it. It also instantly kills Mom's heart but it doesn't really do much.

@@nepcNK it seems random but it goes infront of the direction you're moving after a specific amount of time. As you can see in the video he moves slowly so that he doesn't run into it, then turns around
@@omniferousswan593 It’s not time, it’s which cardinal direction you’re closest to. For example, if it starts the beam vertically, and you move down to Dogma’s left to avoid it, it will shift to a left-facing beam as soon as you pass the 45 degree angle between Dogma’s left and above Dogma.

In the instance of this boss, Dogma is the representation of the principles and such preached by TV evangelists, and if you recall, Isaac's mom was always watching "Christian broadcasts". It's why Doma is static-y (like TV static) and then takes on the form of a biblical angel during its second phase.
The 'amgod' part is just a neat coincidence lol.
