    Fantastic information in the video. I would rather watch a long video if you are sharing your vast experience and knowledge rather than a short video. I think it's great that you used solvent just so we can learn. Just need a 2k direct video now please. I learnt loads from this video. I would also love a video using a spray gun that a diy person could relate more to.

    Been painting solvent for years at specialist shop doing only bespoke colour changes until i started doing peelable paint also and it only worked with water scheme absolutely hated it but i now love it lol dont think i could go back to solvent now.. only used mipa once in solvent now currently using sikkens autowave 2.0. Also tried spies hecker and glasurit which is one of the older brands top stuff.

    Is it my imagination or is Solvent base coat a lot thicker/ heavier than water base coat ?
    It certainly seems thicker coming out the gun .

    Hi Jason, I found this very interesting hearing your thoughts about the pros and cons of each system, I have the Kapci mini solvent paint scheme and while I really like the results I would like to learn to use water basecoat, I have used it in my little homemade booth in my workshop but drying it was always a big problem for me even when I used a hairdryer it still took ages but back then I didn't have any heat but I've now got an indirect diesel heater which is ideal for solvent basecoat.
    I've never seen the thinners you used in the basecoat before do you think it would work in my Kapci scheme Jason? now I have heat in my booth I use slow thinners all year round but if the Mipa thinners would give a better finish I'll give it a try🤔
    Thanks for sharing this mate and I love the longer videos👍

    • @TheHumblePaintSprayer333
      @TheHumblePaintSprayer333  2 месяца назад +1

      Water will dry no problem on small areas with a hairdryer as long as you have it on a heat setting, Im not sure if that thinners would work im sure it would can't see why not
      Thank you mate 👍

    Solvent for me mate

  • @vasiliskaradimos

    Hello from Greece mate... Everything you said on this video is absolutely wright for Mipa...I have Mipa solvent base mixing system....I don't have problems with color match....I used every day and for me solvent is better for a productive shop ...I am thinking also the Mipa water system....I have paint some overall with water and it is very good....The problem with solvent for me is the control coat...On two coats the surface is perfect and smooth.... When i apply the control coat became like sand even with slow reducer....I also use the stabilizier and it helps....Also i have problems with all mipa clears...Next day lose the gloss and for this i use Standox or Greek HB Body for no problems.... Cc9 dry good and hard but next day I don't like it... Cx2 and Cs44 i think it's their best clears.... Sorry for my big message...😊

    • @TheHumblePaintSprayer333
      @TheHumblePaintSprayer333  2 месяца назад +1

      Hello Greece mate hope your well, yeah it does cause a bit a sand piling and make it slightly rougher than water, its a characteristic of most solvent base coats but doesn't affect the clear much, maybe minimal shrinkage on the clear compared to water
      I get on really well with CC9 i love it, i thin 3% on the scales and put a good first coat on
      I do like the CX2 but CC9 has better gloss for sure, if your losing gloss on them maybe the base coat isn't dried through completely, or could be your climate with humidity, i had this issue with the water, i wasn't dehydrating it fully and skinning it over, CC9 is not good for quick production work CX2 is better for that, but CC9 polishes nicer and gloss is nicer just needs a bake for 30 mins, i leave it for a good 15-20 mins before i put it on bake, it takes a while to air dry
      This week ive used CX2, CC9 and CC14 Thix back to back, I'm not sure on the CC14 atm, its cloudy in the pot but gloss is great i need to try some more yet
      Thanks for you comment 🙏

      @@TheHumblePaintSprayer333 I have also tried the Cc 14....I find it quite thicker but the result on a hood was like flow coat....I don't have gloss problems with Standox and Body...I leave the base to dry on time...I think mipa clears is better for colder countries like yours... Here is 25 September and it's 31 degrees and lot days with high humidity....I have try all their clears ..c75 Cs 85...cs90 cs 95 Cc7 Cc 8 CC 9 Cc 12 cs174 cx2 Cx4 Cs44.....I am tired... hahaha 🤣....

    Hi, enjoy your videos, the only thing I am surprised about, having all the top Sata guns, why don’t you use an air fed mask. The rubber charcoal cartridge respirators don’t protect you enough from isocyanates.

      Thank you for this comment, your so right i haven’t been using my air fed because of the head mount camera but i know I’ve needed to so this has made me look in to other ways to use the camera and I’m getting a crash helmet mount so i can mount it to my visor, hopefully it works
