- The Transportation Department announced new rules Wednesday requiring airlines to issue automatic cash refunds for flight cancelations or delays, delayed baggage returns and services like Wi-Fi or seat selection that are paid for but not provided. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg joins CBS News to discuss the changes and how airlines are reacting.

This is such good news. It is crazy all the extra fees and rude employees telling me that I should have done this or that but I didn’t know and was not told. Thank you Mr Buttigieg!

You can faced all emotions; same than one video on social media, when one flight is cancelled without any reason of compensation.
hard to believe that the airlines can take up to 5 to 30 days to refund your money isn’t that a bunch of BS?

Let’s only hope the airlines don’t try to fly planes that needs urgent maintenance because they don’t want to pay refunds to passengers.
Great start but now you need to expand those kinds of consumer protections to other services. Broadband and Phone Providers would be high on my list.
YES! And they should be required to offer refunds when it takes 6 hours to speak to customer service!
As someone who works at home and only has ONE option for internet, it’s unacceptable that it can take days to resolve problems.
For the first time in DECADES, we have a Secretary of Transportation who is REALLY doing his job....GREAT job Mr Secretary....I think Pete Buttigieg can take on ANY "secretary role" in the Biden cabinet...and be a HUGE success...he is a QUICK study and makes important decisions for the LITTLE guy....GREATTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

Yes! Airlines deserve this! Especially if they're going to bump me to steerage after I paid for a 1st class, and then seat me beside a door that'll fall off mid flight!
