your teacher is Emanuel Ax!?! He grew up in my home town, Winnipeg. He had a piano teacher when he was in winnipeg, she was my teacher too....MANY MANY MANY YEARS later.
Enjoyed this vlog very much. Time management is vital to squeeze everything you need done in a relatively short amount of time. I do find that time passes so quickly each day as soon as you get up in the morning. I find that one of the most important messages you share consistently is actually in your calm demeanor, and it is that no matter what, you always appear relaxed and unstressed. Thanks for your informative time management vlog. It’s always entertaining to watch your videos. I look forward to Part 2!
good luck on your audition, tiffany! :-) thanks for taking the time to make these videos in between all your academics and music! wishing u all the best to come
This gal is a livin' doll ~ I love how she is so meticulous and dedicated to her craft. I enjoy every vid of her spending her personal time to share her past and ongoing experiences ~
Yes, I think so too. As artist.adviser, I find this musician really organized in her job. And even if at the beginning, I suppose, her parents convinced her that would be a nice carrier, she studied seriously.
Seeing that you have a hearty appetite, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts about whatever physical fitness regime you might have or if you rely mostly on what is no doubt calorie burning piano practice since you seem to stay relatively thin.
languagebucket I don’t think there is anything wrong with having a hearty appetite. It is kind of vague anyway. Several people seemed to think she had a large breakfast. I also said, “whatever physical fitness regime you MIGHT have.” I wasn’t expecting her to make an entire video just to say, “I just walk” and then end the video. I also don’t disagree with any of your advice but if she did have more to say than “I just walk” her thoughts could be potentially interesting if she chose to share them. Also my reference to her piano playing was partially a joke. Her playing can get pretty intense. That’s not to say that she isn’t burning calories playing piano. I used to play in chess tournaments and my face would sometimes get hot when I was concentrating really hard. Technically, scientifically speaking ,I am burning calories. But it was never a fitness plan. I wish it could be, that would be awesome.
Love the vlogs. Thank you so much and keep it up! You're such an inspiring and adorable lady. I hope to one day be able to support you and your aspirations.
Hahaha, I literally smiled throughout your video. Such a sweetheart!!! You are so cute!!!!Can't believe that my favorite pianist is sharing her life on youtube! Thank you youtube!
I saw on your website that you participated in the contest chopin. That's really impressive ! 😁 I now why I find your expression of your music so beautiful. Thanks to be on RUclips!🤩
Right on point. I too have to plan my day by the minute. Running a buisness, teaching lessons, and going to school all at once is pretty taxing, but time management is the way.
Hi just wanna say you are very talented in music and the content you create is extremely helpful hope you have a great year in 2019 and all the best in your future endeavours :) Oh um what country are you from i am really curious haha
kudoz, I had similar experience...I tried to balance it all and realized at least for me balance in the moment was a myth, there would always be something dominating the other and needing most of my time and energy; but balance could be achieved overall as in the course of a month or semester or year ....and music school piano performance demands and my study at the college of arts and sciences for biochemistry, there could be no balance in real time at the moment, I had to get good at deciding what to compromise on, sometimes I'd take a lower mark on a lab or assignment leading to a test for biochem track, at times i would let a studio piano performance assigned performance mark lag a little so I could prep for a test, other times neither could give so i had to simply take less courses, which extended my total time at the school, but that was a price I was willing to pay to complete and excel in two demanding and conflicting courses of study everyone's way of dealing is different but once I accepted that "balance" while it was all happening wasn't possible or realistic for me, I was a lot happier and successful
Gene Kim busy every day ? pretty much I also never took any summers off I did at least 1 but many times 2 of the summer semesters and minimesters , I practiced enough , which cod have more but enough to ace my juries , recital hearings, etc, some days no practice some days 5 hrs some 2....still found time to workout ,enjoy time w friends and so fun stuff here or there , but busy/hectic was the normal existence
Again - an excellent Vlog! U really need all that food! I hope it tastes good too. Another support:) So, plan ahead and set goals! I could maybe add focus?? Because when u for instance practise details over and over again - maybe 100 times in a row - what do you think about then? That matters a lot. You could think about everything else, but that would take away some of the effectiveness of ur repetitions, anyway at some level. But if you thought - as far as possible anyway - on every little detail you do when repeating, you might be able to reduce ur practising time, but at the same time risking going crazy:) Because these details repeated again and again are mildly spoken not interesting. So that's discipline - which is an important part of time management. I imagine:)As a pianist I always practise by mood and sight read, unless i have a concert (earlier i did some and might again) and because of that i always love the music when playing, but surely risk missing some detatils. Something in the middle might be ideal. I remember Yuja once said: "interesting to see what magic happens tonight when i play" or something like that. If she knows 100 % every detail before, there would be no magic, if you understand what i mean?? The magic makes the music interesting, both for the artist and the audience, whereas a very academic woman like yourself with all your admirable sytem, might loose just some magic?? I love your playing very much, both artistical and technical. Wonderfull! But maybe you sometimes miss that extra percent magic, that is extremely imortant?? An example of the opposite of you. We had a danish actually interesting composer, Niels Viggo Bentzon, who could also improvise music and sometimes did it on stage. My earlier piano professor once witnessed 2 concerts with him - 2 nights in a row the same place. The first night he played miserable - but the next like an adventure:) He actually as part of the programme improvised a complete piano sonata, 3 movements, perfect in its form and interesing and beautyfull. After the concert John asked Niels Viggo: " Why don't you write that down on notes, so others might b able to play it"? "Well", he answered, " why don't you do it your self? You probably remember better than me how and what the music was" Hmm, now in my own time management i should actually have practised piano right now, but i found this more interesting xD :) But, but - thank you so much Tiffany! We are so many that can learn a lot from you. Your way of method, your human warmth and humour and self irony, the interesting details from your life, which is actually in very interesting places. First and last. If you want to be an artist, the discipline you show is a must. If one should be able to make a living from art professionalism is needed. You have that Tiffany. In the best possible way - but still there might b the 1% ?? :)
Nice video. I recently watched a similar video about Paul Coll. Coll is a professional squash player and it was interesting for me to see how he spends his day. It is generally interesting to me to see the details of how high achieving people attain their goals. In your video you talk about setting priorities. You seem to have a very organized approach to life. I have met other people like you. The question of priorities of course raises the question of goals. I am curious (and I am sure many others are as well) as to what your long terms goals are. What would you like to be doing in 5, 10, or 20 years? I recognize the fact that for most people, including myself, such goals are quite fluid. As one experiences life and learns, one's goals can shift substantially. Opportunities that one could never have imagined may arise and cause one to turn in an entirely new direction. Anyway, if you feel comfortable about sharing some of your longer term goals, I sure many of your fans would enjoy hearing you talk about them.
Hi Tiffany, I like your videos so much. I am a high school student right now. And you are so inspiring to me. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you for doing this. I noticed that you played a piece in this video. Can I know the name of that piece you played at 4:40? I would like to play it.
Speaking of time management, i would like to introduce a book by damon zahariades titled " to do list formulas". This book, which can be found on amazon, talks about creating a to do lists to prioritize daily tasks. I thought it may be useful to you and fellow fans to make life easier despite tight schedule.
were those pianos at Julliard or Columbia? are the pianos there really that outta tune? you would think they would do a better job at keeping them well maintenance and tuned well. i agree, life happens. i was taking lessons few years back, but had to cancel temporarily because lessons became inconvenient for me. But practicing is always available
my daughter is 6 and half years old, she has been learning piano for one year, we gonna put her into steinway and academy school, we want her to follow your path to achieve success, please could you give us some advises? Many thanks. my daughter is also called Tiffany Fu😅
Thank you for sharing! I love your videos If I were your dad, I would be extremely proud, but I would tell you that I would not expose such a detailed schedule of your day life, there are a lot of crazy people.
Priorities (in order of importance): Sleep, Eat, Play, Socialize/Talk, Think, Read............................................................................Work
I enjoyed you escorting me through one of your days. I'm older therefore all you said about priorities would for the most part no longer apply to me. I think from a previous video I found out you have a degree in philosophy, I was also interested in the subject, who wasn't. I suppose my favorite philosopher would be Kierkegaard, though it has been so so long ago since I've been able to consider it, it is his philosophy which resonated best with me. Especially his existential ideal symbol of riding the horse resolutely committed. I cannot remember his wording as it's been atleast 15 years since I studied him. You sure are committed in filming for fans and keeping your activities public, It might be some type of generational difference. Social media is very popular. I talk with people rather well and socialize normally, my greatest attribute socially is no doubt my near impeccable manners. In many ways manners and simple curtisy make the world go round. If you simply observe society you'll notice how something as simple as manners and respect is a central glue to societies everyday behavior in social settings. I myself a, not a very social person actually. I do enjoy my alone time more than being around others.
How about sound track management. I must constantly adjust the volume, both to be able hear you, and to keep from getting my ear drums blasted out by sudden huge increases in sound level. Work on that, OK?
your teacher is Emanuel Ax!?! He grew up in my home town, Winnipeg. He had a piano teacher when he was in winnipeg, she was my teacher too....MANY MANY MANY YEARS later.
Wait a minute! I have been living in Winnipeg for 8yrs now. I feel like I need to meet him!
@@patrick5592 Vous parlez un peu français là-bas ? :p
Thank you Tiffany. Do well. I am praying for your ultimate success.
Here you have some constructive Tipps and then you have TwoSetViolin : "why are you not practicing!! Do you want me to Kungpao you chicken?"
And sitch on your pepper
lol I can hear Eddy's voice while reading those lines 🤣😂
Both very motivating though 🤣
I am a pianist too and I love your channel! You are so unbelievably talented and your videos are very helpful😄
See how hard she works? Amen! 😎
Daim, 9:18 and already at the piano 😂 I usually chill until like 10.
Looks like the Jyard pianos got better

You have done great.
Thanks for letting people know how busy some are.

I've finally realized why I find Tiffany so cute: she reminds me of Björk.
she doesn't really look like her
