- I am a cat/kitten person and I found a local kitten rescue that takes in 1 day to 3 week old kittens and raises them and finds them a home. They are doing a great job. I wanted to document what they do and to help them promote their rescue by making a video of them feeding the little ones...
It usually takes 10 minutes or so to feed one kitten with a bottle. we have anywhere from 5 to 15 kittens that need to be fed each day 3 times a day during peak season. This is how they take care of the problem and save lots of time doing it.

+Robert Jondalar It is not easy to bottle feed so many kittens at once, so we are always looking for ways to speed up the process AND create it in a natural way for them, one of those ways would be for them to nurse together, hunt for nipples, even fight over them, although I tend to separate them when it happens, it's good and natural for them to behave that way. You should pattent the design, this is a real game changer people could foster more kittens with this and would also help at the animal shelters where they don't have enough time to feed orphaned animals.

I made a similar "surrogate mom" I bought a half yard of real feeling faux fur and wrapped it around a stuffed animal. I cut 6 holes, 3 on top and 3 underneath, then placed pressure bags with a nipple attached through each hole so that when the kittens kneaded it, more milk would flow (at least I think thats what happened, it appeared to work). and then to top it off I took a cellphone and set it to vibrate in a slow rolling pattern and leaned it behind the "mom" to simulate purring. It worked really well.

😍 The smallest of the litter, usually isnt just Small in stature, but also a little immature-behind its littermates developmentally. They dont 'catch on' as fast as the others do, so its necessary to Hand Feed it, Holding its head, while positioning its body- teach it Not to wiggle, to form a proper latch. Newborn orphans can be taught to do this. They are So adorable!

Watching tiny kittens bottle-feeding with their intense focus and moving tiny ears makes me go AWW and melts into a pile of grinning goo. You had a great idea there! Much better and less stressful for the kittens I bet :D

Excellent idea but I think it may have been quicker and easier to have trained them separately as opposed to all the cute chaos of training them as a group. It was like trying to herd a flock of kittens 😂

I don't know what makes you think we were not patient... when they smell the formula they kinda go into a feeding frenzy, they do the same when momma comes in to feed them... the meowing you hear is from them thinking one of their siblings is going to get their nipple! LOL
Like human baby's it takes kittens time to latch on by the tone of your voice it sounds like you were getting stressed
You need to be gentle with them you were hurting them forcing them to adapt to your contraption.

The 30 degree angle at the end is what they needed, so they can knead as they feed, like they would on their mom:the teats are too stuck out to let them knead comfortably otherwise.

You could modify the "fake" mother cat by having the sections for the bottles have more padding around them each to simulate the nipples of a real mother cat for each kitten to push against like they would have done with their real mother.

They’re not asking for anything, they’re animals
The kittens have already marked the Dr nipple. So the want to go back to that nipple. Just put them in and let them figure it out. Watch and make sure everyone eats. If you have one that is having trouble. Let him eat alone.

Deepa Lall, shes not shoving. When they are learning to eat different from what they're used to, kittens are very stubborn little things.

Shes being far gentler than mama is in real life. It seems rough because of the meowing. All that is is baby saying feed me now, like a human baby.

You have completely missed an important part of socialization and bonding by feeding them this way. It’s cruel!
Theres always one, spewing negativity and criticism towards those doing their best to make a difference. This is an extremely efficient way to feed several kittens, not to mention much closer to the way it would be done if mother cat where in the picture! Get over the need to criticize the efforts of others in attempt to make yourself feel smart, and or important! To tthose of us reading your comment, you seem far from either!
