- The stages of a cat bonding. When Milo met Kodi he was so unsure he was scared! He couldn't stay in the same room or even turn his back on him yet Kodi was oblivious to it all haha. Milo took some convincing and he took his opportunities while Kodi was sleeping to approach and sniff him assessing the threat. Once he determined a fellow feline his plans of world domination resumed and now Kodi has been taken under his wing on an intensive bopping course from the stairs as the dogs pass. We'll keep you updated further on the developments but these two are set to be inseparable!
Funny how in a house full of giant dogs, it's the cat Milo who's the toughest introduction for Kodi! 😂 Nothing like some playful hissing to show the new kid who's boss!
Milo's hisses reminds me of Leela when Marshall was introduced. I think at present, they're (L & M) not in good terms yet. Leela is a diva! 😂 🐱🐈

The Best way to introduce a new cat into a cat household is Gradually.
Place new cat in a room and let the cats sniff and play under the door and get acquainted without being threatened.
Some are able to meet quicker in person after several days, some take weeks.
Milo is such a sweetie. So hard for a kitty who initially felt displaced. I see he soon got over it.😂😂
Okay so can we just stop & acknowledge how HANDSOME the kitten is?! Clearly a Maine Coone - one of the most docile, friendly, & non threatening of the kitty breeds. They’re just a very docile breed & make great companions for other animal pets in the home. I’ve had 2 at different times & they’re just so well behaved & kind❤. I hope they’re becoming friends now.

My wife and I did this, but we kept the new baby in a bedroom for week. They would both reach under the door to hit each other's paws until we decided to let her out and everything was fine. I would definitely do it that way again.
Literally, the best way to acclimate them. It makes the transition easier and they get to take their own time doing it.

Cats usually take several days to get accustomed to each other. They'll be best buds eventually.
I don't think the owners intend to be cruel or insensitive, but I think most cat lovers-owners are cringing when they see the animals being held forcibly as Milo was to impose clise contact on the cats. Would any of us welcome intrusion and compelled contact with a stranger in our homes? Animals have feelings of fear and anxiety about strange entities evolved over millenia to protect them. We may recognize that there is no danger in a kitten, but to find Milo's reactions funny without recognizing their source in his need to protect himself and his space is wrong. You are right that even cats who are very hostile upon introduction will adjust fairly quickly. The recommendation from pros is to keep the new cat in a separate room behind a closed door for just a couple of days in order for both old and new pets to get used to each other's smells with a feeling of relative safety. I hope the owner takes this posting down lest other viewers cooy their example.
Or months which was the case with ours. People need to be patient and give equal attention to each cat. The are sensitive to what is going on Eventually they will accept the other cat with time and patience.

My senior cat was the same when we got him a new kitten companion.
She's still a LOT for him to keep up with, but he's decided he must protect her at all costs after a couple months.
Milo is such a beautiful cat. It doesn't surprise me how they reacted to each other as it often takes time for new cat siblings to except one another. In time they'll be the best of friends.

Codi is so confident and has never shown any fear when around Milo. Milo now has a feline buddy.

Milo loves hanging around dog beasts 4 times his size, but takes forever to warm up to being around someone half his size lol
Milo is top dog (tee hee) when it comes to all other pets in the house. Niko and Phil respect him, Teddy tries to test him but Milo always puts him in his place, Buddy likely the same, so really he rules the roost. It just takes him time to adapt to new fluffy family members joining the litter, but he always puts his best paw forward.
Kodi's got a great teacher and older brother.

Milo apparently is a Maine-coon.He is just beautiful.I had one for many years .I adopted him at our local kill shelter.He only had one eye-due to a past sinus infection.All his hair had fallen out from the stress of being surrendered by his previous owner .He had been in the same home for 7 years.When his fur grew back ,he was magnificent. He lived 8 more years and was very dear to my heart .I miss him to this day.😢

Milo was actually perfect.
it usually takes a couple months for the present cat, to accept the new arrival.
He never made any attempt to harm the kitten, and made rapid progress, even though kitten was hissing at him, in accepting him/her.
Milo is absolutely gorgeous, and so is kitten. They will be best friends before you know it!

You're supposed to keep them separated at first, and let them smell each other under the door until they are more accepting of each other. Consult your vet for proper instructions. It seems like Milo is very stressed out over this.

I have to vacuum daily, sometimes three times a day and dust mop in between during shedding. I can’t imagine what you go through hair becomes a part of everything in your life your food your drinks everything as you know if you have any, I don’t use your finger to rub your eye cause it’s always a hair on it, lol !!!!

My 2 cats who are adults but smaller in size did not like my daughter’s orange/white cat when they would visit. They would hiss and carry on and go hide and not come out. For 2 years this been going on, so the vet finally told me to get a plug in thing of pheromones for cats and this last visit was like heaven. Lol the hissing has mostly gone away and they no longer hide. Thank goodness!
The owners just wanted an excuse to show off their beautifully decorated home. I'd love to live in that pad!🏆& the cats are cute too!

Probably they get along better with dogs and other species once they're out of kittenhood.

Are they rag dolls? I was lucky enough to have a kitten that was for my son and trust me he was most definitely the person this kitten loved!! She would run out the front door and meet the bus when he got home from school! We had absolutely no idea that he was 100% allergic to her and she was so, so, so bad on his sinuses and this broke my heart 💔 so very much bc he loved her so very much! He has never gotten attached to another animal other than our Blue Heeler that we had for 16 years who died of cancer 😢! She was all of our hearts!!!!
