If I were getting attacked by someone with a knife, i wouldn't want to take my chances as the odds are too stacked against me.
@StevenE1972 The magic marker knife training method is pretty old school. Paul Vunak was real big into it, they even make fake training knives that have red water based magic marker ink on the blade for this type of training. I have done this type of training before its crazy how bad you get cut. I agree you need to walk before you run as long as you learn to walk and run properly. A lot of these old school knife defense moves we see here go right out the window when you train this way.
I like the beggining of the video. "Anything you want man, just take it easy." and gives the money away. That shows, you should always try to avoid any fight, no matter the money. It's always a risk and the stakes are too high (your life).

And doing that with a knife IS NOT fun. The take down is good, but a disabling strike, a disarm, then a take down is better... which is more of a kali method. EIther way, more disabling a removal of the weapon needs to be involved.

I trained a bit of of this system here in Aurora under a guy named Brian Copeland. Brian Copland is huge on functional strength and conditioning.

When you train isolate a technique/or situation and try it full speed with a non compliant partner. Anything works at slow speed, most things work at half speed, but few things work at full speed. Add non compliance to the mix and less works.

Instructor Aizik is one of the best krav maga teachers around,and Aizik also trains the Israeli commandos. So please dont degrade him since you dont know all that he's accomplished

Krav isn't a mixture of martial arts...it's an original system. It's no more a mixture than Karate is (because it evolved from Chinese systems crossed with Okinawan systems).
I only train realisticly as this is the whole reason of self defence we can both argee on that. I have trained under a full contact setting with knives. Trust me when i say that this technique does work. Maybe not every time, the same as with all systems, but as well as it can when fighting empty handed against someone with a weapon. I can carry on writing that it does work but i feel u would rather see something to prove it. Rather than the videos on here as even i feel they dont look effective
you might want to realize that criminal elements do not follow your ideas of attack... Just because you might not swipe witha toothpick blade does not mean a foolish thief will not. Your convictions control your actions, and every combat scenario is context sensitive...

I have been through this debate a thousand times with edged weapons. I have seen people get seriously cut trying stuff like this. You will fight the way you train...therefore one should train realistically. I have had better results with tactics demonstrated by people like Mike Janich in his Martial Blade Concepts.

Put on a white t-shirt, some eye protection and get a magic marker [To be used as a knife] The attacker armed with the "Knife" should go after the other dynamically and aggressively not slow and almost statically like in this video. People who think they can stop the blade attack are always surprised at the end when they have all kinds of marker "Cuts" all over their arms face and torso. In real life those "Cuts" = Death.

If absolutely necessary, try to disarm the person as efficiently as possible. If it's not altogether necessary, run away!
