  • In this episode of Basic Nigerian History, Dr Catel continues the discussion of the Sokoto caliphate and continues from where we left off back in episode 13.
BNH is going to be like a crash course (or an edutainment series) on Nigerian history using animation and clever commentary in order to educate and entertain. Along the way it will also touch on other parts of West African history.

Despite the comments; this is a refreshingly frank and detailed look (at least from an American perspective) on Nigerian history. I will check out more of your material as I hope to learn if just to engage in more things set in Africa.
Thank you and keep up your work.

I'm African American and Cape Verdean American. Through my dad's side of the family I found out that we still have cousins on the continent, and they are all Fulani. My maternal side of the family I found out I have a few cousins who are all Igbo so far. The family keeps growing as more people take DNA tests. I'm proud to have descended from these people in part.

“Islamic change” no clearly it was forced religion. Also, the Europeans and Islamic slavery was the same. Hence them thinking you can always be a slave. The Islamics were worst than the European slavery. You were bias on this video. I don’t if it is the current climate or your religious loyalty.

@Horror Genes as per the narrator the way slave were treated could be trace back to the first Islamic erra that you can't distinguish between slave and their masters and they rose to the highest political position without any discrimination.
