Yet you call it slow. Some of you just talk for the fun of it. You don't even know what it means. For international standards, the 160km per hour Lagos Ibadan train is a legal competitor anywhere on the continent. That's what international standards mean. Don't use words you don't understand. Even in the US most of their trains are not as fast as this one in particular. The new train Ghana bought that crashed is almost the same speed with the Lagos Ibadan train and that's a new train. Yet you call this one slow. If you think we need a train that's faster than this for intra city rail then you're one sandwich short of a picnic.
looks more like a traveling train from city to city ..than a metro train within a same city BUT in all, it will really decongest Lagos bcos of its 37km stretch routing !!
This looks like just a regular long-haul train. I thought it would be reconfigured much more to reflect its short-haul commuting usage (eg, remove things like the bar car or “kitchen”) but apparently not. In that regard, I also fear the clothed seats would be worn out quickly from heavy daily ridership. Anyway, LASG presumably got these dirt CHEAP (and hopefully they weren’t conned by middlemen), because this particular model’s greatest asset of speed is ill-suited to iusage as a commuter train. Eko o ni Baje! 🎉
Nobody is talking about the speed of the train😂. Congratulations to Nigeria. Lagos has an existing electric train on the blue line and these talgo trains are about to put Nigeria on the map again because these red babies are going to be the fastest trains on the continent, running at 330km per hour. I know they won't be utilizing the maximum speed but at least we've got ourselves a bullet train as well. 😂❤ So from last we jump right to the front. I understand that some think this trains are not designed for this service but to be honest lots of countries redesign trains to suit the operation. You can't tell me we're the first to do it. 😂 And if we're the first then kudos because we just broke another record and will be getting recognition from Guinness soon😂😂. But for real, I'm excited about the train, the interior is calm and cool. It's lovely and kudos to the guys who did rhe redesign because they did well. However I don't see any big deal with the trains because each coach can accommodate 100 passengers and they have ten coaches. While the bkue line coaches can take... I think 150 people but they don't have up to ten coaches but the fact that these trains will serve their purpose is enough to applaud the government abeg ❤❤
It's talgo it has to be. Besides NY's trains have been operating for long. Funny how this master piece was manufactured in 2009. Look at how beautiful it is. I understand that it was redesigned but it's still beautiful. I also don't think the kitchen would be in use.
@@JohnFekoloidI’d rather have so-called “too much freedom” (whatever that’s supposed to mean) than whatever we have in Nigeria - where the Secret Police (DSS) will decide which court order to obey, who will be granted bail, who can protest, which lawsuits are “frivolous”, etc., etc. Anyway, so many people DESERVE their leaders/rulers.

This train is actually meant for long distance travel, but I think it’s the only available option for now, but I will prefer they sell it to the federal government for the Lagos Ibadan rail
I really hope that Lagos state got a good discount on the coaches. This was not built for rapid mass transit. The way it is built, it will incur higher operating cost, hence the discount. If the state did not get a step discount, then it is bad business, but if they did. Kudos to the scouting team, that discovered that. This trains were sitting somewhere in the U.S. not being put to good use.
The talgo trains look amazing. From its design, one can conclude that it’s actually meant for inter state services. and NOT commuter rail services. Well, considering the Lagos population, it’s a good one. The doors should be wider to allow more people enter within a shorter time. Welldone Ozed. It keeps getting better…
The reason why red line coaches has kitchen and toilet is simply because it was initially constructed for long distance travels (inter-state) in USA b4 it was abandoned and Lagos State decided to purchase it for metro purpose.
These trains coaches are meant for interstate travel, this is not supposed to be for municipal commuting. But it looks elegant our people deserves it ….. from USA

Hi guys it's clean but make it so by everyone all commuters pls behave yourself. But the down side is the kitchen area for what! more sittings needed because it's always a short journeying of few minutes not hours to commute more seats more space it's not inter- state should be like the blue line sittings arrangement
Bro, the train was originally made for long haul. Again, you don't compare what was made in Japan, or Spain, for use in the United States to China and for use in Nigeria. Any form of transport system provided in the US are standard...with comfort, safety systems in place and cosy, be it a short journey or not. Sanwo-Olu/Lagos was lucky to have got the Red line coaches on a platter of gold from the US state of Wisconsin. Actually, the train was intended to convey passengers and connect Madison and Milwaukee.
Nice job, but how do you plan to maintain it? Because Nigeria is known for spending a lot but don’t maintain it. I will be impressed in 10 years and the train is still working great like today
The kitchen and toilet wont be used.. the train was originally made for travelling on long trips to other states thats why there is kitchen and toilet in it..
The red line train interior is not as modern looking and pretty as the blue line so it's not appealing to me, However the feature i like is the kitchen and toilet option available, at least that part will come in handy
They should have removed the kitchen and the toilet,so they can fit more seats in those spaces there’s no need for those facilities. Also that siding door, they should remove that too.
Is not yet ready for commercial operation and there are some finishing touch on going And I don't recommend you go today Sunday securities would let you in Is not open for the public yet💚

This is not suited for inter city commuter train. Better use this for extra city operation. The blue line perfectly suited for metro rail operation the way it was designed. But kudos to this achievement. This will give Lagosians comfort and convinience in their teavel.
We are all happy with this, yet we have developed so much hatred to the man that birthted this huge project some decades back. Personally, i do not like him, but i love him as a visionary leader. Some people cried and were still crying that one man had been controlling lagos. He always select who becomes next governor, let assume it is true, but his selection has presented the opportunity for continuity, and what we are seeing today is the dividends of that Continuity. Congratulations, Bola Hammed Tinubu.

This is just my idea I'm not trying to be negative or anything wouldn't it be nice if Lagos state can build apartment building 🏢 and rent it to Lagosian for at least 250k Yearly for a 2 bedroom apartment if they can do that and make the apartment building 🏢 big and build a lot of them I beg it will help the Lagos economy and also provide affordable housing for people and also beautify the environment and get a lot of people off the streets what do you guys think?

This kind of Train is not appropriate for a City Metro line. They need the Blue Line type of Train for a City Train. This kind of Train should be used for traveling intercity! It’s too luxurious for the job it’s supposed to do. A Train for long distance travel🙏
I have a bad feeling about those chairs. This is a metro train that runs within a city. In Europe, metro train chairs are made from plastics or hard material to prevent people from using a knife to vandalize the seats. Cushion chairs are only used for high speed trains that travel between cities as the journey is often longer for comfy reasons. If these soft metro train chairs become vandalized or get torn due to aging, will the Nigerian government be able to maintain it by putting new chairs? Because the Naija govt has this problem of not being capable of maintaining anything so why not put hard chairs that will last longer? This is supposed to be like a metro train system that runs within a city so the kitchen is unnecessary. I don't like the front of the train. It looks like a train from the 1930s. I prefer the blue line's train front. The Lagos government should have suspended the rail tracks above the city like the blue line or fenced the tracks to prevent market hustlers from selling on the rail tracks and prevent children from the slum areas from playing on the tracks. Alternatively the train should have been suspended overhead or made to travel underground within the city..
You are right. Them not being covered with plastic is not a good idea. But they can cover them themselves. ❤The quality could be better. ❤The underground should definitely be done. ❤
i still find it odd that they decided to buy these used talgo trains. there were definitely cheaper new dmus available that are more fitting for metro rapid transit service. anyway they do look really cool

@chincherri I am too good, if you see in reality. This train is Talgo that suppose to run from Wisconsin to Milwaukee. Later, Sanwo Olu go to buy it. But I am glad he end up going to China to order new Metro like the blue line. What is terrible in saying the truth
Why hasn't that happened on the Blue line? You cannot compare the technology or materials that is involved with modern or today's infrastructure with the old days. It's easier to maintain these days so get your mind off Lagos of old
This is the wrong type of train for a metro line. Pity really. The blue line train suits perfectly. Lagos state made a mistake with this one. Thanks for your video.
Why do people watch one video and just conclude on everything. We just have an habit of bad mouthing everything. This is the wrong train. Do you know how long it takes to manufacture a train or do you think trains are like cars? The blue line project started long ago and the train manufacturers already got the contract to manufacture the trains for the rail line. When the red line started they decided to get the available trains as soon as possible to ignite the pace of construction because you can't start building a metro without trains on ground. They got these talgo trains that were previously rejected by the initial bidders because the project was abandoned. They knew that manufacturing new trains for the line will not meet the completion date of construction (as a matter of fact the delivery of the manufactured trains for the red line will come in end of this year) they got these so that operation will start after construction and not that construction will finish and then they'll be waiting for the trains to come. We are so quick to rubbish things in this country. This train is currently the fastest on this continent. It might not utilize it's speed but at least Nigeria is already on the map as the country with the fastest train on the continent which runs at 330km per hour. A nice way to start development of train transportation, taking us from last to first. The blue line has electric trains, the red line operates the fastest train on the continent. See the bright side of things and stop being a sadist abeg.
Complainer, you have no idea how Lagos State got to where it is today as far as the red line is concerned. Learn to appreciate good things when you see one.
@@emmanuelogundipe3328You guys always see valid criticism as complaining because of ignorance. If u know anything about intra city metro then you'll know this is the wrong type of train to use in terms of cost and seating capacity
This is a retrofitted intercity train redesigned for city use. They had no business buying these coaches. They are not designed for metro use. Obviously another deal for the boys!
Yeah well, the trains were readily available and instead of Lagos state government waiting for it's own particular specifications or design they decided to go for this to save time and cost.
Just to update you sir, the trains were bought to start operation as soon as construction finished. If we're to wait for the trains that were manufactured for this particular line, we'll have to wait till end of the year which is why I as a person see this as a good deal. The trains on the blue lines have been available because the construction has started halfway. If you notice you'll realize that they got the trains even before the construction finished (I'm talking of the blue line). However the manufacturing of the trains for the red lines would not meet the schedule for commissioning which is why they went to buy the talgo. They knew it wasn't for metro use but the company reassured that they can be redesigned and that deal was done so that there will be trains available for the project once construction was done. Imagine we're waiting for the trains that are being manufactured, we'd wait till December and then the citizens will say the government don't know what they're doing.
When are we going to start doing things by ourselves. The engineering and construction are carried out by the chinese. This is not a big deal. No president commissions train/coaches except in a clueless country, Nigeria. What we do better than any race is to consume other countries' products.
Stop nonsens, this is state project is a big deal to Lagos and Lagosian , the blue rail and the red rail, lekki deep sea port, lekki free trade zone is the vision and policy when Tinubu when he was a governor and he is invited to open is vision. E day pain u
The president is not coming to commission train coaches. He is coming to commission a Metro line that's operating the fastest train on the continent. We are always quick to rubbish our country. You're saying no president commission train coaches abi? Did you see what Ghana president did? Is he not a President? Just because you think so little of your country you say it's only in Nigeria that this and this happens. This talgo trains are testimony to the fact that even in the US there are abandoned projects because this trains were produced to run along a line in the US but the project was abandoned and we got the trains. Ghana president was over joyous because two coaches of trains were delivered to his country, he was so excited that he asked to drive the trains himself. I'm not saying it's right but stop the attitude of saying things that belittle your country. This only happens in Nigeria, presidents don't commission trains. Our president is commissioning a metro rail project. GHANA president was excited about a two coach train. Check it out, the videos are everywhere. Yet you think your own president is stupid for coming to celebrate the beginning of a change in the country. I suppose you're not current when it comes to train infrastructure and you comment based on hate and mind set of "NOTHING CAN BE DONE RIGHT IN NIGERIA" Do you know how much fuse they made about the Elizabeth line in the U.K it's a under ground metro system, do you know the Queen went to commission it? You just make everything the government do look stupid even if it's good. That's how someone was saying it's the wrong train. At least we got a train and it's not rickety and it can serve it's purpose.
As for the part where you said "when are we going to be doing these things ourselves". What if I tell you that the redesign of this train was done by our engineers here? What if I tell you that thee turnstile machine you tap in to enter the train and the cowry card were made by Nigerians? The contractors on site were Nigerians, we did practically everything ourselves but we can't own all of it because this is rail transportation and for a country that's just reviving the rail sector, I'll say we're doing well. You probably don't know why the Calabar - Lagos rail project is on hold, it's because the Chinese don't want Nigerians to construct the project because they know that if we do, we might not call them to construct for us again which is why they're having issues with signing the deals. China wants Nigeria to give them all the rail construction job in the country and Nigeria is not willing and since China is funding these projects they're trying to have the upper hand. Try not to sound as if we're not making progress, try not to sound as if we're backwards, if you look at Nigeria we're not where we are ten years ago. I'm talking about infrastructure, technological and entertainment wise. Politics is still messy but this country is growing, with or without the government. Don't let the hate for the government become the hate for the country. In case you don't know, one of the best armoured and war vehicle producing companies in Africa is in Nigeria, (Ogun State) the only indigenous automobile manufacturers in Nigeria are amongst the top ten best in Africa and Innoson (in Anambra) is topping that list with Nord (in Lagos) at the bottom. These two manufacturers are not even up to fifteen years yet and they've put out many of those they met in the trade out of business. The ferries used by the Lag ferries services were made by indigenous manufacturers, the patrol boats and some medium size war ships in the Navy were constructed here in Lagos. You're asking when we'll start making these things but we've started. We've started doing things that can reduce our quantity of importation from but as citizens do we want to buy the things made in Nigeria? No! Don't say we don't have it, ask why we are not using it. You made this complain but can you buy any of the Nigerian made cars for yourself? If you can't buy it then you have no right to complain about the country importing things. We've gone far than you can imagine and Nigeria is used to importing things and it will take decades to change that mind set.
Can you guys maintain the train? You will be surprised to find this train becoming a dirty and dangerous equipment in few years time. This is like putting a pig in a well laid bed.
The ones that have been running well for years btw lagos ibadan and btw lokoja and warri etc are working and maintained fine.. have some faith. abi are you a pig?
I'm glad we've finally woken up to the need of having a metro service in Lagos but this trainset is in practical. Wouldn't it have made sense to just put the diesel version of the Blue line EMU's on here, like ones that were test ran last August to replace the initial locomotive pulled/pushed ones on the Abuja Metro (see video 'FCT Minister Takes A Train Ride From Abuja Metro Station'), I mean c'mon. Let's hope what was bought recently from the Chinkos is more appropriate.
I'll check the video out honestly I don't know what to say but with what I'm seeing at stations the redline is massive let me finish touring the stations then we'll have a glue on what's going on

Very excellent moves, had such facilities been put in place, things would have been different and Nigerians would not been too angry, let's hope that politicians have learned a thing or two
For me I believe Lagos is trying their best from day one
Hey guys quick one tips the train sittings will be overall re-configure purposely to move people in hundreds /thousands commuters back and forth it's mere intral-city services like the blue line model just a hop in & out trip doesn't need kitchenettes stuffs and what have you
in the subsequent videos will be showing you the train stations

Our prayer
This will be the first city metro line in the world with a kitchen inside..... it's because it was actually built for travelling long distance between cities.... anyway, its a nice and interesting feature in the train...
We should be expecting recognition from Guinness soon 😂 the train is also the fastest on the continent so that's double record for us 😂
Yes it was actually for the USA cities
@@emmanuelogundipe3328 It is slow by international standards, it is a step forward but we have along way to go.
@@victortoba-ogunleye4056 Always bad mouthing things. Do you know what slow by international standards means or do you just want to discredit them? This train is currently the fastest train on the continent. If you don't know, don't say. At 330km per hour. It's too fast for an intra city rail and is obviously for inter State travel. Yet you call it slow. Some of you just talk for the fun of it. You don't even know what it means. For international standards, the 160km per hour Lagos Ibadan train is a legal competitor anywhere on the continent. That's what international standards mean. Don't use words you don't understand. Sometimes it's better to remain silent than to embarrass yourself.
@@victortoba-ogunleye4056 Calling the fastest train on the continent slow because it's here in Nigeria is ridiculous. If Egypt had bought it you all will be comparing Nigeria to Egypt and asking why we don't own something like that. Now that we have it you're saying it's slow compared to international standards.
Honestly it will really decongest traffic
I learnt that each coach can take 100 people and each train has ten coaches
I think it’s because it’s for both. The redline also leads to the Lagos-Ibadan line so I think that’s why.
@@Willow-cw9te it's not for both. It's just for the Metro. The track will be shared, not the trains.
@@emmanuelogundipe3328 that’s what I said, it’s for both
This looks like just a regular long-haul train.
I think 150 people but they don't have up to ten coaches but the fact that these trains will serve their purpose is enough to applaud the government abeg ❤❤
obviously the government has done well this time
peter obi did this ... nice one and kudos to him
SMH 😂😂😂
Which Peter Obi are you talking about
Abeg I no get teeth ooo😂😂😂
Yes ooo!!! 😂😂😂
He planned it for Lagos while he was the Governor of Anambra for 8 years. His thought process was, it would be too much for Anambra 🤣
It’s beautiful, finer and neater than New York’s Trains
🥰🥰🥰
It's talgo it has to be. Besides NY's trains have been operating for long. Funny how this master piece was manufactured in 2009. Look at how beautiful it is. I understand that it was redesigned but it's still beautiful. I also don't think the kitchen would be in use.
New York"s problem is that their Freedom. Too much American freedom is worrying the people. That's why their trains are now bad.
That’s because it’s a regular long-haul train and not a commuter train.
They should include a toilet as well ❤in all other rails coach❤its beautiful the passenger seat should not be facing each other the flooring is good 👍🏽
i love the floor
This train is actually meant for long distance travel, but I think it’s the only available option for now, but I will prefer they sell it to the federal government for the Lagos Ibadan rail
The redline is on the same line as Lagos-Ibadan
I really hope that Lagos state got a good discount on the coaches. This was not built for rapid mass transit. The way it is built, it will incur higher operating cost, hence the discount. If the state did not get a step discount, then it is bad business, but if they did. Kudos to the scouting team, that discovered that. This trains were sitting somewhere in the U.S. not being put to good use.
Lagos got the red line coaches cheap when they were acquired.
If your state doesnt have this blame your Governor not mr President!!
Eko oni baje, Lagos can Tax me more for this good work...
I'm impressed honestly. I kind of like it compared to the blue line train 😂
The reason why red line coaches has kitchen and toilet is simply because it was initially constructed for long distance travels (inter-state) in USA b4 it was abandoned and Lagos State decided to purchase it for metro purpose.
and thats the problem u should get trains that move every minute every second not luxury trains around town how long will it last
We should buy trains from countries with good metros like Japan, China, UK, France, Poland, e.t.c not the USA
These trains coaches are meant for interstate travel, this is not supposed to be for municipal commuting. But it looks elegant our people deserves it ….. from USA
Based on what I see from the mode of arrangement the redline is something like never before in Nigeria
Stay tuned I will update u guys on what the stations look like shortly
Love from 🇳🇬 🇳🇬
@taifiq
I gathered the red line will run between stations in Ogun State and stations in Lagos State. So theoretically, it will run interstate.
Kudos to Chinese Govt on this great achievement for Nigeria and AFRICA.
All State Govt should engage with China's Belt and Road Initiative to develop their individual state Infrastructures
Lagos state funded the project, Chinese built it. So it's not free.
shoutout to China for Helping out! There is an immense lot Nigeria can learn from China! God Bless Nigeria God Bless China!
It a train built by a Spanish company in Wisconsin USA.
It is not a Chinese train. Lagos State funded it. The Chinese constructed the track.
The red line seems to be suited for interstate transport and the blue line is intrastate.
Remember that the train carriage was built for something else in the USA but never got used in the end, before it was sold to the Lagos State Government

It looks better than the Chinese train.
Great work. alot of effort. Next time you may need to engage those who have more accurate info about the train. content has some misleading info. but in general, Kudus
Thank you sir...I appreciate the recommendation
Lagos will definitely start one big power generating station in alliance with other western states that will serve the entire western region before the end of Tinubu administration .... I believe they must be working on this ,.....we can't depend on federal government anymore,..... And it will be stupid to defer this till any other person become president .... this is the right time
What is the need for a kitchen in a municipal train services?
Lagos and lbadan should team up and put a rapid train services on Lagos lbadan rails so that every hours schedule travelling can set the roads flow for ever.
There’s already a train going from Lagos to Ibadan daily and it has started operation since 2020.
I was wondering how they were going to convert the former inter city train would be converted
Your comment is all over the place, are you for or against this trainset being used for metro (Rapid Transit) purposes?
The us transport system is laughable and not even good
thank you
It’s incredible considering that it’s just commuter rail…. It looks like it’s for outta state travel.
Two trains originally intended for a high-speed rail line to connect Madison and Milwaukee are headed for lagos Nigeria.
Why couldn't the governor order the metro trains brand new in Europe. Hmmm intesting pick for metro train
Among the train coaches did they have different class like regular and gold class like the type they have in dubai
Dubai is too much! Africa has a lot of gold but the people needs here are different than that of Dubai. Their history is different. ❤
No everything is the same Atleast for now
this train is actually for long distance it's just been converted to metro train
Seat belts?
Nice job, but how do you plan to maintain it? Because Nigeria is known for spending a lot but don’t maintain it. I will be impressed in 10 years and the train is still working great like today
everyone will be impress let's be positive Atleast the Blueline is doing amazing
The kitchen and toilet wont be used.. the train was originally made for travelling on long trips to other states thats why there is kitchen and toilet in it..
Let's see what happens when it begins commercial operation
The red line train interior is not as modern looking and pretty as the blue line so it's not appealing to me,
However the feature i like is the kitchen and toilet option available, at least that part will come in handy
they are both unique in their on own way..but I reason with you 💯✔✔
Is this red line train function nw.or it have not because since it was commissioned.i don't understand
In few hours from now I'll update you guys on the redline
They should have removed the kitchen and the toilet,so they can fit more seats in those spaces there’s no need for those facilities. Also that siding door, they should remove that too.
Trust me, you want toilets in the trains 🔥
I want to go check it todayy. But you didn’t share ticket info and departure info. Please reply as soon as possible

That is the plan and the Governor mentioned it in one of his visits.

Why are we using long haul tarins for shoet trips within the city? That's an over investment. There would have been more seats per person of regular shirt shuttle train was procured.
They can run a business unside it like snacks and tea since it gets a kitchen

We are all happy with this, yet we have developed so much hatred to the man that birthted this huge project some decades back. Personally, i do not like him, but i love him as a visionary leader.
Some people cried and were still crying that one man had been controlling lagos. He always select who becomes next governor, let assume it is true, but his selection has presented the opportunity for continuity, and what we are seeing today is the dividends of that Continuity.
Congratulations, Bola Hammed Tinubu.
Good trains but not suited for intra city metro services. Blue line trains are better.
If uve been abroad ull know how important dis train will be for the lagosian lagos is a big city in fact big enough to be a country on its own so this train will definitely boost the economy of the state. Don't get me wrong i agree with u my point is it will be an alternative to the blue line just like subway in europe
They won't watch the "News" but stick to one video to draw conclusions. Go and listen to what the governor said about the seating arrangement last year.

Having mixed feelings about this project. While it is a laudable project, will it be maintained? Look at the BRT buses they are in a terrible state.
let's be positive 💚💚
Maybe they will build better ones in the future. It's just the beginning. ❤
These trains haven't been used before, they are practically new
These are new trains.
They’re brand new!

Why hasn't that happened on the Blue line? You cannot compare the technology or materials that is involved with modern or today's infrastructure with the old days. It's easier to maintain these days so get your mind off Lagos of old
No, the Lagos to Ibadan train has been running since Covid and is well maintained. I bet your state trains are not functioning.
This is the wrong type of train for a metro line. Pity really. The blue line train suits perfectly. Lagos state made a mistake with this one. Thanks for your video.
Thank you 🤩
Why do people watch one video and just conclude on everything.
Negative people only see mistakes in everything life itself is black and white

Negativity galore .
Aye n se yin ... You will always complain
When are we going to start doing things by ourselves. The engineering and construction are carried out by the chinese. This is not a big deal. No president commissions train/coaches except in a clueless country, Nigeria. What we do better than any race is to consume other countries' products.
When we stop being indisciplined THIEVES, then we can start trusting ourselves to do a good job
