this was 8 years ago!! where's the freakin' consumer product???????
Overpopulation of humans is the concern.
they did say bill and melinda gates foundation.
Just listen to what they say in the video... Being able not only to recognize different species of insects, but also to tell apart male from female based on their wing flaps? With cheap consumer-grade electronics? Really? This alone made it unrealistic.
A fun fact - talking about infrared laser beam and showing a violet (probably supposed to be ultraviolet) one... Nope, sorry, this video is definitely not believable to me.
It just makes for good entertainment...
Because Buzzbomb actually, most CMOS chip camera sensors can 'see' infrared light. Usually it shows up in the image as a reddish purple color. You can see this for yourself with your cell phone and TV remote control. Point your camera at the diode at the front and push a button. You should see the led flash in the video, but it will be invisible if you look at it yourself.
I think if someone made a feature length film of mosquitoes getting blasted in slow motion, I'd sit and watch it all the way through.
+DarthSinistris
I think I'd even pay to see it if it was in 4K resolution
+DarthSinistris Exactly my thoughts :D
DarthSinistris And we will be expecting part 2 .3 and 4
It will be awesome!
Who ya gonna call?
*_THE SLOW MO GUYS!!!_*
It's 5 years now. sell us these devices already!
Gogol ginn I'm from 2050. The laser gun is still missing.
Gogol ginn Exactly what I thought.
+Gogol ginn Yes man i would buy it even if it costs $100 !!
+Life on loan HAA lol
6 years*
Its now 2018 and I still see mosquitos
Ronald Allan Rupuesto The feminists in the world revolted and put an end to the project that targets just the females
they stopped worrying about saving the human race and instead funded media and campaigns to slowly kill us all.
poor mosquitos. They are so nice
We still need them for our eco system
I have a solution to your problem simply close your eyes and you won't see mosquitos
14 years later. Dont mind where's the product, but the quality of this video is above par than majority of youtube videos available today
WHY ARE WE NOT FUNDING THIS?!
too busy funding malarya care
J wtf does Trump have to do with this?
Because Bill Gates already paid for it?
Santiago Saldivar is much rather take away funding from our military for this. And I'm very pro military keep in mind.
CUZ ITS DUM
The north korean air defense looks good.
Zacharias wålander was bleach Wålander oo00o000000oooo00
😂
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAHAAHHAHA
Yeah
US can easily conquer North Korea, they are so easy
People should focus more on amazing technology like this that can actually save lives and stop irritating itching. This should be mass produced in electronic markets
In the end, it was proved to be fake. The tool never existed in the real world.
Shut up and take my money
afonya83 xD
never a more spot on accurate meme
afonya83 😂 I agree
Finally we got a device what the world mostly needed.
And take ur Vision cause this just might blind you
I just came here to see mosquitos suffer and I was very pleased
They want to be treated like the Supreme Beings(Humans) they can suffer like Us as well
Anything that kills mosquitoes is fine with me.
Electronically makes it better. I’d like to see them get zapped!
i hope they mount these lasers on tiny f22 looking robots
Something similar has been already done.
Mini dogfights
yay juiws oooh id love to see that
Ohh that'd be awsome
(4 years later) every time i get bitten by a mosquito I fantasize about something like this. A flock of tiny dragonfly-sized drones that you just toss into the air whenever you want to go on a hike in a bad place. Sadly the closest tech there is to this is Harvard's robotic fly thingy from ages ago, which still lacks a proper portable battery.
"THE ONLY GOOD BUG, IS A DEAD BUG!"
And bees don't forget the bees
@@theinfinite855 Meh, kill them all. The bug god knows what are his.
It's a good day to die... for us humans, apparently. I think they'd spent the Bill Gates grant moneys on afterparties following their TEDx lectures & moved on to other rackets.
Reprogram it to shoot down flies, wasps and Mosquitos and il buy 2 of them!!!
I'm not trying to make them extinct
I just want them away from my house
You really are a moron
Just because they are away from us doesn't mean they will become extinct
They can go places where humans are not located
+MadeAUsername u do know that mosquito also feed off other animals right?
MadeAUsername It is almost impossible for pests like mosquito or files to go extinct or be totally exterminated as long as they don't solely feed on humans. So don't worry any ecosystems being affected.
MadeAUsername Forgive me for my ignorance, would kindly enlighten me about what ppl say about extinct animals? While u are at it pls tell me what's your point clearly coz i don't wanna mistook your words.
I live in southeast Texas, you'd need a death star to make an impression on the pterygotes 'round these parts.
They swarm up out the marsh lookin like smoke, till you drive your truck through that "smoke" and straight to a car wash because you can't see anymore.
HEAVYWALL 70 I know the exact horrors you are speaking of. Sabine Pass, Port Arthur, Port Neches, Nederland, Orange, Bridge City, Beaumont, ect. Step outside and instantly feels like you have been ambushed, I seen em one time they were takin off with my dog and I had to go save her before she was drug off into the woods, poor thing.
No longer do I ever leave her outside unattended.
i wish i could see that, i want to see mosquito getting smashed and destroyed.
HEAVYWALL 70. Deathstar😅
Lumberton, Tx here. Opened the back door a few minutes ago to check out the rain, and two landed on my arm. Savages!
Haha. Lighthouse size laser!
My only question is...could these be set up to make a Moonraker laser sound when they fire? A Star Wars blaster would be a nice alternative.
I'm sure lol
Tetsuron lmao
Know that might scare them away make it nice and quiet
that would be extremely annoying for us who hate star wars.
Or have an ‘ED209’ warning for the mosquitoes (from the original robocop film) “please put down your weapon, you have 20 seconds to comply”
12 years now
2018 and still no device.
We need this
Haha
As someone who lives in tropical conditions, SELL ME THIS!! ILL BUY AT HIGH PRICE!
"Imagine killing mosquitoes with a laser gun"
-Some random person in 19xx
Imagine killing male mosquitoes
If you visit this video 12 years later and wonder why it isn't a thing. IV decided to become patent trolls instead of making a positive change in the world. It was more profitable.
Mosquito Anti-Aircraft
1990:
In 2021, we will have laser weapons.
2021:
This is 2019 was just wondering what happened to the project? Where the products?
Is dead lol
bzigo, they’re probably the front runners of this project.
it's 2017. We NEED this.
Thanks for sharing! Mosquitoes transmit some of the worst diseases known to man, including dengue fever, malaria, encephalitis, and yellow fever.
In the end, it was proved to be fake. The tool never existed in the real world.
I always do my best to let Flies, ants and mosquitoes suffer as much as possible
13 years ago and still no consumer version! I want it now!
I'm researching this for agriculture as alternative to pesticides. How do I get permission to use 5-10 sec of this clip in my presentation? These 2 minutes are what inspired me after all.
I wonder how much this would cost. If every home owner had one of these I think it would make a significant difference.
From what I've read about it, the blueprint is only like $50 and the components are only a few dollars at any electronic supply store
In the end, it was proved to be fake. The tool never existed in the real world.
why such gadget never exists?
This was most likely impossible to make 15 years ago.
You'd need high res high frequency ir cameras and enough computer power to handle that influx and perform image recognition. A good computer from 2010 could definitely do that, but I really doubt anything handheld had the power to do it. Costs would have been prohibitive as well (even today the cameras would probably cost a lot of money)
But maybe nowadays it could be made ...
I imagined this laser mosquitoes firing device in my 20s, now it's becoming a reality. Wow.
Please bring these devices to Florida ASAP.
IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS NOW! SEND US THESE DEVICES!!!
i swear to god if there's somebody defending fucking mosquitoes in this comment section
Beeerd found one.. losing hope on humanity
Why isn't PETA all over this? lol
Because of all the people to ever have lived and died most of them were killed by mosquitoes spreading disease. It's like how you can justify killing people in brutal ways in a game because they're Nazis.
PETA can go jump in a swamp full of malaria carrying mosquitoes and let them drink kool-Aid.
but they're not human. Hell, I doubt they can feel emotions even close to mammals can, with the size of their brain.
Because, even PETA hates Mosquitos, #LETTHEMDIE!
I think even PETA does'nt care about Mosquitoes
The only good mosquito was the de Haviland DH.98 Mosquito.
Malsy Pright
nice reference.
Aaah mosquitos..
My nemesis
So like can we get an update on this? When can I buy one? Its been 13 years and I'm STILL GETTING BIT BY MOSQUITOS!
They should come out with a consumer version! it would fly off the shelves!🙂
I would love to buy this
So, this will kill a mosquito if it just happens to fly directly into the path of the beam? This is cool and all, but I do not see how this is going to kill enough mosquitos to make any difference. I think your typical bug zapper would kill as many if not more; unless this thing can focus and target in a large area.
They haven't released it to the public yet because they're waiting to train other bugs to wear a smaller version of the laser and have tiny dogfights with the mosquitos
Backyard mosquito laser: *Bloodsucker is in range*
Me: "You may fire hwhen ready."
Available at toys r us......
i got excited looked at the date of the video and got dissapointed
Mosquite killing laser....just take my money
You telling me 9 years ago we had auto shooting lasers with cameras capable to detect female mosquitoes ? What do we have now ?
Where is this product???? This came out 8 years ago, it must be here by now?! Even if it is a futile war, I still want my laser mosquito zapper!!

Burn baby burn, mosquito inferno! Built with parts from consumer electronics, eh? Wonder if they'd release the plans...

Don't let the males live either.
They did nothing wrong tho. 😕
D lucky#7's They could easily evolve into biting and disease and death and too late and all over again
"Not just the men but the women and children too"
@@dlucky7s456 Yeah, they do, they reproduce more b*tc*s against Humans!!
Watching this while surrounded by mosquitoes.
they should make a clip-on version for people for insect defense
There is draw back in this systems because the laser not only shoot mosquitoes but is a danger to human as well. What if the stray laser beam hit the human eye by accident.
Yup, but given that the whole system focuses its attention on a very specific pattern before striking (shooting down only female mosquitoes), I reckon accidents of this kind are going to be overwhelmingly unlikely.
And also, surely we can warn the end user to shut down the device before passing its lines of defense to be safe.
So this was 5 years ago. When can we buy it?
Apparently its progressing, but it's super slow. At least it's not dead! :D
So basically it's an AA (anti-aircraft) device for mosquitoes
Was in my recommendeds 11 YEARS LATER
MaasyaAllah.. Al-Baqarah : 26

Heck yeah! One for every room! It's like the new light bulb. One for every room! You can't live without it.
Make sure you install them in eye height.
SHUT UP AN TAKE MY MONEY
I hate mosquitoes. There are plenty in my backyard. First the days shift flies, then the night shift arrive, the mozzies. Grrrr!
I don't care how it works just as long as they feel the most pain possible. 😂
I wish I could have had this device a few years ago when I killed 10 mosquitoes in 1 night. Can't get any sleep when I know that these useless sacks of shite are around. Gotta say it makes you feel a bit like Highlander though. In the end, there can be only one.

Goddamn you are cringy.
And people still believe in the ARK, and the earth was flooded !!! and 2 mosquito's ware saved !!!
andy roswell insects survived, in the egg form just like they do now in harsh winters floods, fires. and as the seeds the regrow plants trees, flowers and so on. but you won't believe anyhow as atheists are always trying to find a way to prove your choice in this life and eternity.
And you had to make this statement after watching mosquitoes die by freakin' lazer beams.....
Oh my god watching this is so satisfying
I have this thing called skeeder syndrome where mosquitos LOVE me and they give me HUGE bumps. I love this video.
It depends on how long the exposure is, where the laser hit them and the power of the laser.
If their skin is only exposed to a 100mW beam for less than a second, they would feel a small bit of warmth where the laser hit them.
If this was a +500mW laser, they would instantly feel a very sharp pain on their skin.
If the person gets the laser in their eye, even for a split-second, they will likely immediately suffer permanent injury to the retina. Google "hit in eye with 1W laser".
Why are you talking about people? This video was talking about a machine that zaps mosquitoes with a laser as it flies by...
@@geraldwatts5492because people can get accidentally hit while the system is in operation...imagine if a bunch of mosquitoes is buzzing around u and laser beams pulsing everywhere

11 years passed I am still waiting for this product
Cod bug ops
Who’s here because they hate mosquitoes
All the sane Ppl
It’s been 10 years and they’re still not selling this?!?!?
I can see why this isn't available in the consumer market, you weaponise this and you have the iron beam defensive system.
it's about as strong as a blue laser pointer. There is no way to "weaponize" this.
They need to adapt this to a system you put on a pole and zaps in 360 degrees to exterminate mosquitoes selectively. The only effective products I can find kill everything which limits how often I'd use. I even have a mesh screen just big enough to only catch mosquitoes at times of the year when pollinators would be present at the expense of removing as many mosquitoes.
I would like to add a sound effect. Of the death star firing and the sound of a planet blowing up. Very satisfying.
This laser is more accurate than the snipers in red light green light
11 years later and I'm still interested.
Friend: There's a mosquito sucking your blood!"
Me: Don't worry
*Turns laser on*
*BOOM*
*mosquito dead*
That thing would be puttin in some serious overtime zappin misquitoes around my house.
13 years on, Bill took a hit on this tech.
It is so satisfying to see these annoying mosquitoes get lasered at all!
8 years later and it's still new
nothin feels better to horridly torture mosquitoes in such agonizing ways
THE WORLD NEED THIS UNDER EVERY ROAD OR STREET LIGHTS
Let me know when they have the commercial version out, I want it, I need it.
Heck, it’s 8 almost 9 years and this tech hasn’t even been released to the public yet :(
the reason is not hard to imagine: because of the security and safety concern such a laser beam gadget ain't out yet.
Can’t believe this is still not available
Enjoyed this snippet. Especially the moes getting sniped by fricken lasers!
Laser Pest Sentry - Next Gen Bug Exterminator
Where can buy? We all need this system. We've been waiting a very long time
Imagine your house shooting all insects trying to enter it with lasers
This laser is the Cyberpunk of a much needed household item.
In 2018 we are using LLT(light laser turret) to zap mosquitoes.
I am so glad.
If the male mosquitoes were identified and sterilized in flight you would have a exponential result due to the effects non-fertilization.
