@rolandhirons1940 lots of things to do at this time of the season and I salvage what I can so I can spend some money on the things that we can't find. If gardener's want to spend lots of money to grow food I certainly don't have a problem with that. Thank you for taking the time to comment I do really appreciate it.
If you buy in all your compost and get all your water from the tap you're not a gardener, you are a narcissist. Thanks for ruining the planet for the rest of us so you can enjoy your horticultural atrocity of a garden, Ronald. This guys setup is very sustainable and should be the norm. Whoever inherits his plot will count themselves very lucky.
Learned more off Terry than any other channel. I don't garden in the same way but his patient tutorials can be worked into my own system very easily. Stick around you will learn so much for your own plot.
I’ve learned from Terry to get up the fall leaves and whatever else and use as compost for the next season. I don’t have all the bays he has but i stick them in black garbage cans that would have gone to a landfill had i not repurposed them. Plus they look neat and tidy.
Hi Terry, I'm happy to hear Mrs.K is keeping you moving in the right direction God Bless you both ❤🙏 ❤️ I'm happy with taking time to make compost. Take care Terry ❤Peggy❤
if you shred those leave Terry you will get 20 of those sacks into a single 1 cubic meter bin. in that area you get around 50 of those bags when shredded and only about 20% shrinkage after that by the time the leaf mold is made
@simplifygardening the logistics of getting a mower to the trees is out of the question, but shredding them near the plot may work, definitely need to do something to make things easier, cheers Tony.
Hi Terry, I left a comment but it disappeared… I think I must have accidentally left it on the video following yours on the algorithm 😮, just to say I enjoyed the video and continue trying to collect leaves but most have blown of the trees by now. All the best to Mrs K, hope you are both keeping spirits up ❤
Great leaf haul, Terry. I stopped by my leaf depot today and it's filled with everyones autumn leaves again. I'll be using to top all my beds after we mow them up.
Since watching your videos after i got an allotment ive been collecting leaves and seaweed in autumn but limited space means i cant collect as much as id like. Love to mrs K and yourself sir.
You’re certainly getting a great workout collecting all those beautiful leaves Terry, the worms are going to love all those. Do you water them with anything or add any horse muck ? I find this time of year is quite busy on the allotment with chopping down all the old vegetation and mixing the compost up, well worth all the effort though for the black gold in a years time 🪱🪱🪱 Best wishes, Lisa
@lisag9493 I did try adding materials with the leaves, but it made it difficult to sift so leaves on their own, if I had more time an old mower would come in handy to shred them up.
I don't think you gave many worms a headache with the pat down! It's good to get the leaves up before the rains set in, Terry. Wishing you and Mrs K well ❤️ ~ Sandra
Phew thats a work out well done wish we had that amount of leaves around here , most trees here are pine and they chopped them all down 2 year's ago they where great for the blueberries👍
@elizabethjames1053 the trees have got much bigger and this fall we have had no wind so they are still under the trees and I haven't had to chase them up the road......🤣
Looks great Terry. The soil is so good! And such pretty leaves. I wonder what Skylar would do with them! Doing the same here - filling dumpy bags and leaving them in the compost bin that we aren't using. Not as cosy as your leafy area (very impressive) but it is dry. Cheers!
@kerryl4031 hi Kerry, yes Skylar loves the leaves, but always leaves a present.......🤣🍁🍂. 15 bags so far and some leaves are bit closer so only 2 bags a day......my body said no on Sunday.......🤣.
Pace yourself Terry. Little and often. I bet you wouldnt mind putting your feet up after that unless, Mrs K keeps you on your toes laugh. Great colllecting so many leaves. It all adds up in the end into quality compost. Pity about your kohlrabi. Massive nontheless. Elaine 👍👍 ps, im feelin' it today after yesterday's graft. Why do I do it ? 😆

@@terrykingsallotmentgardening yes we have about 4 inches up here mate lol ,as for news we got there last wed to be told the results weren't in so we got to go tomorrow, worrying is of the scale mate ,but we will face it together and hope its not spread ,appreciate you asking mate thank you 😊, o and a good night's gritting mate well done 👍
Watching you empty the leaves reminded me of exercises we used to do for keeping our small waist……but Terry you need to work both sides turn the barrow round so can alternate…..sorry but I did think by gum he’ll have a nice waistline after that.
Hi Terry, I love making compost from fallen leaves. I have read on other people's blogs that they are collecting leaves from the roadside, but I have always been told never to use roadside leaves because of possible contamination. What do you think about that?? ❤
@madeleineowen8284 the area that I collect isn't too busy with traffic so not too much of an issue with fumes, but the trees remove pollutants so I personally don't have an issue. Ideally the trees need to be in the middle of a field away from normality. Hope that helps.
My nana used to say no rest for the wicked 😂 but then she’d never met you. I get tired just watching you work 💪. But then again it’s pouring rain here so I’m catching up on videos. Hope Sandra did well today ❤, Ali 🥶🌧️🌧️🇨🇦
Just had a week off work. 1 large compost bin emptied, 4 turned, 2 of which should be ready in spring. One bin filled with shredded leaves, grass clippings, old plants from the raised beds and wood chip, and one full of leaves. 8 raised beds tidied, wildflowe garden strummed and raked. Going back to work for a rest!
Talking to the worms now 🙂 its when you think they answer back you have to worry! Its surprising how much it compacts down over time and makes suck lovely material
Hey Terry 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 Can you just use leaf mould on its own to grow things in or do you have to mix it with something else? You work too hard Mr king. You must remember you are not a spring chicken anymore...😊 I can't push a wheelbarrow too far, I have one arm longer than the other and keep going round in circles 😂🐮🐮🐮
@mandamoosgardeningadventur8305 seeds will grow fine in leaf mould on it's own, but adding other ingredients will help our main crops grow, remember new compost has added amendments so we do the same with our spent compost. Reminds me of the magic roundabout, round in circles.
first time seeing vlog expecting an allotment but looks more like a salvage yard and most things free not like us normal gardeners very disappointed

@oddsocksgrowing I wouldn't say hard work, but time consuming and yes we need to keep our money in out pockets.

@peggyhelblingsgardenwhatyo7920 yes you can see the difference in time and harvest it when you know its going be beneficial to our growing spaces.

@SEBZED86 I have two allotment's and it's well worth having areas for storing and making compost and our home made liquid plant foods.
