I would say that Nack (and Divino) have always had a deeply experimental edge that sets them apart from others in the "coke rap" camp. Nack seems to excel over more abstract and dissonant productions, so I would guess that alot of the "weirdness" of the album comes from WSG trying to engage with Nacks already established universe. I like that West blends that with the signature Griselda grimey and loop based tracks so it maintains the feeling of a classic Griselda project, while also being something very new. Salute!

I would agree King, but can Nack really be fly? I'm sorry but I've never seen him with an expensive messenger bag like the Big Homie Wess. And if he did wear one it would look a bit like putting a rubber band on a boiled and peeled egg, nah mean? I mean, I like the music but I'm more into it when they product is presented like the Big Homie Wess!!! Like those thigh high boots made out of road kill and some white stockings and AT LEAST one brand like Chanel or Fenti, nah mean? It's 2023 we've moved on from masculinity , that's the only thing we NOT bringing back from the 90's nah mean??? Big Griselda we in here live from the streetz.

And, for history's sake, divino used to be down with Mach & Fahim, and they were on his Dump Gawd divino edition....but a rift got caused around him dropping edition 2 "without their approval" or something along those lines. So, their "griselda" roots go way back. Divino and Starker also did the art for Peace Fly God, which goes back thru divino and WSG's history. So. This shit was a long time in the making, love the reviews professor!

16:19 It’s definitely an ode to legendary Dominican jazz musicianship with the 5/4 meter of the music. Literally NOBODY is doing that. Estee Nack is a GAWD.
24:27 This is a continual popularly referenced song in Dominican music / Pop music. I believe the last few times it was “popular” was with DJ Laz & Danny D’s, “Mami El Negro” in the 1990’s and another decade or so later repopularized/interpolated by Pitbull in the 2000’s with “The Anthem” ft. Lil’ Jon. The theme and lyrics of the original, “El Africano” by Wilfrido Vargas have always been a source of controversy due to its dark yet somewhat accepted content.
36:52 Yes. “Blood” (Red) gang members usually omit “C”’s in their vocabulary and replace them with a “B”. The opposite can be said for “Crip” (Blue) gang members with the letters “B” omitted because of its affiliation with “bloods” and in some “crip” gangs, the letter “K” because of its relation to the phrase “Crip Killa”.

Glad that you're getting into Nack-mandela! Looking forward to the album - so far I've only heard the track with WSG and love it... there's a TON of stuff he's put out in recent years, both solo, with al.divino and others.
He's a great addition to the Griselda crew. His work is even stranger than your usual GxFR stuff. The first _Triple Black Diamonds_ with al.divino is a great start cause it's relatively straight forward boom-bap. The recent _Part 2_ shows how far out they've gone. The (other) recent album with V Don is amazing.
_Abrakadabra Alakazam_ is an underground classic!!
PS. I love your whole future plans for Tucker Carlson, Griselda-related... AND OTHERWISE! 🤣🤦‍♂️

if the album sounds weird to you production wise it’s cause nack is far more abstract than your traditional griselda rappers. gunn tried to cater to nack’s sound thru his lens and did a pretty good job in the process. idk if you’ll ever dive into nack’s discography but most of his stuff is pretty far out there.
PS - he said in a song back in 2018 he took his first steps in 85. so he’s not embarrassed about his age as he’s never hid it. (he’s also not a fan of the red sox, patriots or the celtics lol iykyk)

The first time I heard Estee Nack was on Banana Yacht by Westside Gunn off HWH7, which was also my first Griselda project. That track was such a perfect intro to his music. The lack of drums, the loops, the bars, the cavernous adlibs, I remember thinking “I need to check this guy out after I listen to more Gunn.” At the time, I did not know just how long it would take to listen to even a fraction of all the music WSG puts out.
The opener on this track was a perfect re-introduction to Estee Nack. The production is just insane. No drums, absolutely minimal sample, just pure in-your-face rapping. The production is such a great match for his style. I’ve been bumping this for like a week straight.

BRAP had so many styles and all of nacksaw was just dusty boom bap drums or drumless and it just got repetitive by the end of the record, was a solid attempt nonetheless

It was an American success, exactly what America wanted from and for the inner cities and the power dynamics of factions in the Central American political theater at the time it was unleashed. What they didn’t and couldn’t predict was the actors that would rise and fall in that region years after and poor Sarah from the ladies golf team and student govenment’s unfortunate descent into addiction and prostitution.
