I almost cried watching her performance because the song it means so much more when you see colors with it. If I had that gift I’m not sure I would have wanted it any other way.
I heard this topic on BrainStuff and mentioned that it is not a disorder but a normal trait of those who have it. It has so much advantages and annoying disadvantages such as tasting an awful food or hating a name coz it's associated with a disgusting thing(synesthete perception). It's not always a positive thing to have it coz they experience it's down sides as well. But I still think that it's kinda awesome to have such trait. Hope this makes sense. 😊
Joy Jimenez yes I agree. I am blessed only experiencing the benefits of it like remembering stuff easily but it still blows my mind every day when I realise that I feel/see something new and I haven't yet noticed even though it's been like that since I've been little 🤗
I did not know that Pharrell Williams has this and it makes perfect sense because he makes such awesome music and doesn't even think of it, he only makes the music because it sounds, looks and feels good and he says that the people are who make the music and make him an artist because they are the ones that buy the music. I think it is a great quality to have for musical artists such as Hova as well.
I loved her performance. However, I wish they would cover other forms of Synesthesia or at least mention them, for clarity's sake. Lots of people don't know they have the other variations, since they are not as obvious and often less common. This variation of synesthesia is called Chromesthesia.
I had No idea that I had it until about a year ago (I didn't know it was a Thing). I only have a mild version of Associative Synethesia!! I associate numbers and letters to certain colors. Never caused problems at all. In fact, I wish I had more of it, especially the kind with Music, because I'm a musician and that would be pretty awesome!!
@@ElBlancoPapi i think i MIGHT have like very mild Chromesthesia bcs I don't associate colors with specific notes only sounds or songs in general, and sometimes I don't at all.
CikisHelyzet RIGHT?!! It took me 15 years to figure out that I’m not crazy and that I have auditory tactile synesthesia, where you can feel or touch sound. It was such an uncommon form of synesthesia that I couldn’t figure it out for a while
Ever since I was a kid I have had overlapping thoughts that never made any sense . Its usually when I do a specific task that an image of a location that I have been at in my life will pop into my head at the same time . Its almost always a street or building . When I am done with the task the image goes away. Here are three very random examples. When I watch the Judge Judy show. A specific street corner from the town I grew up in enters my head , when I'm done watching ,it goes away. Another is when I play the piano, a railroad crossing not far from the intersection will enter my head. When I'm done playing is disappears . Another is any time I read or watch anything about the Titanic the back of this school building close to the other locations will pop into my head when I stop it goes away. I am 45 and this has happened my whole life and with hundreds of images but none are related . Can someone tell me is this a form of synesthesia?? I am left handed and used to write backwards all the time when I was little. When I was a kid I was into cars and when I would look at the front or back of a car each one had a specific sound to me based on the shape of the car. I did out grow that. Am I just really weird ??? I'm sure someone here has some info. Thank you !
I associate places and/or people with specific tasks as well! Not sure if this is a form of synesthesia, however I do have other various forms of synesthesia so I would not be surprised!
This is definitely synesthesia! This doesn't happen to me anymore (I read that as you grow older, some types can fade), but when I was younger, whenever I'd have a cough attack while lying down in bed, I'd always have this distinct image of a red and orange rooster on the top right corner of my mind's eye. My mother's laugh would make me see a bowl made of bamboo filled with blueberries. Probably not related to what you're experiencing, but it make me think of that :D
You are not nuts. That is a great trait to have. I think your friends are nuts and maybe even jealous because you have a great characteristic trait that is very artistic and makes you a very talented person.
Only one thing wrong with an otherwise fantastic speech, I would like to question whether or not Synaesthesia (English spelling) is a condition. I always thought of it to be more of a neurological 'trait' or a 'phenomenon'. I think this due to the fact that everyone has the condition in infancy and also there is nothing technically wrong with your brain. I would like to know what other people's view are on this? Disorder or trait?
Chloe Fennessy I understand what you're saying and I agree in some cases, but as far as I know I think that in some cases it can also be detrimental too.
Definitely Not a Disorder!! What are the "Disadvantages??" None as far as I can tell. I see it as being an Advantage or, at very least, a Neutral trait
Omg this is so weird because I play the piano and I use colours to kind of "detect" what notes to play (I play by ears, dk how to read notes) and to me C sounds like an orange, D is blue, E is white-ish yellow, F is green, G is bright fuschia, A is red and B is purple, which is almost the same to yours. Damn this is weird. I always know seeing colours in music is weird, I just didn't know people that have synesthesia seeing music (almost) the same way.
Huh, I thought I only had grapheme synesthesia. It turns out that I have "music to colour" synesthesia too. Both are associative though. My morning runs would be a lot more interesting if I saw a vast array colours when listening to my music.
Dear kaitlyn Hova &Everyone. My daughter is just 17 and is at school. they just found out one week before her exams that she has Synesthesia. She was telling her maths teacher that she sees the numbers as colours. I am Dyslexic so I know what she is going through. We live in London UK, dose any one know were she can go to be tested??? PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Thanks for your help!!!
Ok....wait a sec. might have this. Played trumpet in Mn Youth Symphony. Saw colors with music always. Feel music more than think it. See colors with pitches. Blends...... hmmmm. Can’t come up with words that much though.
Idk if this is a kind of synesthesia but I can physically hear sound😉. 🤣🤣jkjkjk😅. I actually have auditory tactile synesthesia, so I can physically touch and feel sound.

This was an amazing performance. We had the opportunity to site right up front, and we were blown away. Nicely done. Thanks!

I kinda do something similar but instead of places its colors with tasks or memories
Ideasthesia is what I think that is because I have that myself. I also get Misophonia triggers and ASMR triggers.
cool! sound-color isn't one of my types of synaesthesia however I was overwhelmed by the performance
I composed a universal tune after watching her video..
I see numbers as colors . People think I'm nuts.
You are not nuts. That is a great trait to have. I think your friends are nuts and maybe even jealous because you have a great characteristic trait that is very artistic and makes you a very talented person.
I do too! Maybe cause I learn alphabet and numbers with colored magnets
I absolutely have it since childhood I noticed

I fully agree. As long as it isn't interfering with learning or causing any functional deficits, I would characterise it as a trait, as you said.
Chrialbe Albatross I actually read that it's a good thing because it helps with people's memory

trait, definitely. A disorder would be the last thing I would call it.
I have chrometesia and synestesia grapheme color
how i remeber the 6 muliply thingy when i was young
think about orange idk im weird

I can't see color. When I hear a note I just see it on a staff.
Am I the only one that when she said that s was red went "Nah, it's (insert color here)-"
my synesthesia made democrats red, republicans blue before I knew the colors for each party
arent democrats blue and republicans red?
@@arunmiruthyunjey3734 r/woosh
mine made democrats yellow and republicans blue so i would always get confused--
you explained me thank you xx

I saw music as shapes for a period of time while dreaming.
I have this and sometimes more then 2 senses cross.

i can taste words
also i disagree with her idea of colours
Satire - Luver yes I have different colours than her too! :))
X fl0w3r1 X That's great! I also taste words.

When i see the girl i like i felt rainbow or
when i see math teacher i felt dessert. Is that synesthesia?
how do i have this? 😂
You want me to give it to you 😂 ??
Came work with me?
When I look at her, she looks hot
Is that synesthesia ?
No, it's not but you're right in the fact that she is hot. She is also married. I don't know about you but I'm also married.
