A better question is why is anyone still going to see them? Motley Crue have been awful live for decades and its the same boring old setlist they play every tour over and over again. Who actually wants to see this crap still? Aerosmith must be the only band with any dignity left. Steven Tyler's voice went out and they said that's it, we're cancelling the tour, we're done. No backing tracks, no lip-syncing BS, they just retired right there on the spot.

Great video, Mike! I agree with almost everything you said. One other reason these veteran acts keep going is that, in terms of a job or career, they’ve never really done anything else in their lives. Music is pretty much the only job they’ve had in decades. Like most people, a lot of their identity, sense of self or whatever you want to call it, is completely tied to their band. They’re not ready to let it go because without it…

I agree with you, I'm 69 going to concerts since the 70s, lost my faith in rock......until, I see a glimmer of hope with a band called
"The Warning" Three sisters from Mexico currently on tour in Canada. They are humble and respectful of the industry, fully grounded and write
music from the heart. Their 24, 22 and 19, been playing together for about 11 years. Just came out with their newest album "Keep me Fed", which I hope earns them at least a Grammy nomination. Most people say their even better live, then studio. You can check out much of their music on y-tube. They're a fresh breath of air in rock music. Thanks. W.

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but I can tell you that she works her behind off! She's earned what she's accomplished. She's been touring for 3 years now, doing 3 hour shows for millions. Which is more than these other bands are doing. Frank Zappa said that "commercial class crud should exist because there are consumers of commercial class crud". Why have the "old man yelling at the sky attitude"? Younger bands, non Rock bands are allowed to exist and thrive. Swift has been around forever now, her music will still be played 10 years from now. Blame lame ass rock musicians for being lame. John Mayer is considered a guitar great!!! Imagine that shit! Truly is a Wonderland...

My uncles are approaching 80 and are out there weekends singing doo wop…it’s not above the money, it’s about doing the dream, connecting, keeping the music alive! And yeah they draw crowds no joke, sc, Fl, etc. I just saw bush loaded, candlebox, Jerry Cantrell who has a new album out and I think it’s great! ❤

Past their prime? 99.9% of even successful bands have a 'prime' of about 3-5 years. Ridiculous to state a band shouldn't keep doing it past their prime.
Also, hardly any band has the money that you think. Several interviews where Mick Mars is talking about he had to sell a lot of his amps and guitars in the Mis to late 90s just to pay the rent. If you haven't seen these interviews, it's an quick search.

      It’s not embarrassing.
Is it embarrassing that your parents or grandparents can’t walk anymore?
Is it embarrassing that your family members have trouble remembering things?
Is it embarrassing that other that you love cannot work or perform like they used to?
If so, then you have major issues and are heartless.
      Life is fleeting.
Have you ever heard of the well known Jewish verse in Ecclesiastes?
      Ecclesiastes 3
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
The time is now, not when we are dead and gone.
When you become old you are obligated to embrace your gifts and whatever is left and share it with others.
And if you don’t like it as a fan, then don’t bother viewing it. Bury your head in past recordings and live in the past.

Vince Meal comes to mind. Dude had an extra year to get in shape and still stayed at the buffet too long. The parody lyrics videos are hilarious. Aerosmith went out on top, so did Kix, still sounding good. I always hated when bands got success they gave up on the background vocals and lost all stage presence. Ozzy and Kiss were terrible out last time. Sharon is currently taking presale tickets for the 2028 hologram tour. Phil and Tracii still sound good, but I wish Mick and Kelly would join in.

VH makes 50 million for a tour, 45% IRS tax, they pay state taxes for every city they play (star tax), pay managers 20% of gross, tour personnel, pay for travel for everyone, pay for venue, etc...they're lucky if they pull 3 million a piece then they have to pay property taxes, upkeep on these large houses, lifestyles, just living in general...upwards of a million a year just to live... They tour because none of these people are good with money...what's Tommy Lee going to do? Work at Lowes? They'll tour over and over until they die...

Tracii Guns once said Nikki Sixx just wants to be a rock star. I always being a tremendous Zeppelin fan. I wanted them so badly to tour. I think 94-95 was their window. As good as they were at the O2, I'm glad that was it. It put a great ending to it. I mean, I would have loved to see them, but I think I would have lost respect. I get exactly what you're saying. Taylor is frauding the public. 60s,70s, and 80s we lived the best music.

If I ever go see live music, I'll only go to local underground punk shows. They're only playing for the aggression, not the clout. I write basically to vent. It's funny you brought up Taylor Swift. She's playing here in Indianapolis and people are paying 1200 dollars for a ticket. Not to mention I have to see a massive decal of her on the side of a building downtown. I was in a newer metal band a few years ago, we got pretty big for a band at our level, toured all over the world, and that's exactly what it was: an excuse for people to take selfies. The music we made was just background noise. No one actually cared about the music, it was just an excuse for people to dress up like it was the 80s and take selfies to post on Instagram. Young people don't care about music anymore and older people aren't going out to concerts as much. Rock music is pretty much dead. Music in general just isn't important anymore.

This guy is great...and is also very accurate with his assessments. Speaking of some of these older rockstars having massive egos, have you guys ever noticed it seems like a lot of them are having children in their 60s...and even late 70s. Didn't Ronnie Wood and his wife have twins when he was like 70? It is always twins..because they are never natural fertizations, of course. Ego is the only reason I can see a 70 year old man wanting to have a baby/babies. They think the world would be better with more of their DNA out there. Why else would a 70 year old man want a baby? Frig...the kid is going to be orphaned by the time it is 10 years old. It is selfish...and proves the ego and delusion of some of these guys. Well, in my opinion, at least.

Loyal fan of yours but I totally disagree on all fronts. Motley isn't bad live; VINCE is bad live. And they DID just play club dates, and Vince plays clubs all the time for solo gigs. Some of it is ego but mostly they just want to play. John 5 doesn't have an ego, he's doing it because he's having the time of his life playing with his heroes and he doesn't have anywhere near the money the other guys have. Plus, you keep saying, "If you saw them in the 70s and 80s...." Well lots of us didn't get to see them in their primes because we were too young. In Motley's peak years of Feelgood, I was 13 and my parents wouldn't take me to see them. Now I will spend hundreds to see them live, even though Vince sucks. No one expects them to be close to their prime, and most of us don't care. We go to see living legends in the flesh, and frankly I prefer if they use backing tracks or other musicians to fill in the gaps because it sounds better that way and we want to re-live our teenage memories. Or for younger fans who learned of them from The Dirt, they're seeing them for the first time. Bottom line is, who cares if they still tour? Those who don't want to go don't have to go, so let us enjoy ourselves and celebrate that they're keeping rock alive and proving jobs for all the crew behind the scenes. As for new music, there's tons of it, you just gotta look overseas, mainly Sweden. So many younger rock bands who play that 80s/90s hard rock style but still sound fresh and write great songs. Hardcore Superstar, Sister Sin, Crazy Lixx, Crashdiet, New Roses, Cruel Intentions, Confess, Wig Wam... so many it's hard to even keep up.

In defense of The Rolling Stones, they did put out a new album recently and have another on the way. Not at the classic Sticky Fingers level but not bad one either. If a band still has something to say, and can record a decent album, by all means, go for it! As far as I can tell, the Rolling Stones don’t lip sync or autotune their concerts like Motley Crew and so many other bands do. Let’s just enjoy them while they’re here.

I’ve never really thought about this before, only in the context of bands who should stop touring because they can’t actually perform anymore and rely on backing tracks - Motley Crue - and wondered why the hell they’re bothering. I think Jon Bon Jovi needs to quit, he’s not even that old but he just can’t sing anymore. He certainly doesn’t need the money!
But I’m glad that bands like Def Leppard are still touring - I’ve watched a couple of their recent stadium shows and they are EPIC! There are very few bands around nowadays who can truly rock a stadium and it’s important for kids today to get to experience that instead of thinking Taylor Swift is a stadium act FFS

I was a teenager in the 80s , I didnt have a chance to see my favorite 80s bands in their primes . I saw them in the 90s, 2000s and Im glad I can see them today. Sometimes we dont mind about how do they sound. I personally love to see them alive and kicking. .In 2024 I saw Hollywood Vampires, Glenn Hughes ,Scorpions, Judas Priest and Bryan Adams they still Rocking big time . Yes some classic bands arent the same anymore but who the F***k cares ? If We dont like it, we dont see it .. Ringo Starr just released a kickass album and the guy is 100 years old . I saw Chuck Berry in 2006 he was like 95 or something but he Rocked . There's always old loyal fans and new fans who couldnt catch the primes . Bands like KISS and Motley was never about only music.
Dissing Taylor Swift is like dissing the Boybands 25 years ago. Pointless, not my scene but Taylor is awesome for Swifties. Def Leppard worked with her back in 2009, thats how I heard of her for the first time and I loved that show .

Some of the older guys like Pearcy are just “raking it in” playing rib fests and casinos. They are doing it now while still able in order to settle in on a comfortable retirement in a few years. Pearcy needs the money and I don't think he pays his band (all in their mid 50's to late 60's) a lot and being a side guy for Pearcy and playing rib fests or clubs at 60 is not a good position to be in. Sometimes it's better to work a regular job. A lot of bad business and money decisions were made in the RATT camp.. Anyway, Pearcy should hang it up IMO because his voice sounds horrible now. If people want to pay to see him that's their choice but I think he should have hung it up at least a decade ago because he can't sing. It's a shame that four of the original five guys are still alive and they wasted a lot of years fighting. If you can still pull it off at his age by all means keep doing it, if not, get off the stage.

@@beforeiforget1985 It is sad. After 1985's Invasion of Your Privacy they kinda just sunk. I'm not saying Pearcy is broke. I just can't see playing some of the dives he's playing sounding the way he does if he didn't need the money. Even if he still loves doing it it's a rough representation of what used to be a great band. Some people never saw the original lineup and in 2024 they're presented with a cover band with Pearcy struggling to sing the songs.

    • @vistalite
      @vistalite 2 месяца назад

@@johns.8961 I don’t know Ratt’s past finances, but they were playing sold out coliseums and sheds from 1985 to 1990 along with 4 platinum records. Hopefully, the guys invested their money and didn’t piss it away. Pearcy took writing credit on almost every song, so I’m sure he made a good chunk of change. He lives comfortably now and I believe he could retire if he wanted to do so. As mentioned above, he’s raking in as much cash now while able. Casinos and rib fests pay well. Overhead is low on fly dates. Why not squirrel as much cash away now and float off into retirement living like a king? I’d seen Ratt a few times in the 80s and early 2000s. Pearcy was never a great live singer, but IMO, he’s almost as good now as in the 80s. People still enjoy the show. Quiet Riot is another example. I’d rather sing Mental Health in a tribute band for a living than punch a time clock at some McJob… but that’s just me.

Oh I’m a little late for this video. But I would never pay that sort of money for a former a grade rockstar. I will, however, pay $40 for a band that might not have made it that far and are still out grinding on the road. Especially if I had seen them in the 80s. I had sent you a message on Instagram about it so I will not expose the band. I am talking about recently. I would also spend some money to go see L.A. Guns if they could manage to set aside their differences now that Steve has passed. If we managed to get Phil and Kelly on stage together, I’d go. But Kelly married very rich and I only believe he was doing it for Steve. That’s just a sad situation. Still has a voice, it was never the best, but he could still belt out some L.A. Guns tunes Even seeing Stevie Nicks, this past year was very depressing. I had tickets to her show, I believe the day after 911 happened. it would’ve been my fourth Stevie show. That just left me with a horrible memory. And to see her on stage at almost 80 years old, it just saddens me. I would never pay the amount now.. if you have the money, it has to be ego. I’d rather be sitting on a beach. Or in a cabin next to a roaring fireplace. Being taken care of and leading a life of luxury then be on the road.

Heritage bands have largely mutated since their glory days to be a fusion of backing tracks, AI induced vocals (and visuals) or new (replaced) younger members. The totally unoriginal Foreigner has just announced another tour in 2025 continuing beyond their current 'farewell' tour. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple admitted candidly that band's farewell tour was a money-grab in-reality. The Stones like any other quasi-original band from the 60s, 70s and 80s can still sell-out arenas and (maybe) stadiums in 2024. It's their monetary cache' for the corporate musical conglomerate which keeps them in the mix. Tito Swiftless is a globalist product and exudes everything that is in-keeping with social re-engineering and the advancement of communism. Time for all of us rock and rollers to 'let it be' and enjoy our record collections, memorabilia and great memories when it was all real.

Sadly, country became more rock than rock, and it still sucked. I started in the 80’s and went backwards to who influenced my favorite bands, like Zeppelin and the Stones, and it got better the further I went. Alan Lomax’s field recordings are DIRECTLY responsible for music as we know it. As Willie Brown said in Crossroads, “Muddy Waters” invented ’lectricity”. The last great newer blues band I heard was The Red Devils: King King, and their live at PinkPop on here is awesome. I loooove me some Gary Clark Jr. too: live, Ready When my train Pulls In and Don’t owe you a Thang are powerful. Zero social media, zero connection with fans / followers, any time they release an album its all legacy media shows and appraring on Ellen & Oprah, misjudging the climate with the itunes disaster, and the music? .. the last couple of albums are snoozefests and overworked so no that the life is strangled out of the music. Live, the show is all to click track, every night is the exact same. Even Larry Mullen seems to have al but left the band (the only cool member !)
Look at their peers, Metallica, all behind the scenes making of every album, band members active on social media, they all play live on stage and heaven forbid they seem to be having fun! And they are making good albums.
Even Leppard seem to be engaged with their fans.

I can understand that. But if you can’t deliver anymore, and if you don’t need the money, what’s the point? Putting on a show that is not even close to what you could do in you it prime is not a good look imo. Thanks for watching 🙏

@@beforeiforget1985 on the other end of the spectrum I just saw Judas Priest and they were absolutely outstanding firing on all cylinders. I’ve seen them 1 million times since 1981. They’re sounding better than ever at this point.

@loveagainstgods5116 there are always exceptions. More power to them. I’m sure they tour because that’s what pays the bills. Either way it’s always great to see a band that are still powerful long after their heyday . Thanks for watching 🙏

Not at all. They never had money and just played to eat most of the time. They were abused and taken advantage of from day one. Thanks for watching 🙏
