I present the Ugly Duckling reimagined as an analog horror. Subscribe to my channel if you enjoyed as there will be more to come :) Thanks again pals, -Bug
Hey viewers!! Thankyou so much for all the support over the past year, I just wanted to ask you guys if you could let Cory know about this video!! I’ve been a fan of Cory since I was 9 years old and that’s a whole decade ago 😭❤️❤️❤️ I’ve loved and watched everyone of his videos spare a few, and it kinda got me to where I am today- If I could end up on one of his spooky scary Sunday videos when/if he returns, I could die happy (actual fulfilment pls fellow samurai help me outttttt) I’m currently directing a psych horror short film as of now to keep you updated , and I can’t wait to release more content for you too ❤️❤️
i came here just to see the story but i saw your comment. I”ve been loving the story about the ugly duckling this is just to support this channel i hope you feel better this time and upload content for us again🥹
4:40 “No one came looking for me when I disappeared. And now, no one will come looking for you.” No doubt, this is the rawest line I have ever heard. Absolutely amazing work.
“Besides, what good does caring do now?” For some reason, that line hit me a bit harder than everything else. Sylvie may regret how she treated her sibling, but the damage has already been done. Also the fact that the swans start cursing and talking more casually at this point makes me subconsciously associate them with real people rather than swans in a story
you'd be suprised in this world even regret for actions is rare. having someone grow admit not only to themselves but others that they regret what they did is rare, and unfortunately in the real world you don't get revenge stories like this without the person being jailed. in this life you got to take what you can get, and people maturing and admitting their mistakes is more than most people do in this life.
Speaking of the swans talking like actual humans, I just wanted to say that was so well done. Even though they were depicted without so much facial expressions (except on the horror cuts, which I think adds a subliminal-like touch to them being human stand-ins), it really felt like they were people with the way they acted. Even when the mom was like 'oh Ima gonna visit my son, this is the place he moved to' and it was basically...a swan moving into a barn...the personification worked bizarrely (surreally?) well. I dig it. :)
This feels like a genre of it's own, it's like a children's tale that's been corrupted by hatred and evil but it still retains it's original message somehow
Yeah, I think I can see what you mean. Even though this version is warped and darker then the original, but it still has it's massage about ever is beautiful even though how different they are or something like that.
I understand the message about no discrimination and that, but damn having a duck with human hands as a brother must be at least somewhat uncomfortable.
My favorite part was when the duckling reminded the mother how they made fun of him "You are a freak, an ugly freak. Look at your feathers, look at your beak" The fact that it rhymes makes it feel even more like a children's story.
This is such a treat to watch, the fact that because of the abuse this family gave the duckling it made him into the monster that they always called him
@@zavl6707 Aww.. Are you seeking attention because of someone complimented them? How about you make a positive comment, that way you will definitely get the attention. You toxic ass wannabe "Sigma" kid
@@tooth_bug it's not like it justifies what he did. And you can't use the excuse of insanity either. He willfully and intelligently committed several murders. On a side note, I think that analogue horror kinda sucked for a bit and this was a well executed video. You took a childhood story, made it scary, and didn't do anything over the top. You even made the abuse visceral and brutally realistic. A tier.
the fact that when Sylvie said “where is everyone” in a red text, (A.K.A. the same color as the ugly duckling’s subtitles when he talks) which means that when the ugly duckling left, it was _him_ wondering “where is everyone” when he left, because he wanted his family to come looking for him. but they never did. there’s a probability that the reason the story went corrupted and glitched is because before the hypothetical “good ending” happened, his pain overtook his thoughts and he broke the fourth wall, glitching out the video to how he desires.
Writing "If you suffer from derealisation keep in mind this is a work of fiction." before having Ugly Duckling's eyes appear has got to be the most vile thing imaginable. I love it.
Her brother is right. "What good does caring do now?". Feeling and saying she's sorry doesn't do anything except make herself feel good. If only she had tried to do something, even long after he had gone, her ending might be different
Exactly, I feel like she’s only sorry because of how her siblings, mainly her brother here came out entitled and now she’s trying to act like she’s better than them by suddenly caring about how she treated the duckling. Like what her brother said;”What good does caring do now?” The damage is done and their actions led them to their own deaths
Honestly its the equivalent of ending someone because of something they did to you when they were like 7-12 years old, yeah it would be understandable if you still have some resentment i still have some but if that resentment is that strong you have anger issues.
That was the most twisted but also most badass line I’ve ever heard in an analog horror “No one came looking for me when I disappeared… and now no one will come looking for you.” That really hit me hard tho.
BRO I just realized that those "red texts" were the ugly duckings thoughts. I think because of the pain and the abuse he went through, he literally glitched the video and basically had done something like a "revenge ending" instead of the "good ending" we all know and love as kids.
See, what I love so much about this is just how "direct' it is. There *ARE* no hidden meanings. There *ARE* no other interpretations other than literally the original lesson. It's told in such a good way that even though the story *seems* okay if you disregard the weird "glitches" or cuts to the distorted faces, it still reflects the original story. But as you go further, it starts to get darker and darker, while still having the children's story vibe. I think another thing that gives this such life is the fact that it's a classic story. You already *know* the story, and you *know* what becomes of it, so it starts to get creepy with some kind of "knowing" what MAY come of it. Seeing "analog horror" in the title, I was subconsciously thinking the whole time: "How can this story be twisted?" and "The duckling is going to get revenge on them somehow I bet.", but like I normally do, I went in with an empty mind and watched it for what it was, not expecting anything to be cliché or overly spooky, and just watched it. I really enjoyed it, and watching it over and over, I start seeing things I didn't see before that makes the whole thing even better. One of those things I discovered while literally writing this comment is that the roles are *switched.* I could be wrong, but I believe that the original story had a mother *duck* with *ducklings* hatching a baby *swan*. The story was almost a play on words because it was called "The Ugly Duckling" when the duckling wasn't even a duckling at all. Here, he IS a duckling, and with the stereotype that swans are more beautiful than ducks, it just makes it all the more creepy and uncanny. This is probably one of the best animated analog horror things I've come across. the art style is perfect, the expressions (even while limited) played out perfectly, and the story flowed so naturally that you would think it happened in real life. I've watched like probably like 20 times at this point, and I'm definitely going to watch it many more times. (Also, forgive me for asking after such a long paragraph, but where did you find those text to speech voices? [specifically Kathy] They are such uncanny voices and they're perfect for analog horror.)
ahhh thankyou so so much! The effort you’ve put in to analyse and find all of my details is something I greatly appreciate,, Im so glad you enjoyed this project so much and I hope I can deliver again in the future! as for the voice, I think it was called texttospeech.io ? It was one of the first that came up, if not that I can double check but it ended in .io so yeah!! Either way thankyou so much for the support, it’s greatly appreciated ❤️💕🥰🎉
As much as it hurts to admit, Simon was right. "What good does caring do now?", now that all of their fates are sealed and no amounts of guilt will change it. When abusive family members or bullies realize their mistakes and feel guilt, it is mostly way after their actions happened. The immediate and long-term impact of their damage will always remain inside their victim. While Sylvie genuinely feels remorse for what the duckling experienced, it does not erase the fact that she was an active participant in the shaming and ridicule. I also wanna praise the way the creator subverted the "bully feels remorse" story. In most children stories, bullies see their actions were wrong and end up forgiven by/spared by the main character. During the conversation, you can see the shadow of the duckling very close to them, maybe close enough to hear Sylvie feeling bad about him leaving and what she did to him... but he kills her anyways. To the duckling, Sylvie's remorse means absolutely nothing to him, just as she and the others thought of him. Finally, I wanna comment on the "corupted" title screen. I absolutely love the twist version of the original title, it sounds very sinnister and... wrong, for some reason. Because the text is the same color of the duckling's text, it is easy to assume that he is responsible of this corruption, and I would go as far as to theorize that it is his voice we hear whispering during the corrupted parts. Back to the title, assuming it is the duckling, the "you" could mean his family. After my second rewach, I realized the feathers he has in his body are swan feathers, which helped him to finally become "beautiful". So, in a sinnister way, "The beautiful swan" was created by them ("you"). So glad and excited to hear that there are more to come in the video's description. These, along with Lacey Games, are my favorite analog/digital horror video series! (I made a comment before, but I couldn't find it to edit so I made a new extended one, sorry if it is way too long)
No don’t apologise!! this is a fantastic response!! you hit the nail on the head about how the damage has been done , unfortunately it was too late 😭🙏🙏 it’s a huge compliment being mentioned alongside Lacey’s Games so thankyou so so much for the support! ❤️❤️💕💕❤️
@@tooth_bug OMG YOU RESPONDED! Thank you for bringing something fresh and fun to the genre, I rewatch this video everytime I can. I was a film student during High School, so maybe that is what makes me analyze everything that happens on screen, haha! These videos will be fun for my brain, keep them up!
@@emiliajones6376SAME !!! I’m currently a first year film student rn at uni!! This is actually one of my assignments!! I hope you peruse film in the future If you enjoy it!! It’s a wonderful industry 🙏🫶🫶😭
I absolutely love the portrayal of humanity in this, the fact that Sylvia regrets doing what can’t be undone, and still being killed for it, then the duckling going for the main source: Mother, is so fascinating!
He was a mutant duck, because it said he was duckling in the beginning of the story, and he became a mutant, filled with hatefulness, and revenge over his family’s actions
I knew this was going to be good the moment that the creator subverted the original by having the "ugly duckling" be a duck among swans instead of a swan among ducks.
2:12 - 2:56 for some reason. Feels like we’re being taken out of the story and seeing a representation of something that happened to these siblings. Not as swans. But as people. It’s actually kinda scary if you think about it a little. Like the story is a facade of a story of someone who went mad for being different and slaughtering the people who wronged him. All shown in an old kids story. Now to scrounge out possible lore lol lmao.
I think the reason it feels that way is cause the change of voices. It makes it feel less like a story and more like it was something that happened. (Sorry if I said that poorly or if I'm just repeating what you said)
Its cliche bc the fanbase and fnaf, outlast, and poppy playtime. But to keep a horror/scary game fanbase "pure/same/no kids intervention" you have to be mean, and bully the new ones out.
Ahhh thankyou so so much- this was actually a project for a film class,, and we had to recontextualise a classic fairytale !! I chose to go with an analog horror approach because I could see the potential with the story of the ugly duckling and I went with it ;D Thankyou for the support, I really appreciate it 🫶🫶
The only reason I used text to speech is because I didn’t actually know anyone who could voice act for an old narrator lady 😭🙏 it ended up being common in analog horror anyway but this was for an assignment that was due and I needed to have my audio sorted
I agree, I like how in this story one of the bullies regrets it but still being killed by the Duck. Edit : Also, the Duck saying that no one was looking for him so does that mean Silvie doesn't care to look for him even tho she regrets bullying him? Now that's even more dark and interesting.
@@WatchingLainrn I think Silvia didn’t look because I mean, where would she look? I’m not sure but I’m assuming she was still young when the duckling left, and many years passed from then on so looking likely wouldn’t do anything. Also the other siblings and mother were horrible people, Silvia was influenced (mainly by the mother and so were the other siblings. The mum was the worst) I agree with you, it’s interesting how Silvia was still killed. Might be unpopular but I personally think Silvia should’ve been spared at least?
THIS, is quality. Literally just the original story, not even a re-telling or "alt perspective", just, THE story, but done with such stunning method of analog horror. Captivating and eerie. THIS is high quality & solid effort. 11/10.
The scariest part is how this is basically an average Tuesday for real birds. Now I'm wondering how the human who owns that barn is gonna feel about the strange looking swan that keeps hanging around their farm.
i want the ending to this tale to just be the mother swan in saved by the last minute by farmer jim with a double barrel blasting the blood monstrosity duck, and neither the mother goose nor the farmer really knowing what to even do. a brutal end for a brutal story in my opinion
@@sovietunion7643No everyone deserved their fate Even Silvia at least she kinda felt regret but at that point there was no fixing what they did to the duckling. The mother didn’t stop the bullying she encouraged it. If anything she had what was coming to her she does not deserved to be saved Nor spared.
This analog horror really says some stuff about society and abuse. The fact that abuse can happen anywhere is scary. I also like the fact that foreshadowing played a part in this- crazy stuffs.Sylvia felt remorse, but everything that they did to that child couldn't be taken back. I feel sorta sorry for Sylvia, but the damage couldn't be undone. This is really cool and tells a story. It has a moral, just like the real one.
This does make sense unlike in the original story, you can't expect someone to grow up to be good, successful "beautiful" If they are hurt, humiliated, and discriminated by everyone around them.
I dunno about that... There are people out there who choose to be better than the people that hurt them. It's hard, I'm sure, but it is possible. And as they say, "The only actions you're responsible for are your own." (please don't take this as fighting words I'm just trying to offer a different perspective here guys)
Im not sure. I agree with the person above me. When their past is just about being humiliated and abused, The future is up to their own actions. Their own actions will decide if they would be better, or even worse. Nonetheless, I respect your opinion.
Now I understand the reason for that one phobia "fear that somewhere, somehow a duck is watching you" I now completely understand and respect the people who have it
This story perfectly describes the african proverb, "a child who is not embraced by the village, will burn it down to feel it's warmth" and as someone who's been made fun of and cast out by people around me throughout my life for being different, seeing the duckling get their revenge in the end feels satisfying
Man, you need therapy. I know, it's sometimes soooo satisfying to have revenge. But not like this. Not by becoming a murderer with not just ugly appearence but now even a soul as well.
I think that’s the reason why he was smiling at the end, after all the shit he had gone through, always feeling utterly depressed. He is finally happy.
Surprisingly well made, the symbolism of the original story says how discrimination can lead others down A dark and horrible path, sometimes going back to take revenge on their abusers, this was a great representation of the idea the original author had in mind, with several sprinkles of horror mixed in, it came out really well, you've earned a sub and a fan of your work. good luck o your later projects. edit 1. now that I've rewatched this video over several times, I notice these little details that are so small that unless you know exactly how the original story goes, the horrendous treatment the duckling felt over I assume years of constant abuse would break any man, no matter the strength of their will, because eventually, the brain tries to fix said "problem" they have, even going so far as to " become beautiful" the level of detail in this short film really put me on edge the more I watched it, the stains of blood on the teeth of the duckling shows that it also might've eaten their siblings to become beautiful inside as well, which just makes that detail even more constant in this film, the eyes show that of a broken life, filled with sorrow, abuse, neglect, it made me feel sorry for the duckling as well as terrified for if something happened to someone of our race, all in all, the more I watched this, the better the video got, props to you for making such a unique take on this ancient bedtime story.
AHHH THANKYOU SO SO MUCH,, I’m so glad my intentions with this project were clear!!! This was actually a project for a film class where we had to appropriate a fairytale and change its meaning and I really wanted that message to come through :)) thankyou so much for the sub,, there will be more content to come soon 🫶🫶❤️
Dear Author, i really love this analog horror for interesting idea, thank You a lot for this, i think, it will be also interesting to make horror about "Steadfast tin Soldier"
Just realized the insane damn foreshadowing at the beginning when the ugly duckling was replaced by beautiful swan in blue letters which happens to be the color of the ducklings text. I really love the twisted morbid way they hinted at what the duckling would do
@@alekmarroquin6914 of course!! I just have to verify my account first because to pin a comment I have to prove my Identity- but when that goes through then yeah!!
Not only that but at the same time, the “ugly” part of the title becomes glitched out before it gets replaced and when it does it says “the beautiful swan: created by mother” instead
As someone who was ridiculed by my peers and family almost my ENTIRE life, this hits WAY too close to home, especially the line “what good does caring do now?”. I personally think that this is MEANT to strike a nerve in people, whether they themselves are “ugly ducklings” or “beautiful swans”. Otherwise, I really loved your work! I’m curious as to what other stories you might remake in the future if you choose to do so! Stay safe!
I’m so sorry to hear that!! And yeah, a lot of people resonate because it’s a relatable situation to be in 😭💔 thankyou so much for your comment,, there will definitely be more to come!
I hope you came out strong after experiencing all that from your peers and family. You will either find someone really good out there that will show you what love is or you will learn how to enjoy your own company and love yourself. Or both!
The scariest part about it is that it's not some cliché video about "Alternates" possessing everyone, it's a literal re-imagine(and probably an alternate timeline) of a children's story. Somewhere, in some world, this is how the story goes.
considering how brutal a lot of kids stories used to be or still are this isn't suprising. I mean considering "ring around the rosy" is literally about the black plague i mean yeah.
I know the siblings treated the duckling horribly, but I’m not gonna lie when I say I felt bad for the one sister who realized what she did was wrong and changed unlike the others. Like it would’ve been nice if this didn’t end up a horror story and the sister was able to redeem herself by finding and making amends with the neglected brother duckling.
AHHH I understand what you mean!! I would have liked to have a character arc where Sylvie got redeemed,, and if I was able to make a longer film I might have been able to,, but I also wanted to push the message that actions always have consequences,, sometimes far into the future - and don’t falter no matter if you’ve changed your ways. I’m so sorry HAHAH it’s really bleak,, but yeah I appreciate your take on this 😭🫶
@@tooth_bug No problem, you did a good take on the nursery story. What if you made an alternate scenario Sylvie actually changed earlier on because she didn’t like it how her duckling brother was getting treated for being born different. She tries to convince her siblings and her mother to stop but they don’t listen and are disgusted she was defending the duckling. After having enough of this, she finds her duckling brother when he was in the early stages of his decent into madness. She makes amends with him and becomes the only sibling who loves him. Instead of everything, becoming sunshine and rainbows, she decides to join him on his revenge plot and massacre the siblings and mother. She has seen the true face of her family, and she doesn’t want to be a part of it anymore. In fact, she helps the duckling look beautiful by massacring all the siblings and brings him their feathers. I can hear Sylvie saying to the mother when she discovers the gruesome massacre she says “It was you that was the actual imperfect one…”
@@tooth_bug I’m glad you agree! It would be a great idea for an “alternate ending” video and still retains the message of the OG. This time the mother is betrayed by one of her “perfect bloodline” children… Kind of funny isn’t it?
I can definitely see that the sister telling the duckling that she know sorry won't fix the years of abuse but she at least wants to show him how much she's changed. But i think this impacts the story that potential for change taken cus of the actions of the sister in the past the only one to blame is her and the monster she helped make
The classic tale of The Ugly Duckling teaching you to not judge a book by its cover and to accept someone for who they are even if they have an appearance that is not always desired by the masses or a different appearance. There are many different lessons that can be learned from the many different iterations and adaptions, but this one tells a different lesson and focuses on a different set of topics. That topic being scapegoating. "A child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth." Scapegoating is something that happens to many people. It can happen in the workplace, schools, colleges, homes, and any other places you can think of. Toxic parents, friends, coworkers, and strangers can participate in scapegoating a victim. No one is immune to scapegoating. Scapegoating can cause the victims to feel isolated and sad while the perpetrators can get to have a sort of control over the victim. An example would be that the victim's reputation being put in jeopardy while the perpetrators blackmail the victim, forcing the victim to do what they want in fear of their reputation being ruined. But scapegoating can have consequences. As we see in the video, the ugly duckling was bullied and harassed for his appearance. The perpetrators, his mother and siblings, used many insults, most notable being, "Your feathers are gray and ugly." After years of abuse, the ugly duckling vanished, leaving his mother and siblings to wander his whereabouts. Years passed... Eventually, the mother's children were ready to leave the nest and start a family of their own. It wouldn't be long until they had an encounter with someone they knew... But before that, one of the siblings felt guilty. When scapegoating a lot of psychology goes into play. The thing with scapegoating is that a lot of groupthinking and sanctioning is involved. It usually takes a large group to go against a smaller group to be most successful. That larger group works as a hive mind where they all find something they commonly agree (or through persuasion or other means everybody is convinced) and band together. Whoever disagrees with or whoever is different from that group is an outsider, causing the group to use means in "taking care" of the that outsider further distancing each other and making the differences seem more apparent. Which leads me to sanctioning. There are two types of sanctioning: positive and negative. Positive sanction is basically encouragement. If you agree/are similar to the group, you are accepted and encouraged. Negative sanctioning is the opposite. It is disapproval. In the video, the ugly duckling's appearance was disapproved to the point where he couldn't take it anymore. At that point, he "burned down the village" to become "beautiful" and indeed felt warm with the feathers of his slaughtered siblings. In the original story of The Ugly Duckling, we see that the ugly duckling becomes beautiful with nourishment and patience in the end because of the kindness the farmer treated him with. But in this story, he achieves beauty in a different way. This further illustrates that our actions have consequences, and with a lack of control a victim may have, they will try a desperate attempt to gain just that. Now that he has control, there is only one thing left to do... "No one cared to find me when I disappeared, and no one will care to find you when you disappear either."
This has to be one of my favorite interpretation of the Ugly Duckling. While the theme of the original Ugly Duckling story is about searching for personal identity and acceptance, the theme in this interpretation is about how abuse and neglect could lead people into a dark path. This interpretation also has themes of perfectionism, due to the swan family telling the duckling that they will never be "beautiful" and how the Mother Swan says to her grown swan children that "they will have a beautiful family like ours". The two swan siblings talking felt like a realistic conversation between two adults, which I find it as a creepy touch to the story. I hope to see more twisted fairy tales like this! ❤
@@tooth_bug Here's something I thought of when I watched this video. “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”
@@tooth_bug I dunno if you planned to do other fairytale inspired analog horrors but congratulation on this one, because it was really one of the most terrifying analog horror piece
The scariest thing about this is that anyone, and I mean ANYONE, could turn out the exact same way as that duckling did under similar circumstances, no matter how mentally, emotionally, and psychologically strong they are, and no matter how good of a heart they have. When it comes to people who are abused THAT much, the abuser's apologies and remorse mean nothing to them, as the abuser apologizes a long time AFTER the abuse. To the abused, it's just a lie the abuser made to get their favorite chew toy back, no matter how genuine the apology sounds.
Facts,, people wanted sylvie to live but don't realise that the damage has been done and Sylvie can't take back what she's said - well put friend! ❤️🩷🦆🔪
@@tooth_bug THX! But still, if either Simon or Sylvie were treated the exact same way the duckling was treated, they would've ended up the exact same way he did... A disturbingly true thought, isn't it?
@@mobileterrarian3653Emotional problems and pain are not excuses to cause murder, self-defense is the only valid argument to kill. It is typical of murderers to use their past as a cheap justification.
I like how the mother felt no regret. No semblance of remorse. The video showed her as a monster through and through. And people like that refuse to acknowledge that they have created worse monsters
Unlike a huge chunk of Analog Horror nowadays, this was actually good, it was different and actually tried to be original which is nice to see, epic job!
You know what i just realized? The duckling was yellow from birth, but got discolored into a blue when met with the stress of an abusive family. What if it's the story's version of skin breaking out, hair loss, and other problems that occur when a person's stress is too high? The duckling grew into an adult, but remained discolored and got creepy. It could have been a super cute or pretty duck, but the duckling's family did too much damage and pretty much ruined its chances of being happy, healthy, and stunted its proper growth into adulthood...
"If they cannot love me, why must I? I wanted to be loved, but they wanted to hurt me. So I will show them their pAiN. For pain is beautiful. " -Ugly Duckling probably
A year ago, I was planning to make a analog horror story of my country’s popular folk tale about a mouse deer stealing a farmers cucumbers then got caught and deserves a punishment by put it in the cage. I suddenly lost my motivation of making it. But thanks to you, my motivations are back and I’m working on it rn. Your story is also feels fresh and awesome!
This deserves way more attention. Honestly the story is twisted, no one should be treated differently no matter how they look we’re people and we all have that beautiful swan that’s inside of us but the harsh reality of the world and the darkness that lurks in it will turn us into ugly ducklings if we aren’t careful. Overall I loved this, love to see more of your work and keep it up!
AHH you are too kind,, and honestly yeah I’ve grown up always being the weird kid and I’ve been ostracised and what not- to be honest this story hit close to home when I was developing it and I could see a lot of my younger self in the way the ugly duckling reacted to the situation,, with anger and resentment etc. I’m glad you enjoyed my video,, there will be more to come so stay tuned :))
@@tooth_bug Looking forward to it man, and no matter how anyone makes you feel, be proud for who you are! You’ve got talent and don’t anything discourage you or make you want to stop! See you next video!
I like how this story actually implies that abuse, neglect or spoiling can lead to children becoming monsters when they grow up, the moral also tells us that we should care for all of our children equally no matter if one looks different and do not abuse or neglect any of them no matter if they do something little wrong. They are after all just children who do not know any better.
It’s interesting that they swapped species for the duckling and the swan. The ducklings yellow feathers were seen as better in the original. I’m guessing it’s about how arbitrary those looks are
Yeah I noticed that. In the Ugly Duckling, it was a baby swan that was raised into a family of ducks were their siblings would make fun of them for looking different but at the end the became a beautiful swan but here it was the opposite, it was a baby duck being raised into a family of swans. While the duckling was more good looking than the baby swans, in the end the swans will become beautiful while the duckling will not.
2:35 The killer duckling arising from the darkness of the night genuinely frightened me. As the music kept to be more and more distorted, the symbolic and dreadful tune along with the menacing figure of that duckling was terrifying. Congratulations... You scared me.
@@tooth_bugNo, no... I am the one that needs to thank you. You created a masterpiece, mixing two of my favorite themes: Innocent child things and MASSIVE HORROR things. Thank you, again, thank you.
``Villains aren't born, they're made `` Fits as a great quote for this analog horror. The ugly duckling after being called names and made fun of, he decided it was enough.
I've seen my fair share of horror, but goddamn- this, this feels like something new entirely. The ending and to see what the "Ugly Duckling" did was actually somewhat scary. Your work is amazing, kepe it up man

it took me a while to put together what happened at the end. the duckling wiped everyone out and put on their feathers in order to become “beautiful.” pretty scary stuff that aside, this is probably my favorite analog horror that takes something innocent and fills it with evil and hatred. great work
np, and i feel like when the duck revealed himself to the mother after so long, she remembered how much her kids made fun of his feathers. the duckling would remember how much pain he went through as a kid to fill him with hatred and a boiling desire for revenge. this led him to massacre the kids, and rip their feathers off, and put them on him, in order to be “beautiful”
In my personal opinion. This would be an interesting area for analog horror. Using Has Christian Andreson, Brothers Grimm, or Asoph's fables. And have a tie in for all of them. You did wonderful and I can't wait for more.
Honestly, this Analog horror has a great lesson in it "Never judge a book by its cover" or "never bully people by their diffrence" this Analog horror just gets me because i've been bullied once and then i met the stress of having fake friends...and all i could say is i could Relate to the duckling And also... The people who bullied me are those girls who kinda look like Tiktok girls and shit... This Analog horror is wonderful, a perfect way to teach people about bullying and i also like how the duckling gets revenge on his swan siblings, this vid is just amazing

I really appreciate this friend,, I’ve tried time and again to create a successful jumpscare in the past and usually they’d be creepy but not scary- this is one of the first projects that people are reacting to saying it was good and I really appreciate the support!! Thankyou so much :)) ❤️❤️
@@tooth_bug For some reason, this reminds me of the arrogance of the HECU, whilst I know that the HECU aren't related in ANY way, its just the insulting and regretting later. Both the ducks and the marines didn't give a shit earlier, not even caring for the lives of the Scientist or Security of the guards, but later? They regretted it, some even stating that they don't like the killing of unarmed civillians.
I honestly love how short but sweet it is. I think the problem with horror as a whole now is how too many try too hard to have a bunch of lore/story you have to catch up on in order to even understand what’s happening but this is overall a great, simple, and genuinely scary analog story that even stays true to its origin in a way.
Really well done! Bravo!! I’m not sure if this was intentional, but I was reminded of the nursery rhyme “5 Little Ducks” where the mama duck calls out for her ducklings who have wandered off. It gave the ending image of the ugly duckling’s eyes even more of a punch. On top of that, despite its length, I could feel that there was an additional underlying story here - particularly about the mother swan, the fact that there is no “papa swan,” and the implications that the duckling looks the way he does because all of the children were (allegedly lol) conceived from an incestous relationship to keep the “bloodline pure.” Great stuff! 👍🏽
That would give a whole new meaning to Simon and Silvie (green and pink swan) being together. They could have just been spending time together as siblings. But that 'pure bloodline' comment does kinda suggest otherwise.
This is a great take on analog horror that isn't about crime reports or mystical creatures. This is a creative and interesting take on the Ugly Ducklings story. As much as the duck became scary and evil, I still understand why he would do that to the swans. Edit: I just realized that this a role-swapped version of the original story. The original story is about a swan in a family of ducks. This one is about a duck in a family of swans.
I like how much this story links to human nature, cause I noticed how the "ugly ducklings" were the beautiful ones while the "beautiful duckling" was the ugly duckling. This really links the human nature as we simply hate or alienate anything that looks different, (One of the ducklings mentioned this) which is why things like discrimination happen, Great video by the way
The concept of “pureness” and “beauty” is explained very interesting in this. All the time the swans saw themselves as pure and beautiful and undermined the duckling for not being them. Yet in the end, the duck became pure because of what the swans made him. They created a monster, and one that turned just as pure and beautiful as them but with a price… P.S, great vid!
Thankyou very much!! ❤️❤️ I was conscious to apply actual horror techniques that I have learned in my film class to create something genuinely compelling and I’m really happy with the results 😖❤️❤️ I didn’t want it to be predictable because that would take away from the final product
@@tooth_bug You're an artist, i subbed, and i'll support you any step of the way. You have a very great eye for thwarting expectations. New favorite analog horror creator :)
i honestly don't know exactly why, but i kinda feel more...comforted by this than scared. Maybe its because of high school trauma, I'm not sure. You did a great job on this man.
Ahhh thankyou for the support! And I know what you mean,, it’s comforting knowing that the swans get what they deserve because what the ugly duckling endured is relatable ❤️
I love how the roles are reversed, in addition to the fact that this really happens in real life, there are families that are highly perfectionist who cannot stand differences and saw it as something horrendous, In addition to the fact that basically this kind of neglect in a child is highly harmful since it influences the child of the dark path to the point of murdering his bullies for Self-righteousness makes this sadder, the duckling was forced to become what his family thought he was and the fact that Sylvie wanted to fix things very late makes the story sadder. Also being killed by Simon , the words that Simon returned to his mother are the effect of his perfectionist upbringing, as the saying goes "raise crows and they will poke out your eyes." I like the new concept you made of making horror analogue of a children's story, it makes the concept much fresher
This was very well made. I loved how besides the end, the scares were sudden and unnerving but not actual jumpscares. I also love how the conversation the swans has as adults makes them sound more like people, with the swearing and the change in voices. It gives it a feeling of it being an allegory for a child with an abusive parent and siblings who can’t heal afterward and the trauma leads them down a very dark path.
As much as i enjoy other analog horrors like MC and VC, i think this one is beautiful in its simplicity, and how it still manages to have an important message after radically changing the original story. And those analog horror eyes may be similar in every video but they are always so piercing. I can still see them when i close my own eyes.
i genuinely love how short and simple this one is, it doesn't try to twist the story too much, and stays true to the original, there's no hidden meanings, its straightforward enough for almost anyone to understand, which makes the ending more impactful, and also obviously the fact that almost everyone knows the story, which weirdly gives you an sense of dread, you know what's gonna happen, and if makes it weirdly scarier, its like when you're winding those clown musicboxes ( i forgor what those are called ☠ ) you know what's coming but not when its going to
I find it insteresting how he started being yellow, but whenever his sibilings bullied him, he turned blue, and eventually, his color became blue outside the "corrupted screen" and stays a blueish color until the end. Also, I like how in this story the "Beautiful swan" isn't the duck growing up to be beautiful as the original story, but the monstrosities he commits, seeking to be beautiful and overcome their abusive family, because the trauma that was inflicted on him by his family. This also is directly said somehow, when the mother finds the scene of ar her other children dead, the duck says: "You want to know what I've done? I have become beautiful". He refers to what he did as becoming a beautiful swan. In the title, it corrupts and changes to "The beautiful swan, created by" and two "you", one beside the title and other more displaced. The first "you" changes later on to the word "mother", after dissapearing, which I mean it refers that the "beautiful swan", the scary looking monster with swan feathers he turned into, was created by his mother. This is like he's telling his mother, the "Beautiful swan"; he, wearing the feathers of his dead brothers, was created because of her, and her abuse. She created him.
I LOVED this. The visuals are really unique and the concept is really cool. Taking a low budget kids animation and turning it creepy is something I really enjoy and the ending with the duckling looked awesome. Great work
this was actually really well made, i liked how the aspects of the art style continued moving, it wasnt just a still image, yk? and the jumpscare at the end actually got me, it was awesome!
I think fairy tales are a mostly untapped genre when it comes to horror. Those original stories could get fucked up… The Pied Piper is a personally creepy one to me. Good job on this!
oh my gosh that’s a wonderful idea!! I could definitely consider messing up the pied piper into a horror short,, it’s so dark the whole kidnapping concept 🤧🤧 thankyou so much for the support,, I really appreciate it ❤️
Funfact: Swans are really aggressive and will drown anything to close to their nests. So this feels a bit accurate for the mom and siblings to be aggressive towards him Not saying this was intentional, just a fact that I thought was interesting to compare to the story
The most disturbing thing about this story is that, what the Duckling had gone through happens to other people in real life, and them becoming a monster as the result of the constant verbal abuse is very possible to happen to anyone at any parts of the world. So, in conclusion: monsters were not always born; they were made instead, and if you're amongst those who made said monster, then whoever's blood they may potentially spilt will be on your hands as much as it is on theirs.
I relate a lot to this analog horror People in the past would make fun of me for my looks or the way I acted, they still do to this day This has caused me to be a really insecure person and also have paranoia, and I dont interact with others unless they do it first, because I dont want to be perceived negatively Good job on the video, I love it!! @wintersky4552 Did they mean for that to rhyme? Lol
“Besides, what good does caring do now?”
For some reason, that line hit me a bit harder than everything else. Sylvie may regret how she treated her sibling, but the damage has already been done. Also the fact that the swans start cursing and talking more casually at this point makes me subconsciously associate them with real people rather than swans in a story
Yes!! The casual language shows the shift from the kids video with a narrator to a 1:1 rendition of a real “human conversation” :)
@tooth_bug why isn't ur name truth_bug that is more fitting
you'd be suprised in this world even regret for actions is rare. having someone grow admit not only to themselves but others that they regret what they did is rare, and unfortunately in the real world you don't get revenge stories like this without the person being jailed.
in this life you got to take what you can get, and people maturing and admitting their mistakes is more than most people do in this life.
@@sovietunion7643povo: uma pessoa tem que se arrepender antes do erro acontecer
Speaking of the swans talking like actual humans, I just wanted to say that was so well done. Even though they were depicted without so much facial expressions (except on the horror cuts, which I think adds a subliminal-like touch to them being human stand-ins), it really felt like they were people with the way they acted. Even when the mom was like 'oh Ima gonna visit my son, this is the place he moved to' and it was basically...a swan moving into a barn...the personification worked bizarrely (surreally?) well.
I dig it. :)

I love how she actually feels regret for what she did, but the Duckling just doesn't care anymore, she's irredeemable in his eyes.
She care now? She care now? When was all of that care for her sibling when he needed it the most? That was the problem, what good does caring do now?
Her brother is right. "What good does caring do now?". Feeling and saying she's sorry doesn't do anything except make herself feel good.
If only she had tried to do something, even long after he had gone, her ending might be different
@@bluesapphire4262 Yeah, where was all of that love and care when the duckling needed it the most?
Exactly, I feel like she’s only sorry because of how her siblings, mainly her brother here came out entitled and now she’s trying to act like she’s better than them by suddenly caring about how she treated the duckling. Like what her brother said;”What good does caring do now?” The damage is done and their actions led them to their own deaths

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
The "duckling"

@@Tunnel123four TLDR: OP is very impressed with this and thought it was a play on words and such.
This is some medieval type shit

@@sovietunion7643 That's actually a really good point XD
DID SOMEBODY SAY ALTERNATES?
This could become a whole genre where you take classic small tales and make them dark cuz I love this a lot❤
@@daderowley4514that’s a brilliant take on the story!!! I love that version, it means that they have eachother 😭❤️
@@tooth_bug I’m glad you agree! It would be a great idea for an “alternate ending” video and still retains the message of the OG. This time the mother is betrayed by one of her “perfect bloodline” children…
Kind of funny isn’t it?
"A child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth."
Scapegoating is something that happens to many people.
Very true and great analysis
Man vs. Society you can say in a way maybe?
Awesome take!! Thankyou so much for the time and support,, it really motivates me to keep creating!! ❤️💕🫶

Wow just...... Just wow 😢
And thats why he brutally killed them because of the amount of abuse they did to him.

You scared me.

np, and i feel like when the duck revealed himself to the mother after so long, she remembered how much her kids made fun of his feathers. the duckling would remember how much pain he went through as a kid to fill him with hatred and a boiling desire for revenge. this led him to massacre the kids, and rip their feathers off, and put them on him, in order to be “beautiful”
Not only their feathers,i think his beak also one of those swan beak

I honestly love how short but sweet it is. The type of horror which looks you dead in the eye and says "yeah, this happened and there's nothing you can do about it" is underrated.
This was sick, twisted, messed up, wrong and unholy:

There was an SCP of such a nature if my memory serves me well...
That would give a whole new meaning to Simon and Silvie (green and pink swan) being together. They could have just been spending time together as siblings. But that 'pure bloodline' comment does kinda suggest otherwise.
@@TIBKProductionswhere? Demon VHS? Because there are a number that fit that description. Or incest demons? Because that would be the Aristocrats

Are you stupid!? It’s not cute it’s grotesque!
I like how much this story links to human nature, cause I noticed how the "ugly ducklings" were the beautiful ones while the "beautiful duckling" was the ugly duckling. This really links the human nature as we simply hate or alienate anything that looks different, (One of the ducklings mentioned this) which is why things like discrimination happen, Great video by the way
True! It does give that kind of feeling of how we humans think when something is different

Ol skool 80s flash animation
The concept of “pureness” and “beauty” is explained very interesting in this. All the time the swans saw themselves as pure and beautiful and undermined the duckling for not being them. Yet in the end, the duck became pure because of what the swans made him. They created a monster, and one that turned just as pure and beautiful as them but with a price…
P.S, great vid!

2:55 how did the 🦆ling lose his eyes
For scary reasons 👁️ 👁️
I love how the roles are reversed, in addition to the fact that this really happens in real life, there are families that are highly perfectionist who cannot stand differences and saw it as something horrendous, In addition to the fact that basically this kind of neglect in a child is highly harmful since it influences the child of the dark path to the point of murdering his bullies for Self-righteousness makes this sadder, the duckling was forced to become what his family thought he was and the fact that Sylvie wanted to fix things very late makes the story sadder. Also being killed by Simon , the words that Simon returned to his mother are the effect of his perfectionist upbringing, as the saying goes "raise crows and they will poke out your eyes."
I like the new concept you made of making horror analogue of a children's story, it makes the concept much fresher
Frr, like the eyes may be overused but in this video they fit the duck perfectly, pretty Goated video when it comes to analog horror
0:39 it’s funny how the baby swans say the duck looks ugly. When the duck looks better then all of them. Except for the mother.
Also.they say that the duck looks plain while they do. They’re just jealous. :p
Exactly, they’re complete evil little creatures
It was probably the *BEAUTIFUL SWAN* manipulating the TV
This is actually some pretty good horror, with good symbolism/messaging to boot - that is something very few analog horrors can claim. Well done!
Thankyou so much !! I really appreciate it heheh ❤️❤️🥰
i genuinely love how short and simple this one is, it doesn't try to twist the story too much, and stays true to the original, there's no hidden meanings, its straightforward enough for almost anyone to understand, which makes the ending more impactful, and also obviously the fact that almost everyone knows the story, which weirdly gives you an sense of dread, you know what's gonna happen, and if makes it weirdly scarier, its like when you're winding those clown musicboxes ( i forgor what those are called ☠ ) you know what's coming but not when its going to
I find it insteresting how he started being yellow, but whenever his sibilings bullied him, he turned blue, and eventually, his color became blue outside the "corrupted screen" and stays a blueish color until the end.
Great work

I liked this analog horror a lot. You did such an impressive job and I'm impressed how this is made
The most disturbing thing about this story is that, what the Duckling had gone through happens to other people in real life, and them becoming a monster as the result of the constant verbal abuse is very possible to happen to anyone at any parts of the world. So, in conclusion: monsters were not always born; they were made instead, and if you're amongst those who made said monster, then whoever's blood they may potentially spilt will be on your hands as much as it is on theirs.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
ok that was clever 😂
I relate a lot to this analog horror
People in the past would make fun of me for my looks or the way I acted, they still do to this day
This has caused me to be a really insecure person and also have paranoia, and I dont interact with others unless they do it first, because I dont want to be perceived negatively
Good job on the video, I love it!! Its pretty comforting to me
Awhahha I’m glad you enjoyed but I’m so sorry you had to go through that! That’s awful!! I hope you’re doing better now hehe
This traumatised me.
Good job of it. This is a analog horror . Good luck trying to find me ever across the world.
I was expecting that jumpscare at the end but because it came sooner than expected it still got me. Awesome work!
indeed!!! The real jumpscare is the reveal of the slaughter house HAHAHA the novelty one is the very last one which pays homage to the likes of fnaf ❤️❤️ thankyou so much for the support!!!
@@tooth_bugquick question, how did you get the computer voice for the Ugly Duckling at the end?
Ahh the voice was a combination of two tts that I altered! It was on the first link on Google I think from what I remember !
@@tooth_bug what’s a tts?
2:44 “what good does caring do now?” He knew what he was doing when he was a kid, realised it was bad, but still made fun of the ugly duckling, but just as Sylvie said, “praising your coat has gotten to your head”…good stuff man👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I never seen such good horror analog like this, it definitely needs more views!❤ And i love how the ugly duckling yanked Simon away lol.
Good work, this sent chills down my spine. Music is very eerie which adds to its creepy atmosphere, jumpscares are also well positioned. This is certainly blowing up, I promise. Great job, Chloe!
thankyou so much!! I really appreciate the support :D ❤️❤️ and yeah I was super happy with the music as it was the first time I made a completely original tune HAHA
There gotta be more analog horror-fied children stories, this is so good I can’t even know-
There could be like a puss in boots, red riding hood or even a jack and the beanstalk analog horror, maybe
ik i look like a robux scam bot but im not but ill make one (:
