- In Book 4 of "Paradise Lost," Satan, having escaped Hell, enters Paradise and contemplates his rebellion. He observes Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and is envious of their bliss. Disguised, he tempts Eve through dreams. Gabriel and his angels confront Satan, who flees at the end, maintaining his plot against humanity.

Rather than misogyny, what I saw in the difference between Adam and Eve was that Adam is a reflection of Satan, who has cunning and boldness (perhaps shadow virtues of contemplation and valor), while Eve is a reflection of Christ or perhaps Mary with her mercy and capital G "Grace." This may be an echo of the Troubadour tradition, where the knight would have a courtly love that he would treat as if she were a manifestation of God's Grace on Earth.
Much of my reading of Paradise Lost is informed by the Silmarilion, where Morgoth has none of the antiheroic qualities of Milton's Satan, but plays a similar role in corrupting both the world and humanity. Tolkien writes that among the Valar, it is Morgoth whom Men most resemble. Both names, "Satan" and "Morgoth", translate to "Enemy" in Hebrew and Sindarin, respectively. But even before that, I could see that the fall of Man and the fall of Satan were a shared fall.
